• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery access on my Spyder - less than 30 seconds!

Signal lights and top case moved aft, rear fender moved up, left side bag bracketry removed and reconfigured, all screws replaced with Dzus. Tools needed to replace panel: small screwdriver and Allan key. Time to remove panel, less than 30 seconds

    Battery changing idea

This tip may be of use to people who have luggage racks that block battery removal. In my case it was a modified 3 bag Industries 7 rack. Part of the tubing passed directly in front of the battery, too close to allow removal. Removing the rack is time consuming, but I found an easier way. It...

    SE5 oil change tip

When doing an oil and filter change on an SE5, note that the longer 6Mx35 Allen screws fit the smaller trans filter, and the shorter 6Mx30 screws fit on the larger engine oil filter. If you place all the oily pieces in a drain pan, you may get them mixed up (guess how I know). If you do so, the...

    Some Dzus tips

Replacing Torx fasteners with Dzus fasteners speeds up panel removal considerably. For most plastic panels, the 14 mm length is correct, but where thicker plastic is encountered, such as on the rear wheel splash panel, 16 mm Dzus are better. True, 14 mm can be used on the splash by bending the...

    Noob dictionary

The following is a list of definitions for new Spyder owner: Noob- a new spyder owner, not to be confused with: Roob- a Tri Glide owner. (to) Ryde- to operate a Spyder, not to be confused with: (to) ride- which is what motorcyclists, equestrians and bus passengers do. Frunk-the front trunk of a...

    Fender fix

I have never liked the idea of the rear fender bouncing up and down on the trailing arm and I have heard lots of sad stories about cracked bolt holes, broken mounting lugs and fenders disintegrating mid-trip. Therefore, I decided to suspend my stock fender from above. In my case, I connected it...

    Greasing tip

To ease greasing the Spyder front end, I followed the advice of Spongebob and purchased a LIN 5883 90 degree grease gun hose end from Lincoln Lubrication. It worked like magic on most of the nipples, but not on the upper front ones, so I ground a bit of metal off the adapter to make it fit...

    Brake pad questions

Seeking to get rid of the occasional annoying squeek, I bought a set of gen 3 front pads for my GS SE5. When I pulled the old pads out, I noticed that the new pads have an added tin plate on the backside, facing the pistons. This added thickness made it difficult to get the new pads onto the...

    5 Reasons

5 reasons RT ryders don't wave at RS ryders: 5: Rhematiz, arthritis, lumbago, carpal tunnel, etc. of left arm, shoulder, wrist, etc. 4: Don't want to associate with proletarian masses. 3: " Don't provoke 'em! Could be a huligan, Martha!" 2: Busy. Adjusting audio, video, suspension, grip heat, GPS...

    Brake pad wear

At my last service, the brake pad wear was 60% left on both fronts and 30% remaining on the rear, which I replaced. All pads were in for the same number of kilometers, 10 000. I'm just wondering if this is the normal wear ratio, front to back. Anybody have any observations?

    Oyster Run

Sunday, the day of the 2010 Anacortes WA Oyster Run, dawned dreary and drizzly, but, as they say in the North West, if you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride. A bunch of Spyder ryders from WA and BC congregated at the Calico Cupboard Cafe in La Conner, then rode as a group to Anacortes, a...

    Heel Braking

Being the owner of 2 artificial knees, I find that the stock riding position gives me leg cramps after a while. It helped some when I went to a brake pedal extender, and some more when I got the Kewl Metal highway peg mounts and Kuryakin Iso-boards. But when using the highway pegs, I was always...

    Blind spot remover

When I learned that the new "up and out" mirror extenders would require surgery to my BRP touring shield, I was disappointed and sought a different solution. I use steerable convex "fisheye" mirrors in my pickup truck, but my Spyder lacked a place to mount one of usable size (IMO) or close...

    Rack conflicts?

Has anyone mounted the new brp sidecase racks as well as the Kewlmetal frame mounted luggage rack? Are there any conflicts or interference between them when installed together?

    Local chapters

I've been checking out the forum "Local Spyder Lovers Chapters" and I notice some good interaction in the states that have a high density of Spyderlovers in a relatively small area. So I check to see where I fit in...Canada. Canada? Are we kidding here? Canada is a LARGE place. Out on the West...

    Shift wrench

I got those bullet-proof Kewl metal peg brackets that bolt to the motor mounts and they are absolutely great. There is one minor glitch, if your ryde is an SE5 like mine. If the tranny sticks in gear (can happen), the drill in the operators manual is to use a 13mm wrench to move the shift...

    Brake bulb win

I've so had it with BRP's cumbersome method of changing out brake light bulbs that I decided to approach the chore from a different angle. I removed the wheel well spalshpan and rear tail cone and looked inside. It occurred to me that the only thing stopping me from pulling the bulb sockets out...

    Kewl Metal rack

Since my tubing-type Industries 7 rack broke, I have been considering a frame mounted luggage rack to mount either a back rest or my Givi topcase. I have seen reports that the BRP Sport rack makes changing brake light bulbs difficult. Can anyone tell me if the Kewl metal rack has this problem ?

    broken rack

When I started to carry a passenger, my troubles began with my Industries 7 rack. I have Givi side cases and a V46 Monokey topcase. I previously posted the problem I had with the fender support arm coming into contact with projections on the rack, but I solved that with grinding a gusset and...
