• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Improved 12V in Cockpit

When I first got the bike (2013) I bought an extra speaker grille from Cheap parts -- it was just a few bucks. Then I took the original out and drilled it for a 12 socket. I wasn't sure where to pick up switched or where the fuse box was, so I used an inline fuse and dropped it to the "jumper...

RT 2013 Frunk Button and trunk pistons (?)

For some reason the electric frunk release doesn't work reliably anymore. I jam the button down a few times it might eventually work, so I know there is power getting to it, etc. It isn't just dead, just maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 times. I haven't started looking at it yet, but was wondering if...

Best Bluetooth Solution I've found so far

I have a cheap eBay iPod in the back and I've tried many things to get decent Bluetooth without taking up the iPod port. I think I found it. The only problem is, it depends on a previous mod I did. Still, you probably have a similar mod. Here's a picture: Try not to snicker at my playlists...

Frunk Liner (and why I've been quiet)

I'm trying to put in the frunk liner. It has velcro tabs but clearly I have to take somthing apart to get to some of them. I can probably figure it out, but I was surprised no one seems to have instructions. Any advice? As to why I'm doing this and why this is my first post in awhile... if you...

    Bluetooth instead of iPod Solution?

My 2013 has the iPod integration and--to date-- I've used an iPod (bought off eBay with a bad connector for nearly nothing) and I have an FM transmitter connected to a BT receiver. It kind of works, but has all the problems you associate with an FM transmitter. However, I just bought a new...

    Santa's Spyder

I would have said Red Sled, but I think Teddy's got that one ;-) Even though it was a bit cool, Santa took the Spyder around a few neighborhoods and gave out some candy canes to as many kids as he could find. Someone had got Santa those Bugeye goggles as a Christmas present. He said they...

    Drilling Holes in Trunk Lid

I just picked up the Big Bikes trunk rack. It looks good (other than a missing scuff foot used during installation which is no big deal). However, before I start drilling (more) holes in the bike, I wanted some advice (please). The instructions say to use a center punch to mark the holes...

    iPod integration

When I first got the bike, I hooked a bluetooth receiver to the Aux port and liked it. Then I picked up a $20 iPod on eBay with some cosmetic flaws and used that. Great! However, I want to get it to where I can use either with no big effort. It occurred to me that I could break the audio lines...

    Black hole under handlebars

I popped the little plastic part out of the center of my 2013 RT handlebars in anticipation of mounting a phone there. I fumbled the piece when it popped out and it slid down the ridiculous crevice around the handlebars. No luck with a flashlight and mirror -- I think it fell further down. I...

RT 2013 Top Side Panel Removal

I am trying to wire a 12V jack in my speaker grille (so far, so good -- the jack is mounted). I am trying to take off the top side panel to snake the wiring. Here's the problem. The owner's manual says: 1. Open seat 2. Open frunk 3. Remove Side Panel. 4. Remove lower wind deflector screws 5...

    RT-S 2013 Dash Backlight

Probably a dumb question. I just noticed that on my analog dials the MPH is backlight but the RPM is not. t. Not the whole dial but the text that says MPH and RPM. Is that normal or do i have an LED disconnected or burned out. I only recently noticed so don't know if it is recent from service...

Easy Trunk Light for RT (maybe others)

Not exactly rocket science. I started with this: http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-portable-worklight-flashlight-67227.html You can't beat these for the $3 they are usually on sale for. Bright! The only downside is they have 2 positions, but at least it turns off after each one. So the...

    Leaning Right

Took the new 2013 RT-S in for first service. When we got there my wife who had followed me said the bike was leaning. I didn't think much of it nor did the dealer. But on examination they say it is leaning. They can't figure why but factory wants them to swap a shock. Anyone see this before?

Simple $40 X Phone Mount for RT with SE5

The RT handlebars are BIG. Here's how I did a pretty nice mount. Might not work if you have a clutch -- I have an SE5 so I don't know. Start with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004O8LF26 and these two as well: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KWPJ04...

    Another stall in start/stop traffic

I don't think I posted it here, but my ride home from the dealer, I was in rush hour traffic and my new 2013 RT-S just died. Well, having all of 15 minutes experience, I didn't realize that I could not shift to N with the engine not running. I also THOUGHT I had the brake down when starting in...

Gone with the Schwinn: $15 Phone Tank Bag if you can find it

I was at Target today and saw this for $15. Cant' find it on the web anywhere, so it is either new or old: The handlebar straps were Velcro so I though they might fit my 2013 RT-S bar (which is a fatty). It didn't. However, I did get an idea. I put velcro under the glovebox lid and folded the...

    This looks familiar (12V Socket)

http://dx.com/p/youliang-yd-diy-water-resistant-motorcycle-modification-car-cigarette-lighter-socket-black-229735 I order from them some times -- might be worth picking one of these up to see if it fits. I have the liner in the frunk and I don't see any provision in it for exposing the wire...

    Junk in the Frunk

Ok, so what kind of stuff do you "must have" in your frunk/trunk? Here's what I have so far: Small flashlight Hairbrush (her) Baseball cap (me) 2x Garbage bags (cover seat/heads in the rain) Dual USB outlet Bluetooth receiver (hooks up to USB outlet and 3.5mm cable in trunk -- works great)...

    Overheating after killing the engine

Another dumb new guy question. We went out and rode 20 or 30 miles tonight. Typically blistering hot Houston day/night. I have been running my 2013 RT-S (SE5) up at the 4000 to 5000 RPM range as suggested (and it does seem to make a big difference). It also makes your feet get hotter. When we...

Stupid Question: No Right Hand Grille?

I've noticed you can see the fan in the right hand side from the driver's seat pretty clearly. Tonight my wife said, "How come there's not a grille over that like on the other side?" So I looked on the 360 view on the CAN AM site - Sure looks like there is a grille. So I go look at the parts...
