• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    BRP Website

I have not been on the BRP Spyder website for a while and was really impressed with how unfriendly it has become. If BRP is depending on this website to generate interest and help with sales I think they are in trouble. I never was able to get the Spyder section to work properly and the parts...

Vee Rubber VTR-350 Arachnid Touring Rear Tire

Last week I had an Arachnid rear tire put on my 2014 RT-S. So far it is working very well and I would recommend it to anyone that wants something different from the OEM Kenda. I have nothing against the original Kenda but, I would like to have had it last longer. I have no idea why BRP would...

    D.E.S.S. experiment

I almost hate to post this but, I have experimented with something that has to date proven successful. To me it doesn’t necessarily make sense but here goes. I have had the D.E.S.S. code four times since the 8th of May. Three of those four occurred within 24 hours of each other on May 25th and...

    DESS Code twice today.

On 5/8/16 I addressed a thread to Steve (BRPCare) asking for some specific information about the reality of the DESS issue. As expected, no answer was ever received. (a real surprise) Based on information posted on this forum, I thought my problem might have been caused by the FOB for my...

To Steve (BRPcare) about DESS issues

I have experienced the DESS code for the first time today on my 2014 RT-S with 3180 miles on it. After reading your information about the problem I think it could have been caused by my Nissan Rogue key fob that was in my pocket at the time. My question is: Is the replacement of the module and...

Vee Rubber VTR-350 Rear Touring Tire

To those that have or are using the VTR-350 Touring rear tire from Vee Rubber on their RT: How does handling compare to the hard Kenda rear tire ? How does tread life compare to the hard Kenda tire ? How does ride compare to the hard Kenda tire ? How does wet traction compare to the hard...

    Oil Change Kit

Today, I changed oil in my 1330 for the first time. I went slowly and took my time so that I could learn as much about the machine as possible. It was significantly different from the 998. I am not sure that I would consider it to be any easier than the 998 but, all went well. I used the new...

    1330 Redline

I have been trying to find out what the real redline on this engine is. The tach suggests that it is 7500 RPMs but, I have not seen anything that actually says that. Also, I have not seen any dyno readouts that include this information. Has anyone found anything that actually documents the...

    Stumble when shifting

I have ridden my 2014 RT-S about 300 miles since bringing it home a couple of weeks ago. I love the bike but I have come up with one minor problem. During the shift from first to second I get a very short stumble if the RPMs are right at 3000. A little below or a little above and everything is...

    Oil Change kit

Last week I brought my 2014 RT-S home. I also bought an oil change kit just to have on hand. I noticed that the manual says that oil and filter change requires about 5.6 qts of oil. My kit has 7 qts. Anybody know why?

    1330 Engine Temp

I am in the second day of ownership of my 2014 RT-S. I have taken two rides thus far and the temperature has been quite cool. The thing I have noticed is that it seems to take much longer to warm this engine up than my old 998. Is it normal for this engine to take about five miles of gentle...

    Shift Point for 1330 SE6

After 4 years of good service from my 2012 RT-L, I have upgraded to a 2014 RT-S. This was my dealers demo last year and only has 2100 miles on it. One piece of information I have not been able for find for this combination is shift points (RPM) for normal and ECO mode. Also, if the weather...

    SE5 Programming

Quite some time ago, there was some limited information on this forum about a transmission program change that automatically caused the transmission to down shift if excessive throttle were applied at low RPMs. I have asked my dealer several times if they knew anything about this change and they...

    Best Warranty

Today I opted for the 24 month Best Warranty extension for my 2012 RT. I have looked at it since my bike was new but figured I would wait until I was just about out of the original factory warranty. The thing I did not realize is that when you get the Best Extended Warranty you also get roadside...

    Cold

I was just reading a new copy of Rider Magazine and thinking about when my RT will be able to come out of it's rest period. Probably not going to be any time soon. It is currently 6 degrees below zero with a wind chill of -40 here in sunny, southern Minnesota. Tonight it is supposed to be -23...

    Call from BRP

Yesterday, 11/27/13, I received a phone call from a very nice lady from BRP. The call was the result of my comments about the lack of responsiveness by BRP that I had expressed on this forum. We talked for a long time about my service concerns, the apparent lack of product development before...

    Winterizing

For those of you that are faced with putting your ride away for the winter, don't forget to plug the air intake. Also, make sure you know what you plugged it with so that you can tell if the short furry folks have eaten their way into the air box.

    Vacuum bleeding brakes

I have read several threads about bleeding brakes. None of them really addresses if it can be done without having to hook to the BUDS system. My question is: can it be done using a vacuum bleeder and without the need hook to BUDS ? I realize that the system may not be completely purged in the...

    Rear "Air Damper"

Mine is a 2012 RT Limited with the air bag that maintains the rear ride height automatically. My question is, what really happens when you select the different firmness settings. I assume that it is somehow controlled with the manifold for the air bag but cannot verify this assumption. Does...

    Valve Check

For those that have had the 12000/14000 mile valve clearance check done, what were the results? Was the clearance out of spec? Did the dealer give you actual results or did they just say they were checked and adjusted with no backup documentation?
