• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any tips on the process of replacing the Old/malfunctioning ECM on a 2010 RS with a New ECM?

I now have the Megatech license for BUDS and will be looking further into my 2010 RS that is firing on only 1 cylinder. New plugs, wires, coil, so I have found a few that had their ECM quit around the same mileage (24k). I have a salvage ECM to replace the hopefully malfunctioning one. Has...

Is there anyone who can Turn off DESS in Wisconsin?

Riding season is almost here in WI. The weather keeps going up and down like a roller coaster. I'll be on a long trip in early June and would like to disable my 2014 RT DESS beforehand... so as not to get stranded somewhere along the way to and fro. I live in Beaver Dam WI. Is someone near who...

Is there a Key Blank available for 2014+ Spyders?

I have a 2014 RT (new to me) and have only 1 key. I am planning to disable DESS because of the many that have experienced problems and secure the bike with locked handlebars on trips, rather than being stranded with the DESS error. Is there a blank key available that is unchipped, to work with...

Anyone have copies of the RS Service Videos, or know where they can still be viewed?

Getting ready to open up the RS for some work... went to review the videos that were so helpful way back when and the links no longer work. Anyone have copies of them or know where they can still be viewed? Thanks.

Back from Fun Adventure on the Trusty 2010 RS

This is the 10th year of a Memorial Ride for my wife who passed in 2014. The same buddies have ridden along now for 8 years. This year we rode to Northern Wisconsin, then through Northern Minnesota, on along the Canadian border in North Dakota, then Montana and into the mountains of Wyoming...

2010 RS Still Roadtripping Like a Champ

Back from 2500 miles out to Niagra and then around Ontario. 2010 is still running strong and up to the challenge of seeing new scenery with me. The smoke in the air was heavy at times from Canadian fires. Time to wash the gear so I don't smell like a big smoked summer sausage. Hope everyone...

Winter Blues in WI - what's the best new/replacement battery?

We are still a long way off to riding season up here on the Tundra. My Spyder (RS 2010) has a 6 year old battery and it is time to replace it. What is the best battery for it now? Any good vendors to recommend purchase through. Thanks and I'm jealous of you folks down south LOL

    Back from Weeklong Tour

Rode through IA, MO, OK, AZ and through some of the worst rain ever near Hot Springs. We took refuge under a church breezeway for 2 hours and then in a break found a hotel in Benton to wait it out for the day. My 2010 RS is still running flawlessly across the 2600 miles traveled on this ride...

8th Annual Memorial Ride of Wife's Passing Headed from WI to Oklahoma this year

Each June I ride with 3 of my friends on a memorial ride. 2 of us had wives who passed at younger ages. (I'm fortunate to have remarried a wonderful woman). This year the hope is to ride down into Oklahoma before heading back east into the Ozarks. Anyone from Oklahoma or who has toured there...

    Rotella Deal at Fleet Farm

I just bought a 2.5 gallon jug of Rotella T6 5/40 that was on sale at Fleet for 39.99. Rotella has a $20 rebate on that size container. 2 1/2 gallons of T6 for $20 makes for a couple very inexpensive oil changes. The offer from Rotella is good until 12/31, so if you see their products on...

    Clutch Master Cylinder - RS SM5 2010

Does anyone know where to get a replacement rubber gasket for under the reservoir cover on a manual RS SM5 (2010). I've gone to Cheapcycleparts.com, Brp parts and find the reservoir cover but not the rubber gasket and... if they are one piece, everywhere the cover part is not available. The...

    Clutch Lever Adjust

My clutch lever/cable? is loose ... when I put in lowest detent, it doesn't engage the clutch at all. It only works when it is floating on the highest point on the wheel. The adjusting wheel only spins to the different settings... turning repeatedly right or left does not move it in or out...

Interesting Info from BRP 2020 Report

Today I was saddened to hear that a 60 year-old Harley dealership in town is shuttering its doors. Pressure from Covid and pressure on Harley has them reacting to the new environment by closing smaller town dealerships. Everyone knows that cycle sales are down and this is a difficult new day...

    Back from Ozarks

Awesome week of riding to and fro. The tropical storm went past while we stayed in Branson. Morning greeted us with blue skies again and the riding in Arkansas was spectacular. We were gone for a week and put on about 2500 miles. The strange range of Covid restrictions made life interesting...

Trip to Ozarks (MO & AR)

Heading down to the Ozarks this coming weekend and week. Has anyone done any riding down there recently? Curious about how thick the roads are with riders experiencing cabin fever and also, information how open are these states with hotels, food, bars, etc. Thanks.

    Godzilla with a wrench

Went out this afternoon to do my first oil change on the 2010 Spyder RS I bought last spring. The fellow I bought it from had changed the oil before I took possession of it. 3K down the road and time to explore the oil change and then... Godzilla had a wrench. Unbuttoned everything and went...

    An Oily Can 'o Worms

Sorry for starting another oily thread. Inquiring minds would like to know. I saw that Rotella T6 is NOT to be used in the 998 because of slipping clutch issues. When I looked backward, I saw that the issue came up early on in Spyder history. Since then, Rotella T6 has gone through some...

    RS Fan

Anyone encounter issues with the radiator fan? Mine has 8k on the clock and had the skins off to install some new lights. It had run warmer than usual Saturday on a ride with my wife. The temp went above its normal position. Let it idle in the garage... bars move up but fan never comes on...
