• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Departing the pattern

Its been a good ride, but I'm moving on from bikes for now. Sold the BMW about a month ago and the Spyder went on Monday to a new owner up in Richmond. Appreciate the help of the group and hopefully I've been of some help as well. In the mean time I have a new weekend ride to tool around...

    A Chinese Harley is coming

Saw this pop up in an email from Adventure Rider, originally published on Motorcycle.com : https://www.motorcycle.com/new-model-preview/what-we-know-about-the-2023-harley-davidson-x350-and-x350ra.html

Test rode a new Harley Tri-Glide

The local HD dealer had the Demo truck in for this weekend, so I thought I would go over and ride something different. I'm not a cruiser guy, I've never been comfortable with the feet forward position or the handebars on their bikes, but it is always nice to be able to get some seat time on...

On vacation, 2010 RT won't start, no cranking

Getting ready to ride the skyline drive, go to start the bike, no cranking at all. Dash lights up fine, but the start button acts like it is disconnected. Checked voltage on battery tender lead, 12.5. battery is less than a year old. Ran fine yesterday. Currently have it on the charger...

998cc Winter Maintenance on the RT

I figured I would post this to help anybody else who comes afterward and has to change a plug or change the vacuum lines on a 998 RT. I've had this bike for about 2 years. It's a 2010 with the semi auto 5 speed. It's been fairly reliable, never left me stranded. We've used it as a TOAD for...

2010 RT, what is the going consensus for new front tires

I almost hate to ask this question since tire threads are so contentious, but I'm still running the OEM tires on my 2010 RT. Now to be very honest, it doesn't get that many miles on it these days since I have two other bikes I ride and we haven't even used it as a TOAD this year behind the...

    2010 RT S Lumpy Idle

I've had this bike for about a year and a half and have put probably 3-4k miles on it. It's never had what I would consider a really smooth idle, I've always chocked that up to it being a V twin. Lately though I've noticed it seems to be idling a bit rougher, I can detect a miss every 5-10...

First trip with the Spyder as a Toad

Wife and I just got back from a 7 day trip in the camper using the Spyder as our "Toad" or towed vehicle. We went north from the Norfolk VA area up to a park in the Northern Neck, Belle Isle State Park. We stayed there for the weekend and then headed north up to a park in PA near Gettysburg...

New DIY Floorboards, Cheap TPMS, Daylight visible turn indicators +more (Many Pix)

I've had this bike for a few months now and I thought I would get around to posting some of my mods here. Floorboards. I've been looking to do some floorboards for quite a while, I finally got around to fabricating a pair made from 1/4" diamondplate aluminum. I got the aluminum when I had some...

Another new trailer to haul the Spyder

Not trying to thread hijack a similar post, but I've also been working on a new trailer to haul the trike. In my case, I recently sold my pickup since it wasn't being used much, so I decided to get a trailer to haul the bike as well as cargo that wont fit in the car. My car has a tow rating of...

Retrofit speakers or audio system to helmet with bluetooth?

I have a 2010 RT and it is a fairly loud bike. Currently when I ride, I use some foam ear plugs to knock down the noise and save what is left of my hearing. I'd like to have a way to listen to music and ideally answer the phone if it should go off when I'm driving. I see that there are various...

Doing some winter maintenance, a couple of questionsTo drain

Doing some winter maintenance, a couple of questions This is a 2010 RT SE5. Plan was to do the first (for me) oil change. Picked up the motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight this afternoon and the bike is now jacked up, sitting on jack stands under the front A arms and the rear tire is sitting...

Working on a rear tire change, need some quick help

So I looked at finless's video as well as lamonsters and read a bunch of threads and thought I had a handle on it all. I tried to drop the lower bolt out of the shock, but it kept pushing down and twisting. I eventually managed to work it out, but reading some more realized that the air...

Starting my Christmas List, what are you asking Santa for your Ryde?

Under extreme threat of pain and death, I have been told not to buy anything for the new bike before the holidays. So I have been compiling a wish list goodies to add to the bike. One of the things I would really like to add is a driver backrest and this is where the confusion starts to set...

Too cold to ride, adding a 12v switched outlet up front where to tap for ignition on?

I'm going to move my Garmin over to this bike and am in the process of wiring up a 12v outlet in the left speaker grill that I want to be powered on when the ignition is on. To that end, I need to find a point in the wiring where I can tap for that voltage so I can use it to energize a small...

New guy looking at an RT with very low miles

Howdy. I don't yet have a Spyder, but am actively looking. I had a motorcycle endorsement from 30 years ago and recently started riding again after taking the MSC with my wife. My current ride is a Honda Silverwing, which I really like, but above 60 on the highway, It gets a bit tense. I'm...
