• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How and where to use a jack on an RT when adding Ride-On sealant?

Hi, I'm planning to add Ride-On sealant to my Spyder's tires and am thinking it would be easier to do the filling if the tires weren't flat on the ground. So two questions... first, is that a correct guess to keep the tires from sitting flat for the filling, and the second is a two-parter...

My RTL has chrome handlebars that I want to wrap... Any advice?

The PO of my new-to-me 2017 RTL added a few great mods, but one that I need to deal with is the chrome handlebar cover. Chrome is not a favourite colour of mine and the glare off of it is annoying. Unlike some covers I've seen on the 'net, this one's bolt holes are actually bolted in rather...

Is there a Spyder-specific manual for the Garmin Zumo 590?

The new-to-me 2017 RTL I recently bought came with the OEM Zumo 590 but no manual. I'm still trying to have it connect with directions in my helmet speakers but no luck so far. It's a Schuberth helmet with their SC10UA bluetooth comms. I've found a PDF online for the 590 but am wondering if...

My first real ryde today in 10 years

The weather has very suddenly changed and it was in the high 20C range today, so I had my first real ryde on my new-to-me 2017 RTL. It was great to be back on a Spyder after 10-years of two-wheeling -- and me being ten years older also means that getting another Spyder was the right call.

Big thanks to everyone for the great advice and ideas...

It's 10 years since my last Spyder and the past few weeks of trying to catch up here on what's new and then on what-to-do, and how, have been a great refresher ryde, so thanks to everyone who's shared their knowledge and experiences on this forum. Today was Day 1 with a new-to-me 2017...

Heated grips — do they work if the Spyder is idling?

I had a look at a 2017 RT Limited today and the heated grips didn’t get warm while idling for maybe a minute. It’s still winter so I couldn’t try it on the road, but seller said he thinks they’ll heat up when the RPMs are over 2000 — does that sound right? I checked the owners manual but it...

Was there a front sprocket recall in Canada that includes the 2017 RTL?

As I'm in Canada and considering the purchase of a 2017 RTL, I see a front sprocket recall on the BRP website for the USA - https://can-am.brp.com/on-road/us/en/owner-zone/safety-recalls.html but not on the Canadian one - https://can-am.brp.com/on-road/ca/en/owner-zone/safety-recalls.html Is it...

This might be the one - a 2017 RTL...

... with the mods I 'need': adjustable handlebars, Elka struts, Bajaron sway bar and end-links, new tires, only 25880 km (16080mi), 1 owner, and dealer serviced. It's got the original drive belt, but the regular servicing was up to date when it went into storage last fall. It wasn't ridden...

Things to look for & ask about on a 2014 RT Limited?

Hi, My previous Spyders were a 2008 GS SM5 and then a 2010 RT SE5 that I had until 2013. Both were great rides and I'm thinking hard about getting back onto a Spyder as I'm over 70yo now and my 2-wheel V-Strom isn't doing what I need. From what I've read here, the 1330 engine and the tranny...

Back in the saddle again... any advice on yr/model/issues to avoid?

Hi, It's been 8 years since my last Spyder and am thinking now's the time to get back on the road. I've had three 2-wheelers since then but have always had a good experience with Spyders, and with winter over in another 3 months or so, cabin fever is making me think about wanting to ride. My...

    Spring is finally in Saskatchewan!

She started right up after 7+ months of being parked so I took the RT out of hibernation for a quick run today. Only did 42 km but clicked through 28,000 km on the odometer in the process -- not bad for a 2010 RT that I only got in early September of that year -- and having maybe 5 months of...

My Saskatoon to Durango ryde has begun!

Got away just before 5AM in wonderful clear weather (it's been monsooning here for weeks...). A little fresh at +48F (I added the plus because we do see -48 here, but I'm not usually on the Spyder). Got across the border north of Scobey MT by 10AM with a nice tail wind and zero traffic all the...

Any suggestions for prepaid SIM card in the US for a Canuk iPhone?

Hi, I'll be heading from Canada to Colorado in June for the Owner's Event and then again in August, and I want to use my unlocked iPhone without paying the crazy expensive roaming charges from my Canadian provider. Can anyone suggest a good prepaid service I can get? What prices should I expect...

Saw a bike in a stupid accident today (no Spyder content)

I was headed to work in my cage, stopped at a red light in the middle lane of a 3 lane road (3 lanes each direction) when I saw a squid go past on my left side headed through the intersection on what was a very red light by that time. He never braked or swerved and piled at about 25 mph into...

First start of the season = brake failure message

My '10 RT with almost 16,000 km (10,000 miles) started on the first try after coming out of 6 months of winter hibernation. Which was nice. But it's also showing a brake failure in the display. The brakes are working OK so I went to the gas station to fill the tires and it doesn't show the...

Durango Owner's Event Ryders from Canada

Anyone travelling to Durango Colorado for the Spyder Owner's Event (June 20-22)? I'm planning to head down from Saskatoon via Waterton/Glacier, leaving on the 16th.

Where can I find info for the Durango event?

I've checked the BRP site and done a search here, but can't find anything about the event or if registration is open. Anyone know more than that? The town's website thinks there's going to be an event...
