• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Final Report -- A new 2012 Stock Rear Shock - Back on my RT So here's the close-out report after having my Elka Rear removed this past Thursday and replaced with a new stock shock (used the spring from my original stock shock). It was the RIGHT decision. My Spyder RT-S is back to its normal...

    Bumpskid....is it needed?

Critter Splitter Within one week, I improved handling and mpg on my RT: Bump-Skid (critter splitter) - In addition to protecting the front underside of the nose, the unit seals a big cavity from the front to the rear of the front, stopping just in front of the suspension, a space subject to...

    Vented Windshield

Re: Vented Wind Screen I wrote on this a couple of weeks ago. Couple o' things: You bought the same wind screen I did. The width is actually three inches narrower than stock and two inches shorter. It's a "sport touring" cut. I find that it helps both cut down drag and buffeting, but...

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Yes, I have the 2010 rear shock bulletin. The actual problem, as I stated, was the ASC had to be recalibrated to lower the back end slightly so it would accommodate all ride settings without topping out the shock. Nothing mentioned on bottom-out except to ask others what the 'blown' stock shock...

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Yours and others like it seems to be the most probable hypothesis. I'm curious as to anything in particular that's blowing out the stock shocks. What was the symptom of them 'blowing'? Bottom-out? On the 2010s there was a maintenance bulletin that came out circa Jul 11 that advised the ACS...

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Continued Well, I'm equally pleased to hear from those who have Elka rears on the back of their RTs with NO problems, or even improvements. And for those who've asked, I have been back to Elka on this, and I have spoken with John ... twice during my ownership of the product. John sold me the...

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Chupaca does own an RS. Nonetheless, what he says is right on insofar as the front shocks. The '10 front shocks were ka-ka, so Elka was the Panacea for that. Putting one on the rear of my RT-S was a mistake. However, I can see why an Elka might work better (when needed) on the back of an...

    Goodbye Elka Rear - Spyder RT-S ('10)

Well, after a year of suffering with it, I've determined the Elka Rear on my 2010 RT-S just isn't for me. Reasons: The shock is shorter than stock. It affects normal ride height. It rides hard as a rock It clunks and pops (my tech and I believe it is topping (vs. bottoming) out, reinforcing...

    Well I finally gave up!

2010 Spyder RT-S LE #391. No problems. Spyder even plays when hurt (e.g. bad ASC service from Pete's Cycle in Baltimore); adjusted valves at 12K and didn't replace valve cover gasket. Got Spyder home and leaking oil. Had them put an Elka on the rear, and asked them to re-calibrate ASC. They...

2013 Can Am 25" Vented Wnd Screen - Nice!

Re: How Tall ... Ben, I'm 5'8". I'm riding a Corbin RT seat with an Airhawk seat pad. I'm solo most of the time, but last week, I took the wife of a friend, while he had his daughter as passenger. My stock windscreen was at its lowest setting, so it really wouldn't have made a difference...

2013 Can Am 25" Vented Wnd Screen - Nice!

Well, many are going lower and wider; I went lower and narrower. I just purchased and installed the new Can Am 25" vented wind screen for 2013 and prior Spyder RT series. I have a 2010 RT-S. Before I begin, the stock windscreen is almost as tall as it is wide, 27 inches. The vented 25"...

    Running Boards

Neat idea ... but for the PRICE, I'm going to go with the ISCI's. I looked at the closed stainless steel Web Boards: $615.00! The ISCIs are $583, and better made; then, for another $246 one can replace the inserts for the passenger foot boards as well. The ISCIs are a complete replacement...

    Gas Cap

Well this must mean that, since my original 2010 fuel guage bounces all over the place, that when I put on my new gas cap, it'll be rock solid, right? ;)

    Anyone seen this yet?

Spyder - The 'Original' Idea Somewhere way back when, I read that BRP/Can-Am's original concept (it was in design for seven years before it went to production) of what we ryde today started out as transforming hybrid of a snow and road vehicle. In summer, you put the wheels on. In winter, you...

2013 -- Still No Spyder Diecast Models. Why?

We've now passed beyond the fad of the neat little New Bright Spyder RS r/c toy. Lots of folks snarfed 'em up. All I ever wanted was a to-scale diecast of my Spyder RT. The only thing I've ever seen in diecast was something from HotWheels, called "Tri & Stop Me," that kinda looked like a...

    Dumb move by me

Just Tell Them It's an Air Dam This happened to me once ... my right-side hard case ... the consequence of not making sure I hear the little *click* as I press my side cases shut. Fortunately didn't lose anything. The post title alludes to the joke as it occurred to those behind me who saw...

    The dumbest Spyder question yet.

Who Makes That? With the BRP medallion on the nose, the top box lid; the words "Can Am," and 'Spyder RT' on the sides, I'm sipping a 'Dew at a rest stop and a guy pauses to ask, "Who makes that?" A: "Well, it started out as a "Hoveround," and I've been workin' on it for a while." :sour:

Is Can Am aware that some 2013 RT's have severe handling issues?

Steering Position Sensor? Not necessarily indemic to 2013s. There are some occasions with any Spyder that there may be a defect in the steering position sensor. Testing is a very specific procedure requiring BUDS. The defect can be due to the dealer build or before. It's true that moving...

    OFFICIAL SPYDERFEST 2013 REGISTRATION April 24-28, 2013

The 'venture' sounds great but (whaaah) ... now it's even further away :( So is Cowtown packing up a trailer and going out to Ozark? Opening a shop there? I got the part about "using up Cuba," but I feel I'm missing something. Ozark is 144 miles west of Cuba, and one of the bits I've read...
