• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    10 Year Club

Doing spring maintenance on the bike today, I realized it'll be 10 years old next summer. With the first deliveries in late 2007, I was wondering if there's any original owners out there in the "10 Year Club"?

    Front tires

I seem to only get 9K out of the stock tires and I need to replace them before Spyderfest. When I replaced the rear a few years ago, the Kumho Ecsta AST was generally accepted as the best tire. Searching the forums now, I don't see any consensus on the front tires. In case I missed it, is...

    I'm back. What'd I miss?

I returned from deployment a few days ago. I rode the Spyder today for the first time in 14 months. No issues that I can tell, so my storage plan must have worked. Can anyone give me the Cliff Notes version of what's happened in the Spyder world in the last year? I'm registered for Spyderfest...

Heading downrange, need long term storage advice

I'm headed to someplace hot and sandy for a year. Anyone have long term storage advice for the Spyder? I'm not opposed to just throwing away the battery and buying a new one when I get back, rather than leaving it on a tender for that long.

Hello, my name is Joe and I'm a wuss

I have daycare duty Monday through Thursday, so Friday is the only day I can ride the Spyder 15 miles to work. This morning it was 85 degrees with high humidity at 8 AM. I took the truck and cranked up the AC. :opps:

    Name Change

I asked Lamont to change my user ID from GIJoe. This name matches my user ID on the BRP site and makes it more obvious that I'm a Soldier. At SpyderFest, a lot of people were surprised to find out I was in the military. I guess they thought I was a fan of the action figure. :D Joe

    Broke my belt today

I was doing about 25 MPH through the city about 10 miles from home and had enough momentum to coast into a parking lot. After calling my wife to come get me, I called BEST for towing service. I knew without drive capability, I'd never get it into my trailer. A flatbed arrived two hours later to...

    Nice ride interrupted by vandal

My wife and I went on a ride to a local ice cream shop today. When we pulled in, we parked next to an older Kawasaki 650. After getting our ice cream, we went outside to eat. A few minutes later, a minivan pulls up and parks perpendicular and behind the other bike. He's a bit too close for...

Video of Spyderfest final group ride

well, sorta... After arriving late and getting route instructions from Len, I went out in search of the group. I didn't find them, but as you can see, that didn't work out too bad for me.

My camera died and I didn't get to record any of the performance testing. If anyone has photos or video, especially of the last set of tests, please drop me a private message. Thanks, Joe

Ride time from Cuba to Mammoth Spring, AR ?

I was reading that State Route 19 was one of the nicest motorcycle roads in the state. From Cuba to Mammoth Spring, Arkansas is 145 miles, a perfect distance for a 2-tank trip. Google Maps estimates it's three hours one-way, which is only 50 miles per hour. Does that sound about right? I...

Anything worth seeing at Ft. Leonard Wood? I have a DoD sticker and MSF card, so getting on-post is not an issue.
