• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A new issue with the bags

I've had a side case open while driving 3 times now. It was not the same case each time (once right , twice left). I haven't lost anything yet, but I did have to turn around and retrieve a bag yesterday. I'm not sure why this is happening because I'm usually pretty good about making sure that...

    Questions about CB

I'm thinking of switching from the Bluetooth dongle to the CB. Will, I loose my passenger comms, connection to the GPS, and Ipod connection thru the headset. This having to recharge all this crap (phone, helmets, etc) is starting to get to me. Plus I would like the CB for connection to my...

    Back from the Gaspe

I'm back from the Gaspe, I've now got 2 days to do some laundry, clean up the trike, and then I head South for New Jersey for the weekend. The Gaspe was wonderful, great food, great people, great scenery, and great riding with good friends. What more can you ask for? I only got a 1/2 day of...

    Well, the bike is packed

and I'm ready to go (sounds like the beginning of a song :roflblack:). I'm headed 300 miles North towards the Gaspe early tomorrow morning.:clap:I'll meet my friends at Saint Georges and then we'll head out for two weeks of riding (and great food) up onto the Gaspe. I get the honor of...

    Something weird with the DESS

My bike has started throwing DESS errors (P0513) in the past couple days, but if you shut it off, then turn it back on without removing the key, it goes away until you turn it off again. Next time you go to start it, same thing. So last night, I tried turning off the Bluetooth sending unit in...

I just spent the best $800 I ever spent

on my Spyder. I already had put the BajaRon sway bar on and although the ride was better, It still wasn't what I was looking for. The Elkas 1+R's just went on this morning along with a recheck and slight adjustment to the Laser alignment. What a difference in both handling and ride. It not...

    New Tire went on Friday

My dealer installed a 215 / 60 / 15 Michelin Hydroedge on Friday, I put 400 miles on it yesterday, and I couldn't be happier. It handles better than the stock did and corrects the speedometer to be "on" with the GPS. I'll need some long term testing in the rain, but I have high expectations...

    Tire storage life

Since it seems every time you find a tire you like they discontinue it, how long do you think one would last in storage if I bought a spare while I can still get it? Is there anything special you should do to it to make it last longer?

On another quest for a new seat

Well, I changed from the stock seat to an Ultimate a month ago, but that's not making it for me on the long trips. The Ultimate is a great seat, but it must be pressing on a nerve in my right thigh because after about 300 miles, I can't lift my right leg high enough to use the brake and that...

Your opinion on ABS on trikes - good / bad

When I was at Americade, I had the chance to talk to most of the major conversion trike builders there. Only one, Hannigan, said they maintain the ABS when they build a trike. The rest said they disable it and that you didn't need it on trikes. This is a premise I tend to dis-agree with. If...

Fox adjustable shocks for RT w/ price and PN

Just so it doesn't get lost in the clutter, here's what I found at the dealers this morning My dealer quoted me $500 for the kit (plus installation) and the kit PN is 219400588 Personally, I now have to make up my mind if the difference in cost and the lack of downstream warranty issues is...

Can we all do each other a favor

and stop these personal attacks. They make me uncomfortable and they are counter productive to the purpose of this forum. If you don't like the way someone writes things or the way they come across then just stop reading their posts or place them on your ignore list. There is no need to make...

    What's your favorite Ice Cream

There are several "controversial" posts going on right now so picking up Bob Denman's theme I thought maybe one a little lighter and less confrontational might go down well; My favorite is an old New England recipe called Indian pudding Here how you make it Indian Pudding Ice Cream This ice...

    Americade Report

Weather was pretty decent and I saw quite a few Spyders at Americade, not a hoard of them, but a good presence. We got rain once, but it was while we were eating supper and it was over by the time we were done. I clocked about 1500 miles running around up there, including some 95 deg days with...

Fox adjustable shocks for 2013 / 2014 RT's now available

I had a talk with the BRP rep at Americade and he tells me that Fox adjustable shocks are now available for the 2014 RT thru BRP. In fact he showed me a pair installed on his 2013 RT. They are not yet in the catalog, but the dealers have been sent a bulletin.

Updates on carrying canes on a Spyder RT

I look thru the posts, but none of the recommendations "tripped my trigger". Anybody come up with a any more good alternative ways of carrying a cane on a Spyder?

    Hand operated Brake

Is there any reason we go to all this trouble to hook up a mechanical unit to the foot brake and don't simply splice the handle bar hydraulics right into the brake system somewhere between the footbrake and the ABS unit or is the ABS unit incorporated into the fookbrake?

    Whose our "resident" electronic expert

Ok, here's the deal. I was unhappy with the external speakers, so I installed the Bluetooth dongle and put a Bluetooth receiver and speakers in a helmet. It works fine at low speed, but above 40-50 mph it becomes garbled as you have to keep increasing the volume to overcome the wind noise in...
