• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm still here, but not looking often

I got a; "where have you been" inquiry recently. I haven't been looking in on the forum much lately. There are so many people now in the forum that messages move down quickly so I haven't kept up. I still haven't even had the steering mod done on my Spyder #3003 done yet! :lecturef_smilie: Been...

    Fan override switch ????

I saw mention of a fan override switch in one of the threads about trouble codes and batteries running down. I haven't visited this forum much lately and I haven't heard about this switch before. Is this something already on the Spyders that I was unaware of, or is this a switch people are...

    Steering recall, huh???

I've read about some steering problems on this forum, but I haven't heard about a BRP Spyder steering recall. Now, I've noticed some comments about a steering recall on a couple of postings about other subjects. I would think this would be important enough that BRP would contact Spyder owners...

Mounted my CHad from NMN but parts error

All went well with mounting the CHAD, after I trimmed the top corners as others have done. However, there is an error in the parts call-out. The parts list says there are 8 rubber washers 1/16" thick and 4 rubber washers 1/8" thick. It is exactly the opposite. So I had to use the eight 1/8"...

I guess BRP doesn't know I already own one

I keep getting promotional mail from BRP trying to induce me to take another Spyder test ride. Hell, I "test" ride my own Spyder all the time :dontknow: Actually, I think the problem stems from them having my full first name recorded as a Spyder owner, and my shorter name "Frank" as the guy who...

    I'll blame Lamonster!

OK, I've removed the two splash pans, like Lamonster did, so I can have better engine cooling, while riding in the desert this summer. Now, if my engine falls out; :gaah: I'll blame Lamonster"! A question for the man himself; did you notice any difference in how much hot air hits your feet...

    Key locked in trunk!

My undying thanks to the persons who posted awhile back about getting into the trunk when you have locked the key in there :banghead:  Now I've done it! I was out on a lonely desert highway when I stopped to look at an old ranch. I put my helmet in the trunk of the Spyder and walked...

    Spyder, reputation for unreliability?

Have any of you heard anything like this? In the complex, where my shop is, there is a motorcycle rental outfit. I've gotten to know the owners and the other day I was talking with them and I asked if they had considered renting out CanAm Spyders (they've seen mine before). The reply shocked...

    Trikester's mods

I'm a low mod guy, just two so far. Maybe I could convince you that the trike shown in my profile is my highly modified Spyder. Then, I also have a bridge to sell. :D #1 - Factory 1" riser (I'm 6' 3") #2 - Hand Brake, hydraulic operated, based (with some of my changes) on the original mod...

    Drive belt position???

Does anyone have the required (stated in the manual) 1mm minimum distance between the side of their drive belt and the flange on the rear cog? Ever since I got my Spyder my belt has been right up against the flange. When I rode with Lamonster, last August, I noticed that his belt was the same...

    SMOKSTER - Was that you?

SMOKSTER - Was that you? This afternoon (8/20) I was getting gas at the 76 station on the corner of Tustin and 17th in Costa Mesa when two up on a silver Spyder came up Tustin and turned right on 17th. It looked like your bike but I couldn't tell if it was you or not. :dontknow:

    Big increase in MPG

I finally got around to measuring the mileage I got on my ride with Lamonster in the Julian CA area. 39 MPG! A lot of the riding that day was twisty mountain roads, not exactly conducive to good mileage. What makes this so amazing is that I only have about 700 miles on the Spyder. On my...

    Border Patrol

On the lonely desert highway that passes my Anza-Borrego cabin there is a Border Patrol checkpoint. Just some trailers out in the blazing desert sun - poor devils, they sure earn their money. I rode my Spyder to Ocotillo for a couple of cold ones and on the way back to my place I expected to be...

    Spyder in Idyllwild CA

I saw a Spyder in Idyllwild California yesterday evening. Was that anyone on this forum? I was riding one of my Yamaha TWTrike conversions and passed by some kind of motorcycle happening where they had the street barricaded. I was meeting friends for dinner so I couldn't stop to check out the...

    "Dead Man" switch ?

On both of the trikes I built from Yamaha TW200's (see profile photo) I put in a dead man switch which I clip to my belt every time I ride. It has a coiled cord that would pull a clip out of the switch if pulled tight. I'm surprised that the Spyder doesn't have this, at least as an option. With...

Sold BMW Z4 Roadster, more room for Spyder

I just sold my BMW Z4 Roadster to Carmax to make more room for my Spyder Roadster. The Z4 was a 2003 and only had 11,769 miles on it but I only got $16,000 from Carmax. However that replaces most of the cost of the Spyder. As can be seen from the mileage, I didn't drive the Z4 much and I...

    Freak'in Nightmare!

I just installed the handle bar riser. Hence the subject statement "freak'in nightmare" I can't imagine they could have designed the steering with more difficult bolts to remove if they had been trying (maybe they were trying). If it hadn't been an inch higher, with the new riser, I'd still be...

258 miles - less than two weeks.

258 miles in the first two weeks! That's after not even getting to ride it for the first two days I had it. Yahoo! BTW - The local sheriff said; "I won't pull you over unless you are going really fast". Hmm..... maybe I should have asked him to define "really fast". ;D FC

    First road run

Today I went from my desert (Anza-Borrego) cabin down San Diego County S-2 & had a couple of carne asada tacos at Ocotillo (old 80 Cafe) and headed east on old highway 80 to El Centro. When I arrived in El Centro I didn't get off the trike I just went around a block and headed back on old 80...

    Stupid safety message waiting?

Is there any way to disable the dumb safety message that I have to wait for, before I can push "M", and then start the bike? This is driving me nuts :edit: Frank
