• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Fuel In Tank "Boiling"

On another of the forums a couple of owners have smelled gas after a 70mi ride and on opening the tank have seen it "boiling". One owner that saw this has a brand new RT with only 200mi or so on the machine. While it's certainly possible to boil gasoline it just seems unlikely that that is...

I have 5500 mi on the Spyder and just getting ready for a trip to NC. Replaced the battery with a new Oddessey battery. The Yuasa was getting weak. Changed the Y pipe gaskets (the old ones were just fine) used the Honda ones. Torqued the front sprocket bolt it was fine at 88ft/lb Changed to an...

    The Steering Issue, Some Observations...

    1. It doesn't affect many Spyders. 2. When affected Spyders get their DPS unit replaced, the new unit seems to have a high failure rate as reported by BUDS requiring the order of another unit. 3. These two observations are at odds with each other. Either the factory that produces the DPS is...

    Loose Ends.....

When I tie down the duffle on the back of the Spyder I end up with loose ends on the tie down straps that flap in the wind. Typically I just tie the loose ends down to the straps with overhand knots. Is there a more elegant solution?

    Clear, Dry and 21F......

I would have loved to have ridden today but what I own won't keep me warm at that temp. Do any of you ride in those temps with regular gear or do I just need to bite the bullet and wire up with heated gear? A poll for those of you that actually have cold weather riding......riders from...

    Dielectric Grease......

A few years back when I still owned a Jeep, one of the things that I did is waterproof the electrical system. Actually more like splashproof. The process consisted of using liquid electrical tape Amazon.com: Plastic Dip Intl. LET14Z01 Liquid Electrical Tape: Home Improvement on the outside of...

    92 Octane and Surge

Needed gas and pulled into the station. There was no 87 Octane . I've always used 87 with no problems at all. Thought well, I guess I'll just try the 91 and see how she runs. 30mi down the road and I've got a very noticable surge at around 5000 rpm. :gaah: Now I'm going to have to...

Why Spyders Airbox Is The Way It Is.....

With some people just willy-nilly modifying the airbox on the Spyder..... I thought that you might like some reading about why it's designed the way it is with snorkles and all...... http://www.saltmine.org.uk/randy/airboxdesign.html

    Canisterectomy

After all the fire reports, some associated with the strong smell of gas. And after coming back from a 100 mi. ride and parking the Spyder and then walking back into the garage an hour later to the very strong smell of gas. I was worried. I concluded that there were only two sources of gas...

Heat on Left Leg No Foil on Foam!

As the days warm, the heat on my left leg where it touches the tupperware has become uncomfortable. Opened up the left side and noticed that unlike all the rest of the foam in the engine bay the two upper pieces have no foil covering . Pretty sure they're supposed to come from the...

    Pulls Left

Even on a crowned road the Spyder pulls to the left. Not hard it just drifts that way. Short of taking it to the dealer is there anything obvious that I should look for? The tire pressures are good.

    Right At Home.....

I've heard all the sad stories of howling brakes and burn spots on the exhaust, but hey not on my Spyder :D Well, today at 610mi the brakes started squeeling with a new low moan from the rear brake when backing up :yikes: and while washing the machine today I noticed the burn spot on the...

    Mudflap lights.....

Got the Triple Play II, Tipz lights and the mudflap lights from NoMagicNeon. The mudflap lights were supposedly beta units so the Magic man sent them along minus instructions and minus cost:clap: It was a cold, rainy and just all around miserable day so perfect for working on the Spyder in a...

Juice Box, EGT and O2 Sensors..........

Bear with me as I think out loud (so to speak) here. Many years ago I used to fly an Aeronca Champion. It had a Lycoming 4 cylinder air cooled engine with updraft carborator. Now because it was an airplane and we were constantly changing altitude there was a mixture adjustment on the carb so...

    Cal-Sci Turbulance....

Got in the Large Cal-Sci windshield (I'm 5'11"). No risers on this Spyder yet. Took it for a ride and couldn't believe the outrageous amount of noise generated in my helmet (Shoei RF1000) :yikes: This thing is knocking my head all over the place, so much so that I was getting motion sickness...
