• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question for Spyder ryders in Washington state

I am considering a ride in two weeks (last week of September) that would take me from Burlington (north of Seattle) to Newport (Idaho border). My question is can I take the scenic Washington state highway 20 (North Cascades Highway) this late in the season, or should I instead take U.S. 2...

    "100,000 Miles on Spyder" Club

Now maybe this isn't a big deal for you riders down south, but up here in Minnesota we can only ride Spyder for something like six+ months in a typical year. We spend almost five months a year riding snowmobiles, with a few days in-between the two riding seasons. So it is a big deal for me to...

Could not get 175/55r15 Kumho KH16 to seat on 15" rim

This was a shocker for me. I have been running Kumho KH16 front tires on the 15" rims but in the 155/60r15 size. Love them, but they are 10mm narrower than the stock 165/55r15 Kenda tires. I really wanted to get the width back. I had always wondered if we could get the 175/55r15 size to fit...

    2008 GS Gauge Didn't Work......

So it was the 4th of July and I figured it was a good time to take out my old #006 Spyder, the original 2008 GS. Had not been out all year yet, but I always charge the battery every month, have done so since late 2007. And never have replaced the battery. So I turn the key and the gauge does...

    Laser Alignment at Caswell's Cycle

OK gang, I took my 2013 ST-S to Caswell's Cycle in Mora, MN for a laser alignment yesterday. With almost 26,000 miles and my second set of front tires worn out on the inner edges, I didn't want to put a new set of tires on untill we got it squared up. Arrived at 9 AM, I was out the door by 11...

How many Spyders are over 100,000 miles?

One of the questions I am often asked is how long a Spyder will last. So I am curious, how many of you have put a Spyder over 100,000 miles? I know there are a few, but it would be nice to get a better feel for how many units are truly over 100,000 miles. Of course it is possible, but is it...

    What is it worth?

I seek your opinions on if my 2008 Spyder GS has any extra value over and above what a normal 2008 GS would be worth..... I have serial number 6 of the very first original run of 2008 Spyder GS models. Jay Leno got #001, I got #006. Have had it here since 2007. To the best of my knowledge...

Finally! Picked up my F3-S today!

Happy day indeed, I finally was able to pick up my F3-S today. Was just built and shipped, set-up and waiting. Ran it through a couple of heat cycles and then got a quick 120 miles on it. It is amazing in so many ways - from the 3-cylinder 1330 ACE to the dead-nuts tracking to the locked-in...

    2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 – First Ride Test Report

I just got back from riding the F3 up in Quebec for a couple of half-days. Here is what I learned. I have previously shared bits and pieces of this content in previous posts, but have wrapped it all into one cohesive presentation. Or, at least I tried! For those who do not know me, I am a...

Changes to OEM Rear Tire Construction

It looks like BRP has listened. We’ve just learned that BRP has went back to the rubber compound of what the rear tire had back in 2012. A production change took place in June, so all rear tires produced from that point forward have the longer lasting compound, and they actually went back to the...

2014 RT Front Tire Pressure Spec

For those of you getting a 2014 RT model, the specification for the front tire pressure has been changed to 20 psi +/- 2 psi. I noticed this in the 2014 RT Pre-delivery Instructions, and cross-checked it in the 2014 RT Owner’s Manual. With the heavier engine and heavier vehicle, this seems to...

    2014 Spyder Changes

Was just informed by BRP of some additional changes to the 2014 models, thought it would be of interest to many of you. 1) The 2014 RT-S and RT Limited models will no longer have the push-button electronic front trunk release. They are going to have the same “push the key and turn” trunk...

2014s Go To Orange Long Life Coolant

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but BRP is switching over to Long Life Coolant on most all of their 2014 product lines, including Spyders and Ski-Doos. it is orange in color, and BRP says it is doing so for the longer service life (since so few of people replace coolant in their aluminum...

OEM Rear Tire SHOT at 2,500 miles

Just in case anyone has experienced something similar, my OEM Kenda rear tire was really bald down the middle at only 2,500 miles on a brand new ST-S. I squeaked another 1,250 miles out of it, so it was completely bald in the center section, and I mean completely. Over the course of 65,000 miles...

2013 Spyder ST Limited vs. 2008 Spyder GS

OK, so I just got done with a 75 mile test ride on a 2013 Can-Am Spyder ST Limited. This is a brand new model for 2013, positioned between the sporty rider-lean-forward RS/GS models and the decked out touring RT models that have the rider sitting almost straight up. I found the test ride to be...

    Trailering a Spyder?

Up here in Minnesota it was -5 yesterday morning and now it is snowing. Oh ya, I'm supposed to pick up my Spyder this weekend. Weather looks like riding it home is not an option....so I am asking for suggestions on how to trailer this thing. It's not a bike, not an ATV, not a sled... Being 60"...
