• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    It Broke!

Saturday morning about 0730, temp about 42, visibility clear and a million. I'm on I-10 on the way to my dealer for a 21,000 mile service (about 60 miles into the 214 mile trip). Doing about the speed limit. All of a sudden RPM drops to about 3500 with a lot of extra noise and the speed drops...

    A Dealer's Phone Call

I live in Hereford Az, about 5 miles from the edge of the Monument fire that some of you may have heard about. This evening my cell rang and when I answered it was the lady who manages the office at Desert Dog Off Road Fabrication (my Spyder dealer). Just wanted to find out if we are OK and if...

Just a thought for next year

As many of you know, the Ride For The Wall has started, and Rolling Thunder will take place on 29 May. One of the things on my 'bucket list' is to participate in Rolling Thunder. At Spyderfest this year, I noticed that there are many Vets on Spyders. What would you all think of having...

    Note to self

Self, The next time you work on the Spyder, don't REPEAT don't use the fingers without fingertips to manipulate small items of hardware (tupperware attaching screws) lest they fall into really annoying locations! :cus: On the other hand (no pun intended) now you know how remove and replace all...

    So where have you lived?

Seems like we have people all over the world on the forum, so I thought it might be interesting to see where everybody has lived. Say for over 6 months. For me: Arizona - twice California - twice Texas Mississippi Florida North Carolina Virginia New York Indiana Illinois Ohio Germany - three...

    An Afternoons Ride

Just could not stay in the house today. Temps in mid-70's a slight breeze, and not a cloud in sight. So of course a ride seemed in order (after obtaining the requisite kitchen pass) Ended up going from Sierra Vista AZ to Douglas AZ and back along AZ Highway 92. Only about 120 miles...

Had new front tires (OEM's), 9K service and new DPS installed yesterday. (Thanks Desert Dog) So today, of course, had to make sure everything was working correctly ;) Went over to Nogales AZ on AZ 90 and AZ 82. A bit over 200 mi round trip. No really tight twisty turns, but a fair number of...

    Who woulda thought?

I've always been a fan of glass-packs. Seems like I spent more money on tickets/fines when I was a kid than I did on gas (well it was only 20 - 30 cents a gallon then!). Anyway, I put one on the Spyder last week and then took a 50 mi ride. Came home, took it off and re-installed the stock...

    Sorta inexpensive highway pegs

After installing ISCI ryder and passenger floorboards, I ended up with two sets of stock pegs. It dawned on me the other day that they might be used as low-cost highway pegs. Ended up using the stock passenger pegs, two bolts and a couple of nylon locknuts. Had the bolts and nuts in the...
