• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

Yeah, but there's probably a law stopping an individual from having their electronic communications blocked. If you decide to do a little research, Bob, you may find it under "The Communication Rights of Obnoxious Pests" Act. :joke:

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

That brought a welcome grin, Jack. :roflblack: Just a friendly warning though, please try not to confuse your AM dial with your heart-rate monitor! :yikes:

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

I agree with you. "Slander" refers to the oral (spoken) defamation of someone's reputation and/or goods. Libel is a printed statement of similar content. What you had to say about BRP was printed on these pages, it was therefore libellous rather than scandalous, (allegedly). An action for libel...

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

To summarise this slanderous outburst: Spyder tires are of relative poor quality because they've been manufactured to the lowest possible unit price. Kenda's speed ratings are a BRP industrial secret. Kenda tires are so shockingly second rate that they're really unfit for purpose. Kendas are...

In case somebody out there REALLY knows of a better tyre. Clearly, not you.

    Tires....a.g.a.i.n

I wish I knew what it is that gets so many people offering their 2 cents about this or that choice of tire. I think the subject of tire choice on this forum is entirely subjective, meaning everybody's opinion is only that, an opinion. It would be better if tire choice was based on a scientific...

    What to wear?

Wearing mesh leggings on the inside, now that's a cool idea, Bob!

    The Next Upgrade

When you have a metal version are you aiming to make them available? If so can I order my pair now?

RT - S Fog Light Question

That's exactly right. DRL's when fitted by vehicle manufacturers meet the regulations by automatically switching off as the headlights switch on. I wired my DRL's through the RT's switch panel, giving me control over their use. As you intimated it is at night on parking lots, etc, and indeed any...

RT - S Fog Light Question

Understood. I have fitted a pair of white high intensity LED lamps to the front mudguard supports of my RT. An advantage of fixing them there is to direct illumination onto the ground in the direction the Spyder is turning. I would supply photos but I am at present away from home. :spyder2:

RT - S Fog Light Question

Fine. In the UK we have a bunch of vehicle regulations which specifies (among lots of other stuff) wattage and the colors of driving lamps. This ensures that other road users are are not dazzled, nor led to believe that a flying saucer has just landed up ahead. Some of the LED-modified Spyders...

RT - S Fog Light Question

It would be interesting to find out from a spokesperson why BRP decided to create these miniature "lighting moldings" inside the upper and lower lamp units. For sure I can say that they do NOT fulfill any purpose in the UK's lighting scheme. On both sides of the pond they seem to serve no...

    Check DPS Fault

My dealer mentioned there was a recall on DPS units sold from 08 to 10. Taking delivery in very early 2011, my Spyder is supposed to have had the modified DPS on board from new. Hasn't prevented it from letting me down, tho. Such is life. My dealer quizzed me over the phone about how the DPS...

    Check DPS Fault

Thanks. It happens. I don't think it's anything I'm personally responsible for, the darn thing musta broke all on its ownsome. For me it's bank account emptying time I guess, I hear these things ain't cheap. :f_spider:

    Check DPS Fault

I'm getting a "Check DPS" warning on start up with fault codes P0551 and P0552 displayed on my 2011 Spyder RT. Any info would be appreciated, even if it's bad news. :yikes:

    DSS WARNING

Look, I go with what works. If some genius told me to carry a lucky rabbit's foot to ward off electro/mechanical issues with my Spyder, I swear there'd be a 3-legged bunny limping around our neighbourhood tomorrow! :roflblack:

    DSS WARNING

Back in 2012 I was on tour with a bunch of bikers and we stopped for a drink. Come time to get back on the road my RT flashed up an orange engine symbol and refused to turn over. One of the bikers I was with, a truck driver by trade, suggested I should take the ignition key 30 or 40 yards up the...

    Newbie question about lights?

Phil, thanks for the info! I fitted left and right LED's to my RT's dash to make my turn signals more visible (to me) - they're a huge improvement over the dim hard-to-see stock item but even so they're not so bright as to dazzle me at night. It was my experience of those LED's I had in mind...

    Newbie question about lights?

One LED on its own would just about light up a small room in a doll's house. Just about.
