• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can dystopian world views be useful to society?

Recently there was an interesting Off Topic thread having to do with an animation expressing a dystopian world view. I thought that, much like '1984' and 'Animal Farm' before it (among many other acclaimed works of fiction), it foretold of a world devoid of personal choice, controlled by a...

A question or two for those who carry firearms on them when riding

Has anyone been in a situation while riding their Spyder when they had to use their firearm for protection? Have you ever had to use your weapon for protection when riding? Do you think riding in America is more dangerous than in other countries where personal firearms are not allowed?

The most dangerous place on earth for me.

I am now a week into my long road to recovery from a traumatic injury that left me re-evaluating our plans for the future. Jane and I are both 75, retired after leading very active lives in the outdoors. Backpacking into wilderness, whitewater river running, mountain climbing, rock climbing...

Cross country midwinter trip on Blizzaks

We are doing a 3-week trip in January. I recently put Blizzak tires on our truck since we now spend our winters in snow country in northern Utah. Our trip will take us south to Arizona then east to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast of Texas. I am aware of the cautions about driving on snow tires...

What is the Learning curve on BUDS like?

I'm thinking of getting a BUDS kit and license. What is the learning curve like? Is it helpful in chasing down electrical gremlins, like those posted on the Forum recently?

Anyone with BUDS within 100 miles of Salt Lake City, Utah?

So far, I haven't needed BUDS to clear codes, etc after performing any maintenance. BUT, I know the day will come when that happens. I used to have a trailer I could use to carry a disabled Spyder to the dealer (50 miles away), but no longer have that option. So, I'm wondering if there is anyone...

Fully sintered vs semi-sintered brake pads and rotor types

I'm looking to upgrade my braking system for more stopping power than the OEM system which is already pretty good). I've read several threads on SL having to do with brake pad replacement mostly, plus tech articles from different sources and descriptions at the EBC website...

Need Additional stopping power for when towing? Ideas?

When towing our Lees-Ure Lite trailer for a camping trip, I figure our total loaded weight riding 2-up with gear and fluids runs about 1850#. I'd like to increase the rig's stopping power for safety reasons and figure I have two possible options; upgrade the Spyder's brakes or add brakes to the...

Spyder camping trip to Yellowstone NP

Last Thursday, Jane and I hooked up the Leisure Lite and headed north from our home in Oakley, Utah. We spent the first night with friends in Star Valley, Wyoming. Skies clear and temps in the 80s and Spyder was getting 35mpg, towing a trailer, two up and luggage; probably 1850 lbs. The next...

HowTo: Heat wrap Cat Bypass pipe from Lamonster / Baldwin Iron Works

In another thread I showed how to remove the old Catalytic Converter (CC) from a 2014 RT. In this thread, I show the bypass pipe, the fiberglass tape I used to provide additional heat barrier to the pipe, and the optional baffle and plug (which I chose not to use). The kit comes with the pipe...

HowTo: Remove Catalytic Converter (CC) from 2014 RT

I got the Cat Bypass Pipe kit from Baldwin Iron Works. It came with a tool for removing the 3 springs that hold the front pipe of the CC to the engine exhaust. There is a clamp with a 13mm bolt holding the back pipe of the CC to the muffler. These all need to be removed. The top spring is hard...

Lamonster / Baldwin Iron Works cat delete - baffle or not?

I have a Monster Stage 2 ECU Flash and now I'm installing the cat delete pipe. I'm a little confused about whether or not I should install the baffle and if so, should I also install the plug in the baffle? I've read all the threads I can on the subject and found nothing definitive...
