• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Who did that?

I've been running searches for a couple of hours looking for an old (2009-ish) about an exhaust mod. :banghead: The mod involved making a pair of cones out of perforated plate and fitting them inside the elbow of (I think) a Hindle pipe. Can anyone recall who made this mod? Maybe post a link...

    Look inside the rear fender

Hi guys. I had the rear fender struts replaced on my Spyder a couple of months back. The dealer made a meal of the job, using the wrong nuts, which led me to remove the rear fender to check for damage. Inside, I found that the fender support was badly cracked. I've put some pics in my album...

    Rear fender strut repairs

I recall reading a post by Lamont a few months back saying that he was about to repair the rear fender struts where they cracked. I've been searching for that post and can't find it. :dontknow: How did your repair last, Lamont? Any sign of the cracking returning? Did you stiffen the strut while...

    Fast idle

Hi again. My other brain cell just fired. For a while now Lola has been starting with a very high (2000 - 2500 RPM) idle speed. It seems worse when the weather is cool, but it isn't consistent. This is a pain in the seat compressor because, being an SE, it won't change out of neutral until...

    Worn front pulley

Hi All. I put Lola in for her 30000km service and to have another attempt at fixing the non-blipping throttle blipper last week. While investigating the non-blipper, the mechanic noticed that the front pulley was moving funny. Investigating further he found it worn on the inside, and the...

    500cc Spyder

Hi all. My Spyder has started it's running on one cylinder trick again. Last time it did this, we replaced the 'Y' pipe gaskets (with Honda ones, thanks Ken), and the problem went away. The Honda ones were presumably junked with a few hundred km on them after the motor seized before Christmas...

    Flippin' Blipper!

Lately I've noticed that my Spyder (2008 SE) doesn't blip the throttle on downchange as it used to.:( I had the dealer check it at the 20000km service, and he changed the solenoid. It seemed ok for a while, but is now not doing its job most of the time. I have tried the power up test...

    Removing the tail light

I'm fitting a towbar to my GS and adding an isolator for the trailer lights (pics soon). While I was under the seat on the weekend, I thought I'd have a look at pulling the tail light off (because of the limp mode stupidity). I read the manual, and managed to find the screw behind the tail...

    I'm back!

Hi all. After five months in the shop, Prorider have run out of excuses to keep me off the road, and have given me back my Spyder. :2excited: She went in the week before Christmas, having seized with 20,000km on the clock. The cause of the seizure was a tooth broken off second gear. It got...

    Oil pump failure?

I was having great weekend last weekend. I had fitted my new towbar and taken a borrowed trailer for a trial run. All went very well, the trailer has little effect on the handling and stays behind the Spyder as required. On the way home I noticed a pulsing when I tried to accelerate through a...

    Ikon rear shock

For the past couple of months I've been experimenting with an Ikon rear shock absorber on my 2008 SE. I felt that the standard rear shock was too soft, and it certainly spent a lot of time on the bumper when I carried a pillion. I'm not a heavyweight rider, 70kg wringing wet, but I had settled...

    Trailer wiring

I set out to add wiring for a trailer on the weekend and got confused. I pulled the rear inner guard and found wires for the indicators and brake and tail lights, but what I thought would be an earth had 12V on it:dontknow: Looking at the wiring diagram didn't help because it is broken into...

    No more howl

I followed Lamonster's tip in the How to Step by Step subforum <http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5974> on adjusting my belt alignment last night. This morning I rode to work with no more howl.:ohyea: The biggest hassle I had was getting hold of a 36mm socket to undo and...

    Left side foot brake

Hi all. I promised some pics of my brake mod. I arranged this from 1000km away, letting the guy who volunteered to do the mod (a contact through the Ulysses Club) decide how to do it. I'm a right leg A-K amp, so the brake had to go to where I could reach it. What resulted was a mechanical...
