• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Brake Failure Warning

I have been getting a brake failure warning for some time and I'm posting in hopes that someone on the forum can help me get this resolved. Let me add that I have plenty of brake and can stand on the pedal and stop on a dime; however, it's troublesome going 70 mph down the interstate with a...

Trip's Over and the Results Are In - Thanks Again J.T.

We cut the trip short by one day (eight instead of nine) and after getting home and unpacking, I had to run the mileage numbers. With 2225 miles of varying driving, i.e. interstate, gently rolling country roads, steep mountain climbs, high-speed twisty runs, and the gentle cruising of the Blue...

    Thank You J.T.

I've got some great news as I close out day three of my nine-day planned outing to North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and back to Georgia. As a reminder, this is my first outing of the year after getting the Spyder back together with mods and upgrades. One upgrade was J.T.'s breather mod...

    Back In The Saddle, Again

Well, I rode my Spyder today for the first time since mid-January and I'm excited. The long saga is over. In the last 17 weeks I stripped the roadster down, sent the pieces to be chromed, waited 2 1/2 months longer than expected to get the pieces back, and finally, spent two evenings and all...

Considering Chroming, Think Twice About This Place

Barring any problems found while unpacking the shipping crate, my chrome plating saga will be coming to an end on Thursday, 101 days after Chrome Pros Plating received my parts. The 4 1/2 week projected turnaround time turned into nearly 15 weeks and I hope it was worth it as I try to get my...

    JT's Breather Mod

Have a look at a sweet breather installation started and completed today. J. T. Thornton's breather mod and great son-in-law's support through the process, not to mention one quick call to Doc Riverside, and now I'm sitting in my easy chair waiting on the chrome to arrive. As bad as I wanted...

    Not Seeking Replies. Just Venting.

In January, I stripped the wheels, sprocket, side castings, floor boards, rider pegs, and brake pedal off my scoot and sent it off for chrome plating. The weather was bad and the chromer didn't receive my stuff until February 2nd. Their, invoice, dated February 3rd estimated four to five weeks...

    Legless Spyder

Well I got disappointing news today that's going to keep me off my Spyder through the end of April. (It's been since early January!) The chromer cannot get a twelve inch section of one of my rims to take chrome. They are adding metal to the rim through an electrolysis process in hopes that...

    Wheel Bearings

I have had my wheels chromed and am looking to replace my rear wheel bearings. I have the Can Am part number 293350067 taken from page 1147 of the manual. Is there a bearing cross reference to where I can get it locally or am I better off calling and ordering them from the Can Am dealer? I'm...

Lower Right Side Casting Removal - It's A Breeze!

After about four hours, it is easy! Anyone who has ever removed the lower side panels (gray castings) for powder coating or plating knows that removing them is an easy, methodical process until you get to the right side where the brake pedal is located, then things get sticky - at least on the...

    Wheel Inserts

I plan to replace my front wheel inserts (black with red Can Am logo) with an eight-legged Spyder insert if I can find it. I've searched the threads and can only find reference to the lighted, GloRyder inserts. Can someone tell me if there is a non-lighted version of this? Thanks in advance...

    Rear Brake Issue - UPDATE

To recap, my rear rotor was scorching hot after riding, my gas mileage had dropped from around 33 MPG to 28, and my drive belt was squeaking, requiring frequent application of belt dressing. My attempt to let a dealer fix it was an $82 bust; however, since I took a flat head screwdriver and...

Help Please - Brake problems on the road

I just arived in Maggie Valley for a six-day stay. My gas mileage recently dropped significantly and there is a noise emanating from the rear wheel assembly.. When I got off the Spyder, I felt the sprocket and hub for heat. They were cool. I then moved on to the rear brake rotor. It was really...

Rotational Squeak in Right Front Wheel

Yeah, I know the title had a redundancy because there is no right rear wheel. My problem is that there is a rotational squeak in the right wheel. (Rotational because as I increase speed, the squeak frequency increases.) Is there a lube point or with days left on my warranty, should I drive...

    Shock Extenders

I'm heading back up to Maggie Valley for a fall trip. The last time, during the rider event, I dragged the front of the Spyder quite a bit. I have Baja Ron's Miracle Anti-Sway Bar and standard shocks. I'm pleased with the current ride, just need more ground clearance. Are the shock extenders...

Time for Experts - Spyder Won't Start

While getting ready for Maggie Valley, I needed to back the Spyder up in my garage where it's been resting since returning from a rather lengthy trip one week ago. She won't start - she just sits there turning over and over (battery is good). Kill switch is in the on position, gas tank if full...

J&M Helmet Speakers Paired with Sena BT Headset - Follow-Up

As mentioned in a previous post, we replaced the Sena helmet speakers with J&M ported models. I knew the J&M's sounded better but was unsure if the speakers would draw down the battery charge more quickly. We did not have any headsets dying before the end of the day so apparently the Sena...

It Can Be Lonely Out There

Eight days, seven states, and 2,241 miles and I only encountered three other Spyders on the road, not counting the two in the parking lot in Biloxi, MS. Riding a Spyder is a far cry from riding my HD, where a "brother" is around every turn. At first I had a real problem being alone on the...

Something Must Be Broken - Probably Won't Take It In For Fixing

Whatever was sucking up my fuel prior to my trip must be broken because I went 2,241 miles in a route that took us through Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, back through Mississippi and Alabama to Tennesee, through a corner of North Carolina, then back home to Georgia, all on...

Good news about gas mileage - Patience is a virtue

We are mid way through an 8-day, 7-state trip and I'm really pleased with the mileage numbers that I'm getting on my loaded up RT-S. Let me set the stage by saying that I've been on here fussing about 23-28 mpg for some time now. I was so concerned when preparing for the trip that I bought a...
