• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    I got clotheslined!

Yesterday morning while riding to work it was very windy. Without any warning, all of a sudden there was a power line hanging down in front of me. There was no time to react. The road has a 45 mph speed limit, and my gps recorded I was doing 49 mph. I saw the wire a split second before it hit my...

Haven't had this happen before - Cannister pre-filter full of water!!

Today I did the 28k mile service on our 2021 F3L. I know a lot of people don't bother changing out the canister pre-filter. Well, imagine my surprise when the original filter was full of water! I don't mean a little bit, I mean FULL. I can't imagine how this much water was able to get in there...

    Nitpicking the 2024 RT

Saw a couple of new 2024 RT's Friday. Both were already sold and awaiting pick up. I saw two things I don't care for on them though. If you look closely at the top of the side bags, you'll see a triangle shape with a different finish. These are simply stuck on decals for looks. I wonder how long...

Info that might help when replacing front sprocket!

Not wanting to wait the month a local dealer told him it would take to do the front sprocket recall, a friend asked me to replace it. I've already done 4 or 5 replacements, and found that some will slide right off, and others will bind up on the shaft. This one would not come off easily. Rather...

Anyone tried to Enable Rally Mode using BUDS2?

Has anyone tried to enable "Rally Mode" using BUDS2? It appears to be possible, just not brave enough to try it myself!! This is a screen shot from my own 2020 RTL.

Anyone else found an RT without the wire for lower front Auxiliary light?

Between myself and numerous friends, we have all bought and installed the lower front auxiliary light on 2020 through 2023 RT's. Today I went to install one on another friends' 2022 RTL and found that there is no wire harness attached to the blanking plate installed in that location. I tried to...

    BUDS/BUDS2 Mini VCI Driver Conflicts!

So the latest version of BUDS2 released 09Aug23 (23.2.1 A6CC Update) was acting a little squirrely. I had a lot of difficulty connecting to a 2023 RTL. BUDS2 kept insisting it couldn't find the VCI device, even though it was showing me all the screens. So I downloaded and installed the latest...

F3 Spark Plugs Are Not Your Friend!

I've done a bunch of RT spark plug changes and it's not easy. I was hoping the F3 would be better, but this is how much stuff you have to remove to get to them...

Don't put off that Routine Maintenance!

As a friendly reminder, please don't put off the required routine maintenance on your Spyder. While pulling the rear wheel for a tire replacement, this is the condition I found all 3 wheel brake pads in. Needless to say, these are way beyond worn out, and all 3 rotors will now have to be changed...

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

The factory recommended interval for brake fluid flushing is every 2 years. Yes, of course you can bleed the brakes the old fashioned way, one wheel at a time. However, there is no way to bleed the ABS unit without hooking up to BUDS/BUDS2. During the procedure, BUDS will tell you which wheel to...

Need suggestions for record keeping software

I seem to have developed a reputation as the go-to mechanic in my area. As such I find myself in need of some kind of record keeping software. I would simply like to keep searchable records of which/who's bikes I worked on, what I did to them, and what I charged them, so I can be consistent and...

New version of BUDS2 out on December 2, 2022

So yet another version of BUDS2 came out on December 2, 2022. It is BRP BUDS2 21.1.0 (7B35 UPDATE). Interestingly, I hooked this up to a friends' 2021 RTL and it wanted to do a firmware update to the cluster. This appears to be the update that recalibrates the Day-Night-Auto function of the...
