• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Catalytic Converters vs Greenhouse Gases

All of a sudden, folks seem to think that CATs have something to do with greenhouse gases, even though CATs have been around for over 40 years and greenhouse gasses have only been of note outside of certain communities for a decade or so. Those of you who have been around long enough will...

    Glad That's Over

I just finished installing JT's air filter on my RT-S. Of course, the installation itself was child's play. It was getting all the plastic that made up the stock air intake system out that was the majority of the work. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed with the BRP engineers. It IS possible to...

    Kumho Ecsta AST Tire Question

I was talking to someone yesterday about the Kumho Ecsta AST on the rear of an RT. Their comment was that while it would wear longer than the OEM tire it wouldn't provide as much traction or be as safe. What say those of you who have been using this tire?

    A Matter Of Etiquette

Know What Frosts Me? Is when one sponsor steps on another sponsor's post. For example, a member asks about a farkle and a sponsor replies that they have the product the member is seeking. Then another sponsor, who doesn't provide that kind of farkle recommends a different sponsor or...

    Learned Something About Ceramic Coatings

I was talking to a fellow in Springfield who does ceramic coatings. I was asking about how much it would cost to have my headpipes and cat bypass ceramic coated and how much it would help. He made a statement that stopped me in my tracks. He said, "You can't use ceramic coated exhaust systems...

Power Commander V or Juice Box Pro Maps

It is understood if you leave your exhaust stock and change the air intake to something like the Kewl Metal intake, the EFI system on the Spyder will compensate. Likewise, if you leave the intake alone and add a less restrictive exhaust, the EFI has the ability to compensate. However, I am...

    Well, Well, Well

I got my :spyder2: Welcome Kit today, exactly 3 months to the day from the day I bought it. It had the usual stuff: Patch, pin, cards to give your friends, clothing/accessory catalog, and a welcome letter with my first name and a picture of the (almost) model I purchased. I can understand why it...

Another Reason To Buy An Extended Warranty

As noted in a previous thread, I was at Pit Bull today watching Lamont align my :spyder2:. I saw an older RT with most of the tupperware off and the clutch disassembled. I asked the service manager what its problem was. Apparently the warranty had run out and the owner hadn't purchased an...

I Got A Lamonster Laser Alignment!

And it didn't do a blooming thing. nojoke Of course, it wasn't Lamont's fault. It turns out my :spyder2: was aligned perfectly when the guys at Pit Bull installed the Elka shocks. Lamont verified that fact and since he didn't have to make any adjustments saw no reason to charge me.

Heat Issues? I Ain't Got No Steenkin' Heat Issues!

The steps described below have solved my RT heat issues. YMMV. When I bought my 2013 RT-S, the first thing I did was ryde directly from Pit Bull to Misty Mountain Sheepskin Co. and have them fit a sheepskin to my :f_spider:. Since that time, I've had no problems with a hot seat, hot...

    Had My Recall Done Today

The master cylinder and evap canister were both OK. No signs of melting. I wish BRP could determine why some :spyder2: have this problem and others don't. On a side note, some of you may have read my thread the other day, "Damned Vibrations." So I asked the tech to see if he could figure out...

    Damned Vibrations

Prior to my 600 mile service, which was done at 873 miles, the only time I felt any vibrations on my floorboards was around 5,000 RPM. Once I got to 5500 it was gone and everything was smooth as silk up to 8500. The first thing I noticed after the 600 mile service was increased vibration in the...

    A Question of Torque

In the 2013 Repair and Maintenance Manual, on page 5 of the Drive Belt and Rear Wheel section, it states that the Rear Axle Nut Tightening Torque is 225 N-m (166 lbf-ft). On page 7 of the same section, it states that the Rear Axle Nut Tightening Torque is 130 N-m (96 lbf-ft). That's one heck of...
