• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Reuben Run RTE #6

This isn't a Spyder specific event but if you like good food and folks the best Reuben to be had is here in central Oregon. This will be the sixth year for this event. We usually have 40-50 bikes and riders. All makes are invited except for idiots. There are usually 3-4 Spyders in the group The...

    Bleeding question

I'm thinking while the tricycle is on the lift, I might as well flush the brakes. Reading the manual it says front calipers, rear caliper and the VCM. It also says the budds needs to be used. What is the VCM and why can't it be bled like other bikes with ABS??. I've bled tons of brakes but...

    New Hitch

Got the 15rtl on the lift to fabricate a proper trailer hitch. The owners manual shows how to get most of the plastic out of the way but doesn't show how to get the rear plastic out of the way. Any pictures or directions would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of the wheel mounted hitch beating...

    More tire S@#T

I wish I had known how much better my RT would handle with real tires on the front. The Kendas still had plenty of tread so I hated to waste them but went for the KH16 Kuhmo in 175/55-15. I'm fortunate to have complete shop facility's so I mounted and balanced them yesterday and did a test ride...

    triaxis bar question

I've been searching for an answer and reached the frustration point. I need to get the bars farther away from me and can't seem to find out what the range of adjustment is for the really spendy tri axis bars. This would be on a 2015 RTL. thanks

    rear plastics

Does anybody here have any pictures of an RT with all the rear plastics off and Just how do you get all of it out of the way???? I want to build a proper hitch but have no idea where the frame ends and what there might be to attach brackets to. I talked to Bushtec and they have no plans soon to...

    tire observation

At 8200 miles the rear tire on my 15 RT is gone. The interesting part is how poorly it was molded. When I checked it after the last trip it had 4/32 tread on one side and 180 degrees of rotation later it is below the wear bars. Glad I didn't assume that all was well. that might explain some of...

    limp mode today

my 15 rtl went into limp mode todat. the display showed a vss problem and the engine symbol was lit up. owners manual said take the key out and wait a bit. that seemed to make it happy but I'm many hundreds of miles from a dealer in wyoming. I may have hed my foot to close to the brake so could...

    power steering

I've looked around but didn't find an answer. How does one know if the power steering is working properly?? On my 15 RT I feel a good bit of steering assist at parking lot speeds but above that virtually nothing. Last weekend we did about 300 miles of twisty roads and it the tight stuff power...

    Smooth Spyder

For those that have installed the smooth spyder tensioner , What are you setting belt tension to before the installation and where are you setting the tensioner. I'm going to readjust in the morning with my pillion on board as recommended but there is a S#%t ton of leeway between old spec and...

    Hand brake

I just installed and tested the hand brake kit from ISCI. It's a pricey farkle but very well made and will make life easier on my arthritic lower back. I had some issues with bleeding the system and contacted the builder. they were great to deal with and offered to overnight new parts if needed...

    Oil change observation

Just finished the first oil change on my 2015 RT. The last two bikes I owned were a FJR1300 and a GL1800 wing. They were the most convenient bikes around to change the oil. The Spyder is just the opposite. It's easy to get the oil out but the cluster f@#k to change the filter should have gotten...

    Hitch questions

Does anybody have a trailer hitch that mounts to the frame instead of the swing arm. With the trailer directly connected to the swing arm any and all movement of the rear wheel is transferred straight into the trailer which raises hell with carbonated drinks in the cooler. I never had an issue...

    Reuben Run 5

We have riders from all over the country come to this event for the food, roads and people. The dates this year are Sept. 16-18. I know...

    2015 oil leak

My 2015 RT has started marking it's parking place in my shop. From what I can see it is leaking from the seal at the forward pulley running down and across the frame and dripping on top of the catalytic converter. people following me say they see a puff of smoke some times and when I stop is...

    belt tension

does anybody use a spring type belt tension guage. I need to realgn the belt and want to set tension without buying the fancy sonic meter. I'm chasing the belt vibration. I'm told it's always there but changing belt tension will control the speed where it happens.

    alignment spec.

I read about the benifits of getting the alignment set properly but I haven't found the actual setting. My new RT limiteddrives like an old truck with the wheels toed out to much. what is the spec so I can check it out? I know everbody faves about the laser method but it's just measuring whats...

    headset question

I'm coming from a wing and would like to keep using the headsets I have. The folks at J&M tell me I just need to get new lower cables and plug them in but where would they plug into the RT. I'm thinking there is more to it than new lower cables. I really don't want to reinvent the wheel and...

    Hitch and wiring

Brought home a new RT yesterday and now it needs a hitch. Does anyone here use the show chrome hitch and wiring harness and if so how much of a pain is it to do the wiring?? The hitch install looks easy. looks like running wires to the battery not so much. TIA While I'm asking questions, what...

    Another newbie

Just signed up to start my research. Current rides are a goldwing, FJR1300 and a KLR650. After a couple close calls on the last cross country trip with the wing wanting to take a nap at low speeds on uneven surface along with some spine issues has me thinking about three wheels . I'm not a fan...
