• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This may be covered elsewhere but since these things protect our noggins thought I’d post it up. https://www.rideapart.com/articles/410085/fim-helmet-safety-standards-certification-superior/amp/

    Happy Turkey Day!

On behalf of the mods we want to wish everyone who make this such a great place (that's all of you) a great holiday no matter how you are celebrating it. Safe travels to those of you putting some miles under your tires to get where you are going, and eat until you can eat no more!

Car Sick vs Motorcycle Sick and 2 up

Questions to the motorcycle community. So my wife isn’t interested in riding, one of the reasons given is twisty roads make her car sick in a cage so she’s worried about the same effect on a motorcycle. Have you all found that car sick equals motorcycle sick? Next question, when your partner...

Disabled the analogue gauges & want to replace with other gauges instead - Suggestions please?

Both the fuel level and engine temp gauges on my 2015 RT have been disabled in favor of using the digital display on the screen. Consequently I want to remove both and replace them with something useful and I'd appreciate suggestions. USB ports? Volt meter? Push to eject button? Thanks for...

Long Solo Trips - What Did You Learn About Yourself?

So at the moment no immediate family members are interested in riding. My brother does but he’s in Colorado and about to move to Berlin. My solo rides have all been short so far but a few have been long enough where I have enough idle brain cycles to consider “life”. It got me to thinking...

    Nice weekend ride

Was visiting in laws in Twain Harte and decided to take a short ride to Dodge Ridge ski area. Two shots from a pull out even though most of the ride was thru the pines and one on a coffee break at the lodge. No photos of the prettiest part of the ride thru the pines but you get the idea...

    Zumo 590 Apps

Curious if the 590 has the Sirius, Spotify etc apps downloadable to the unit (not seeing it on the Garmin site). Currently I use the apps on my phone connected to my Sena to listen to the music. I do hit areas where there is no cell signal so using the satellite receiver in the 590 would solve...

Front Wheel “brushing” sound on left side

Hi all, 2015 used RTL with 20k miles with Continental rear tire and the bike had 15k when I got it, I had the 18k mile service a few months ago and they replaced front brakes and rotors. I’m now hearing a rubbing or brushing sound that seems to be coming from the left side in the rear. Is that...

Helmet Life. What should we expect?

This started in the modular thread then I realized I was off topic so now it’s here The 5-7 year rule. I’m not sure where that comes from or how valid it is at this point. I’d assume that as helmet manufacturering technology has improved over the last decade as have materials that this “rule...

The “2019 Where Did You Ride Today” Thread

Hi all, Well it was 75 here in NorCal today and a beautiful day for riding. As I was coming home from Tilden Park/Grizzly Peak I started thinking and hoping that all the states that have had a brutal winter would thaw soon and folks could finally get on their bykes again. Then I thought it...

    Daylight Savings

Is it just me that takes about 4 days to get used to the loss of an hour? Taking a page from Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham (with apologies to Dr. Seuss) “I do not like this time change Sam I Am! I do not like it and will avoid it if I can”! Happy Daylight Savings everyone but Az and...

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Well this is probably as off topic as I can get. I just finished it at age late 50’s. My brother read it back in the 70s as a teen and said it made a huge impression on him. Some interesting things about the author, IQ of 170 at age 9 and graduated high school at age 14. Both explaining why...

    Montreal and the East Coast

Ok so I am looking for help with trip planning. I am taking my family to the Montreal Gran Prix in June. The first 3 days will be all about the F1 race but the next x number of days after that are open. For less than wonderful reasons I don’t want to get into this will be a special family...

    A Thread Worth Responding To

At least I think so anyway, and no it’s not inspired by the fact the McRib is back for a limited time only! So here goes, What’s the best meal(s) you’ve had on a trip? This isn’t just about the food it’s about the experience as well because you are sharing the meal with whoever or wherever that...

Low Brake Fluid Warning Light and How Often Do You Have to Add

2015 RTL, owned for 6 months and put on about 2400 miles So about 1000 to 1200 miles ago I had my first Low Brake fluid warning experience, bike on a slight decline and parking brake won’t engage, orange warning screen etc. Came home and put about 5 cap fulls in it and all was good. Since...

    Brake Fluid Level

Hi all, Newbie question here. Will be doing a coastal ride in a few weeks on the 2015 RTL with 16k miles on it. When checking brake fluid level are you supposed to be able to see it through the side of the tank or do you have to remove the caps? If I’m able to get the fluid changed in time...

    Have I Met You?

Ok, let me explain this. What got me into the Spyder is when I saw my first one 3 summers ago. You and your wife had been touring for a while, pretty sure you were from midwest or east coast I don't remember. I think you had a white RT-L. This was in the town of Klamath in the Calif...

Another “New to Me” Spyder Owner

Agreed to terms with 3-TOGO and picked up his 2015 RT-L today. 45 minute ride home and the bike performed wonderfully. Special thanks to he and his wife for delivering to within 30 miles of my home. Now I have a lot of reading to do!

    I won’t ride when....

As a former private pilot there was a checklist of things that would need to be considered that would help to determine whether to or not to fly. Medical condition, weather that I was not trained for or the plane wasn’t certified for, alcohol (obviously) etc. As a beginner 2 and 3 wheeler I’m...

    RT Seat Comfy or No?

Hey all, just got back from a local dealer that has some 2016 RT-S's for sale. Its been 3 years since I last sat on a Spyder and today I was wearing jeans but I did not think the seat was all that comfy, actually seemed to press into my mid inner thigh in a way that was noticeable. Wondering...
