• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Throttle delay - can it be fixed by BUDS? Or Pedal Commander?

F3-L 2017 I've noticed when overtaking that there is a slight delay when opening up the throttle and the power being delivered - about long enough for me to say "Come on, Come ON":-). The mate on a bike I was riding with said "Watching you pass is like watching one of those hand held missile...

    New Zealand's TT2000 in 2022

Some here will know that I’m an iron butt nut and of all the rides I do the definite highlight of my year is the annual TT2000. This year there was writeup in a local paper that will gives a good background of what is involved...

Any idea of the F3's Wade depth?

Probably one for the Kiwi/Aussie riders as we're the only ones daft enough to do this sort of thing but anyone know what the wade depth is for the F3? Got a few streams to cross on my next off the beaten track ride. The RS used to do a pretty good job carving its way through but wonder about...

Anyone mount an Adaptiv TPX on F3-T or L? How did you do it?

Anyone mount a Adaptiv TPX on the F3 T or L and if so how did you do it? On my RS I removed the safety card and replaced it with a piece of aluminum that allowed me to mount the radar above the clocks, however with the F3 that is where the cubby hole for phones is. I'm not a fan of mounting...

I promised I'd never do a post about tyres but...

I've always fitted Toyo Proxes T1R's on the back of my 2011 as I've found them far superior to the Kenda's for the sort of riding I do (bendy, mountainous, etc). Unfortunately Toyo have stopped making them and their direct replacement are asymmetrical so not suitable. There are the Proxie...

Nice way to spend a weekend

2928km (1819 miles) in 46hrs 58mins, around 300km of which was on gravel tracks. Knocked off a few more firsts for a Spyder including Nevis Road. Who needs an adventure bike when you have an RS:-)

    Al Noor Mosque ride

One of the Spyder riders in our local group is an attendee of the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch where the recent terrorist attack by a white supremist took place. He asked if the group could come and give some of the kids affected a ride on our Spyders as a treat. We gave the boom trike group...

    My Aux Gas Tank!

About a year ago Bfromla - https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/member.php?16361-Bfromla - and I were discussing aux gas tanks and rear racks on the RS, and I was moaning about the problems of sorting one out over here in New Zealand Firstly, the local dealers wanted about US$900 for the rear...

    TT2000 2019 - South Island, New Zealand

Not been online for a while but thought I'd post a write-up of the latest TT2000 ride as I normally do one here. For those who are not familiar with the TT2000 from my previous posts then the idea is to do a minimum of 2000km in 48hrs (midday Friday to midday Sunday). Which sounds relatively...

    Photo Association Game

Now to try out something a bit different. One person posts a photo, then another person posts a photo based on a association they see with the first... your post should be in response to the post directly above yours and contain a Spyder, motorbike or associated gear. Put a couple of words at...

    TT2000 2018 - South Island, New Zealand

Firstly, thought I’d share this shot from of the Skippers Canyon checkpoint as it sums up why I love this event. There was also a great turnout with 147 riders registered this year with a wide variety of different bikes. There was even another Spyder though I didn’t catch up with them until...

    Longest Day Rally

Well that's another endurance rally done, one of shorter ones but still 1,230kms (764 miles) in 12hrs 15 minutes. This one was along some of the best roads available in South Island NZ. From Christchurch headed west through Arthurs Pass, down the West Coast past the glaciers, through Haast...

    Motorbike Jacket

I've had my current jacket 25 years and it's finally time for it to be retired. I've cut my shortlist down to two possibilities: Rev-it Poseidon Klim Badlands Obviously both these jackets are expensive but I'm hoping to get another 25 years wear out of whichever I buy:-) If you have either...

    Weekend sorted

Well the weather lady is forecasting an Antarctic blast with 120 to 160kmph winds, snow and freezing temp's but I'm sorted as I'll be in the garage fitting my new purchases. Thanks SmoothSpyder Jim and Motorcycle Dave for making sure I don't have the no-spyder-time blues this weekend:

    Last weekend

I remember Dubliner saying a while back that the Spyders in peoples photos on this forum always looked spotless, so just to prove that's not always the case... This is what my Spyder looked like after doing 3556 km (2209 miles) in a weekend. As you can probably tell, some dirt roads were...

    Munted

Well that's one of my favourite "just nipping out" rides munted, probably for good:-( I know you shouldn't really mourn a road but I have a lot of good memories tied up with that bit of highway. There's not many highways in the world where you can pull over to watch seal pups playing at the...

Bacon Buttie Station - Dunedin, New Zealand

Another place to visit for all you bacon addicts (having just seen Commanders post), may be a bit far for some of you to travel though:-) Not sure if the word Buttie is international so in case translation is required it means a large bacon sandwich, normally with brown sauce:
