• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New main computer, odometer reset to Zero - any way to reset to show proper milage?

My dealer was working on my machine (2014 RTS) and fried the main computer (which I had to pay for). Something about checking CANBUS. The new box reset my odometer to zero. Is there any way to go into the system (BUDS maybe?) and add back my original accumulated mileage? This is a sore...

Ride comparison between previous and current generation RTs

I have a 2014 RTS. Is there any real difference in ride comfort and handling between the 2014-2019 RTs and the current generation? I've never been thrilled with the ride and handling; my RTS still feels choppy. Coming off a BMW, it's like moving from a Miata to a Ford F-250 dually. It gets...

Honda's pulling the plug on the Gold Wing (and Yamaha on the FJR)

They can't tweak the engine any further to comply with ever-tightening pollution requirements, and it isn't fiscally viable to create a new engine. https://www.ericpetersautos.com/2022/08/04/more-news-youve-probably-not-heard/

So, I got back from the dealer...... Update!

I went in to get a new rear tire (Kenda, spit). Been waiting since April for some to come in. I got back on the road to hear brake squeal when I applied the brakes. Really hard to tell from which wheel, since I was in downtown traffic. As I got out into the suburbs away from traffic, I...

2014 RT-S went in for Spring tune-up - Instrument cluster now dead!

So I took my 2014 RT-S in for Spring tune-up, mainly oil & filter, new rear tire (backordered, maybe June), and a non-functional air compressor for the rear air shock. Tech calls me. He asked if I had had any issues with the instrument cluster (no). They traced the compressor problem back to...

Any more feedback on Kenda Kanines?

I've noted some postings about the Kenda Kanine, mainly "I"ve put some on and let y'all know." So, anyone got a long-term report on a rear Kanine yet?

Anyone got their own BUDS software? Need DESS disabled.

Does anyone in Alabama have their own copy of the BUDS software? I'm starting to have DESS errors (again*) on my 2014 RT-S. One of the fixes is to disable DESS via BUDS, which is something the dealers won't do. If you've got it, I'm willing to meet up to get this done. I'll be checking with my...

Anyone do laser alignment in Alabama?

The front end of my 2014 RT-S has started twitching again, as it did when I first bought it in 2014, and the front tires are starting to wear on the inside edge of the tread. I had a laser alignment soon after I bought the bike, but the third party (not a dealer) that performed the alignment is...

    Laser alignment, or toe-in problem?

I'm trying to determine whether I need another laser alignment, or whether I merely have a toe-in problem. Recently my 2014 RT-S has become a bit twitchy at the front end, especially at interstate speeds. I also noticed the front tires are wearing a bit in the inside edge of the tread. My first...

Spyder mods after a back injury

I'm looking for feedback from other Spyder riders who've suffered back injuries with some lingering discomfort, on what mods worked to alleviate discomfort while riding. I had a compression fracture of the T4 vertebra, fixed via kyphoplasty. However, the procedure left me with some minor...

Can Am Spyder survey -- "Error 404"

Got a survey from Can Am via email yesterday. Clicked the link to go to the survey, and I get an Error 404. "No webpage was found for the web address." I'd attach a screenshot, but my computer's not cooperating tonight. Do I miss anything by not taking the survey? Another chance to rail at...

    Transient DESS error message

My turn in the DESS circus. I have a 2014 RT-S (that seems to be a common theme in many of the DESS threads I've read!) with 32K miles. About 2 weeks ago I went to start my 2014 RT-S and the screen said "DESS" in orange letters across the bottom of the screen. No "bad key" icon, just the...

    Non-OEM tire installation?

Does anyone know of someone in the south-central (Montgomery area) who can mount a non-OEM tire on a Spyder? My former go-to guys (ISCI in Montgomery) no longer offer that service, and they admit they don't know of anyone else in the area. And my local dealer won't install a non-OEM tire. Thanks!

My wife got me a Spyder for my birthday!!!!

Chocolate!!!! :2thumbs: (Oddly enough, we were at the dealer's today dropping off my bike (a 2014 RT-S) for some work. She looked at a new 2018 RT and asked, "Does this have anything new you want?" Then she asked the salesman standing there, "How much is my husband's bike worth on a...

    Saddlebags popping open

My saddlebags have popped open 3 times recently, twice on the left, once on the right. Lost a rainsuit before I noticed the warning on the display. Yes, I always lock the saddlebags before rolling, and yes, I close the lids firmly. I have learned not to carry anything in the bags (thank God...

    Spyder dealer GPS file question

I'd like to import Can Am's Spyder dealer file into my Garmin Nuvi 40, but I don't know if it's compatible with my dinky GPS. BRP's website has two choices: Zumo 590 and Zumo 660. Can I do a drop 'n drag into my device via my computer? Is it even compatible? I'm thinking I'm out of luck, as...

    Kumho Solus -- Initial impressions

Last week I installed a pair of Kumho Solus KH16s on my 2014 Rt-S (155/60R15) after 14,600 miles on the original Kendas. Holey moley, what a difference!!! Over the last several months, when I glanced down at my front tires, the left one was a solid spinning disk as you would expect, but the...
