• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Got our new riding jackets!

The wife and I ordered riding jackets and they arrived this week. The first image is me posing in the Speed and Strength Trial by Fire mesh jacket. My helmet is a Bell Revolver EVO and helmet accessories are the Sena SMH10 and a Midland XTC 200 HD video camera. Cynthia got a pink Fly Racing...

    Riding Video for April 2013

More riding time in April so more riding encounters to show you. Nobody died that I know of, but one of the car wrecks was pretty bad. Neither Cynthia nor I suffered any harm this month, thank the Lord! Below is a list of what is in the video and be sure to check out or web site for more info on...

A short ride turned into 301 miles...

The wife and I set out this morning at 10:00am to go for a ride. We rolled back in the driveway at 6:20pm. We ended up taking a long, leisurely ride starting in our home town of Centreville, Alabama... we rode 65 miles to Rockford, AL to see the grave of "Fred, the Town Dog". Poor Fred, that...

    Our little Spyder adventure...

The wife and I have ridden scooters since 2008 and now we have our Spyder. We still have 1 scooter, they're just too much fun to not have one. Anyway, each year we try to do some sort of riding adventure and for 2013, we are touring our state on a scavenger hunt of sorts. We're out to visit a...

Added a 12v outlet to the dash...

I use an old Droid X smart phone that is not activated for use as my GPS. I needed a turn-by-turn GPS that didn't not rely on cell service to function, so I downloaded the NavFree USA app from Google Play. I also use the MapWithMe app when I just want a map and not turn-by-turn directions...

My speedometer is 2 MPH optimistic...

I always check my speedometers against 2 different GPS units to see how accurate they are. My 2012 Kymco Like 200i scooter is dead on at every speed, but the Spyder is 2 MPH optimistic. Not bad, but it is good info to know. So I can be doing 60 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and I feel like I am...

Anyone else going to the Owner's Event in June?

EDIT 05/27/13: We won't be attending the event after all. ---Original Post--- We were wondering if anyone else from Alabama was heading to the Spyder Owner's Event in June? We'll be riding up on the 12th from Centreville, taking interstate 59N to Gadsden then back roads the rest of the way to...

The gas smell is killing us...

Got the new gas cap in the mail and installed it. Went for a ride the other day and every time we stopped, the gas smell was unbearable. Should I contact BRP directly (if so, how?) or just tell the service department at a dealer? And this is NOT an issue with over filling. I stick the nozzle...

Do you leave your helmet on the bike?

When stopping to go eat, shop, sight-see or whatever... do you leave your helmet and/or other gear on the bike? Our full face modular helmets aren't the most expensive out there, $200 each plus Sena headsets and a helmet cam... so basically a combined value of about $800. Due to short chin...

Grrr... snow in Alabama! Can't ride today!

The snow is coming down today, but it won't stick... only 38 degrees. It has rained for the last 7 days and no sunshine but thankfully, tomorrow the sun will be out again. Just in time for a PGR ride in the morning to the Montevallo National Cemetery.

Difference between Sena SMH5 and SMH10?

We're shopping for Bluetooth headsets to use on the Spyder and from our research, Sena seems to be the way to go. However, in our research, we have not been able to determine the difference between the SMH5 and SMH10 models (other than price). Can someone with experience with Sena enlighten us...

Where to get 12v outlet for dash?

I had the shop disconnect my analog gauges and I want to put a 12v receptacle where my fuel gauge was. I have searched here and online but haven't been able to locate a weatherproof (resistant) 52mm version. Does anyone know of a place to get one? Thanks.

My Experience with Motorsports Superstore in Hamilton, AL

I bought my new 2012 RT-S SE5 about 2 weeks ago from a dealer in Kodak, TN. I tried to buy one from Big Number 1 in Birmingham but they weren't very willing to negotiate plus they bluntly informed me that if I bought a Spyder somewhere else, that I would be treated as a second class customer if...

    600 Mile Service

When changing the oil, oil filter and transmission filter during the 600 mile service, is there anything special I should know? I called my local dealer to inquire about the availability of the supplies needed and he said they do in fact have the new, longer transmission filter but that it...

Where do you get your maintenance items?

For those that do their own servicing, where do you get your oil, filters, etc? Do you only use BRP brand products? I am capable of doing the maintenance items listed as "customer" in the manual, but I do not want to use poor quality products. That being said, I don't want to spend too much...

    We got one!

The wife and I picked up a brand new 2012 RT-S SE5 yesterday! We've been looking for a Spyder for a while and debated on getting a 2013 ST, but couldn't pass up the deal we got on this one. I must say one thing... I never knew how nice heated grips were! It is heavily overcast today but I took...

Potential new owner with a few questions...

I have located a 2010 RT SE5 with 1700 miles on it. It has several professionally made and installed aftermarket accessories like highway pegs, floor boards, hand brake, etc. It is beyond the manufacturer's warranty period and the owner states there are no issues at all with the bike. The...
