• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Review: 2020 RT side panel plastic rivet find (Joe I'm talking to you ;-)

I was recently in Utah for the Spyder ride in. During which time I had Joe and Ann doing some things to my 2020 RTL. In the conversation/work the subject of the new side panels came up and their design. It appears that BRP has made the side panels in a far more economical way, making work...

HowTo: DIY: 2020 RT chin light (Technically called the "auxiliary" light)

So... Can Am sells what I call the chin light for $254.99. https://can-am.brp.com/on-road/us/en/shop/spyder-accessories/lights-accessories/lights/auxiliary-light.html There is no currently produced aftermarket light available, and the BRP sold light is little more than a beauty...

Review: Lamonster risers for the 2020 RT

I wanted to give a shout out/review for the all new Lamonster Garage 2" risers for the 2020 RTs. In my quest to find the right arm position I first tried the short reach bars, but found them to be wrong. Too close and a weird angle. So I next tried the 2" Rox Risers. The position was good...

Installing short reach bars on the 2020 RTL

I just finished installing the BRP short reach bars on my 2020 RTL and thought I'd post up a few tidbits for anyone thinking of doing the job themselves. The new handlebars are substantially longer than the originals and the difference is rather dramatic. Honestly, I'd rather BRP had something...

2020 RTL in Anthracite Gray for me and my spouse

2020 RTL in Asphalt Gray for me and my spouse Well the wife and I did it too. Well, at least we will on Thursday when we take delivery. ;) I posted up some skepticism about the new bike in another thread, but those doubts were removed once I rode it. To me it is a much better riding...

    Cam chain tensioner problem?

I've noticed over time several people have posted comments that their 1330 Spyders sounded like "someone shaking a can of washers" upon start up. I've not noticed anyone posting anything about what is causing that symptom or possible fixes. Well, my 2014 RT is starting to do this too. It...

    Charcoal canister air filter replacement

Recently there was another thread about the 30k miles requirement for replacing the air filter for the charcoal canister, part #709000524. http://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/cam/53f54766f870021dbc21b84f/fuel-system Without really bothering to look at it I ordered the replacement, which was...

New dealer in the area (Central Coast of California)

I recently heard from a fellow Spyder folk that there's a new dealer in my area. Central Coast Yamaha. (They also sell Suzuki, Polaris/Slingshot, and other products) They are a relatively small dealership with a good local reputation. So, yesterday I went in and verified this to be...

    Alternate LED fender light available

FYI For those that have a Spyder with the plain front fender and want to replace the fender light with something brighter. Here's an alternative LED that I found that works really well. It is amber, for those that care or want that color versus white or bluish. The price is good, works well...

    Oil drain plug rant

Okay, I'm going to get kind of wonky, but anyway here goes. :f_spider: I recently performed a routine service on my 2014 RT. Previously I had the dealer do all of the services since the routine stuff was done during some minor warranty work. Normally I do all of it, but since the bike was...

Anybody with real world experience with Show Chrome windshield?

I am not all together satisified with the factory windshield. I have been looking around and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Show Chrome Accessories windshield? Of course, I fully realize that windshields like seats are totally personal and subjective...

    Master brake cylinder gasket leak

This is an old subject that I can't find the original posting on, so I thought I would post up a new thread to revive an old subject that appears to be relevant to current models. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?4502-Master-Cylinder-Caps Closest thread I could find...

Front end alignment/semi rant (Laser aligning is a MUST do)

My wife and I rode 4 hours in LA traffic to meet up with Anne and Joe to get our Spyder aligned only to find out they can't do it because of a bad wheel bearing. They spent the time (THANKS a ton!) to check the alignment anyway and found that out our Spyder, which I knew to be out of...

Another oil in air box thread, but with a different resolution

I searched around and did not find any references to someone else doing this, so I thought I would post it up. I have an 08 GS/RS and over the course of my ownership I have been bothered by periodic oil leaks from the air box. I've read the different threads about the cause and...

    Brake pad review

While recently installing a new rear tire I checked the brake pads on the rear and found that at 12K the rear pads were below the replacement thickness of 4.5mm. :yikes: While shopping around I found some Volmar pads on a certain on-line auction site, that shall remain nameless.:joke: The...
