• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    M.2 Shocks kind of installed

M.2 Shocks installed Ordered some new shocks for my F3S a while back. And on to the new hotness! Sitting gracefully in the air like a ballerina. Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr And the package arrived! Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr Look at all the glory! And if you look close...

    New handlebars/heated grips

Ok so this is a copypasta from a different forum I belong to, but it covers the gist of what I did. If anyone has questions feel free to ask. I haven't seen anyone else put aftermarket bars or heated grips on a ryker before, so I figured I'd share the struggle. Today's project was putting on...

    2 Up shock data

Ok, I've searched and found lots of conjecture and lots of discussion but very little hard data on the 'occasional two up rear shock'. The basics seem to be that the shock is the same as the stock f3 shock, but it has a different spring. You can't order the spring separately, so you're stuck...

HowTo: Wolo big-boy horn installed F3S

Today was quiet contemplation day. Just kidding, it was cleaning up the mess I've made in the last three projects so I could actually work in the barn again. Once it was clean it was time to mess it up again, naturally. The other day a buddy and I were talking about how pitiful the stock...

    Signature light for cheap

Bought a pair of Cree high output LED strips, rated for 565lumens and 6.5 watts per foot. https://gorecon.com/product/12-flexible-ip68-waterproof-ultra-high-power-flexible-light-strips-cree-led-white/ Unfortunately the math doesn't work out, because they also spec that they draw 285ma which...

    Garage door opener

Quick project. Bought a momentary press 19mm button from amazon, removed the pins I didn't need (only left common and normally open) and wired it to a cheap garage door remote. Switch: Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr Wires soldered to button pads Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr Tessa...

    Garage door opener built in

I'm normally posting on the F3 forum but my wife has a Ryker that I did this to so I figured I'd pop in. I find it annoying to have to hop off the bike to open the garage door, so I addressed that problem. I used a spare waterproof stainless button from a pack I bought a while ago for a...

Brighter taillights, or Why is this so difficult?

Brighter taillights, or Why Is This So Difficult? Let me start off by saying this is the first mod I've done to the bike that the end result isn't really worth the effort put into it. So take it for what it's worth. Also this post will go through at least three iterations before I figured out...

    GPS Lock, differently

In my recent GPS mount threads, the issue of security came up. The Zumo 396LMS I use doesn't have any, and I've not seen any commercially available locks for it. Oh well, let's get to making something. So the 396 has a button on the bottom you press which slides out a piece on the right...

    OEM windscreen mount, differently

I have the OEM windscreen (don't recall which one, it's the shorter one and I cut another 3" off of that) and I also have the low cowl cover. I want to be able to switch between them easily, and I find the windscreen very fussy to install. There's a bar that goes through the front mount that...

    Headlight/aux light upgrade, differently.

Completed: Below this is a comparison of the different light sources I'm working with. This upgrade will be both a headlight upgrade and an aux light upgrade, and as usual for me will cost a third of commercially available products and be demonstrably better. Follow the thread to the end for...

    GPS mount, revisited

So a buddy of mine with a spyder bought a GPS like mine and had beer, so I made him a mount for him like I made for mine. This time I figured if I was making one, it would be just as easy to make three. So first I started with a CAD rendering. Untitled by Uncle Grr!, on Flickr Then I...

    Passenger backrest/rack, differently

So after I made the driver backrest I was asked about a passenger backrest. They seem to run from $300 to $750, which is outright robbery in my book. Plus lots of designs won't work on my bike because of the mods I've made. So I set about making my own. I normally don't share projects that...

    Frunk cooler

Have you ever thrown a cold drink in your frunk and taken a ride then tried to drink it? That frunk sits directly between the radiators, and it roasts anything that you put in there. I decided to add some insulation. First I grabbed some foil backed bubble wrap I took out of my hot tub last...

    Drivers Backrest, done differently

So riding around with the gauge cover instead of the windshield left me facing a lot more wind, and the style of seating doesn't really work for lots of windblast. I decided to look into a backrest, and once again any accessory from BRP is lots of money. OEM seemed to range from $350 to $400...

Crappy gloss black paint dealt with, differently

So my bike was only available in black which is fine. The paint is apparently made of black toothpaste, which is not. Scratches super easily, and not resistant to any chemicals that I tried. Brake cleaner, goof-off, etc. I looked at the kits from wrapmyspyder, but I don't want my bike to be...

    Shifter adjustment, differently

A friend I haven't met yet reached out and asked me if I could make a shifter tip replacement (SM6) that's longer than stock so I said I'd take a look. I figured it'd be easy, a couple of round bits welded together with some flat bit in the middle. Turns out the stock shifter tip is splined...

    Heated grips installed, differently

So in my continuing effort to thwart BRP making every accessory cost $300 for mediocre stuff I decided to add a set of Oxford heated grips. I've had Oxfords on literally every bike I've had for the past 15 years (that didn't come with factory heated grips) Multiple levels of heat, comfortable...

    GPS Installed, differently

I took the GPS off my old bike before I traded it in so I needed a way to mount it. The BRP mount is nice, but way more than I wanted to spend. I've seen a couple other top clamp mount plates, but they all seem to use Ram mounts which are great if you need the adjustability but seem too much...

    Shad bags installed, differently

I bought the shad bag kit when I got my bike last year, but they didn't arrive till recently. I installed the bags and immediately hated them. The brackets are huge, they stick way out, and it looked like I had been rear-ended by a jungle gym. Fortunately they were made of regular old metal...
