• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Checking In

Hey there! It's been a long time since I posted. Just wanted to let you know I was still alive. Hopelessly out of date, haven't toured in some time, but still riding and still twisting wrenches. Hopelessly out of date: I have to admit that I have never even ridden a 1330, and never even sat...

When Will The Last Snow Pile Be Gone In Your Town?

I thought it might add a little levity to this relentless winter to take a poll asking when you think your snow might be gone. It may not help, but it sure can't hurt. :roflblack:

Grandpa Is The Guy With The White Beard!

Our daughter gave birth to our first grandchild Wednesday. Wednesday was actually her due date and we were worried, because a mean snowstaorm shut down the highways in and out of the city Wednesday morning, and she had to travel to a hospital in a town about 20 miles away for the delivery...

Since the recent update, the entry boxes in the advanced search are very narrow...only about half the text entered actually shows.

    The Log House Project

As many of you know, we are building a half-log house. It took a long time to get started, after a number of misfires and delays. We are finaaly making regular progress. I will try to post videos here as we move along. From the Road The House Site Preliminary Grading Day Zero

    Old Bones Update

As some of you know, I dislocated my right thumb in July at Vintage Motorcycle Days. In the process I mananged to rupture the UCL in the thumb, tearing it away from the bone and leaving one side of the joint unattached. I had successful surgery to repair it Thursday. I would like to thank all...

What Do You Do When You Aren't Riding?

This has been covered in some fashion a couple of times, but it seemed to be a good time to resurrect it. I have not been able to ride for a month, after injuring my thumb, and I have a few more months to go, so I needed to get my fix somehow. Since I got my Spyders, I have sadly neglected my...

    Good Days and Bad

Today was an interesting day. Started out rainy and cold, like so many of our days this summer. No matter, I had to go to the doctor anyway. That didn't turn out so good. A couple of weeks ago, I did a slow speed tip-over on rough pavement at Mid-Ohio during Vintage Motorcycle Days. My...

    I Remembered!

My RT is in the shop awaiting a new DPS and another throttle body. Today I rode one of my bikes, for the first timer on two wheels in nearly a year. I remembered... 1. How to start it (no MODE button but a manual choke and a fuel shutoff) 2. Where the turn signal switch was 3. To cancel...

    Sorry!

Due to increasingly overwhelming circumstances, Nancy and I will not be able to make Spyderfest this year. I just cancelled our room at the host Comfort Inn, so if anyone needs a room, a quick call could nab you a non-smoking king room. We will miss you all, but between Nancy's illness, our...

    Internet Explorer 10

Updated to the latest version of IE 10 a couple of days ago. It took me a while to make the connection, but afterwards I was unable to utilize the <Enter> key in posts or PMs to create a new paragraph. I reverted to IE 9 and everything is OK. Don't update to 10, it has a fatal flaw. The...

    Slowly, but Surely

I haven't mentioned anything more about the house project. The reason for that is that we have been struggling to get an acceptable plan from the designer. I handed him a plan to start with, but it repeatedly wasn't translated well. We were close to giving up and starting over, but Friday we...

    What Was Your First Car?

OK, Dave started this topic on his blog. I think Teddy put him up to it. What was the first car you owned yourself? If you would like, you could also tell what you learned to drive in or first drove. My first car was a 1954 Chevy 4-door Belaire. Robins-egg blue and white, two-tone. It used...

They're Coming To Take Us Away!

For those of you that have been around for a while, you may recognize the subject as a take-off on an old song from 1966. I'll let it go at that, but it aptly describes our condition. Nancy and I have been seriously looking at land for many months. On Thanksgiving Day we took a long Spyder...

    AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2012

Many of you know that Nancy and I head off to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course every July for Vintage Motorcycle Days. I stage the bike shows there, and Nancy works the bike show registration. The AMA has published a great Web article on this year's event. I thought you might like to see what...

    Stoned! My belt that is!!

Friday, while in another city, I picked up a stone in the rear sprocket. I was passing an area where they were chip sealing the other lane, and must have picked up a stray or two. I immediately heard a loud clicking, and felt a strong vibration ort thumping. Before I could pull to the side, I...

    Vintage Motorcycle Days

We're off for our annual pilgrimage to Mid-Ohio for AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days in a couple of hours. We woke up (very early) to power outages, but the lights came back on about 6 AM, so we are going to be good to go. I was worried the outage could delay us. I hesitate to leave under those...

    Home At Last!

We finally got home from the Durango trip this evening. Sixteen days and about 4,300 miles...no real problems. I apologize for dropping the trip blog I started, but my netbook died two days out and the phone wasn't a viable substitute. I'll fill in the gaps and details there later. Still...

Durango or Bust...and Back Home Again

Day 1: Battle Creek, MI to Anamosa, IA We left Michigan on a cool (48 degrees) sunny morning. It stayed bright and sunny throough the entire day. Rode the Interstate most tof the way to Iowa. I thank Dwight Eisenhower every time I ride it. Fairly sparse traffic on a Thursday...even the...
