• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    F3 Model Considered Best Value

I love my leftover '18 F3L which I bought in February from a dealer 200 miles away to save thousands over the prices offered from two local dealers. The F3L has been a great ride and an excellent touring machine. I tour with a trailer so if I were considering my next Spyder now I would be...

What about what you don't you like about the Spyder?

I seen posts about handling and some mentioning they can't keep up with "Ultras". In response to that I say Spyders are different need to learn to ride it within its own dynamic. This machine can be ridden at very fast pace on twisty roads and I have no trouble keeping up with any spirited ride...

    To Those Living In Florida

Insurance prices vary widely from state to state, amounts of coverage, credit score, and probably even zip code. Also, my experience indicates Progressive does not want to insure Can Am Spyders. I added insurance for my F3L in February to an existing policy with two other bikes on it. My rate...

    2020 rt

Thanks. I looked it up after i wrote that post. It looks like with both sporting top boxes the new RTL has about 25% more storage than the F3L. . That's a bunch.

    Passenger and performance

It is hardly a racing machine so you won't notice her weight. What you may notice is the stock sway bar will cause more lean as weight increases. Most people change to the Baja Ron sway bar to correct that anyway.

    2020 rt

I think it looks good and seems to have some great features. Long footboards allow you to move your legs (That's why I ride a F3L), removable trunk that is wide enough to hold two helments, and better electronics control panel. What I really want to know is how big are the saddlebags and the...

What are you paying for insurance? Who are you insured with?

That minimum Liability coverage would not even begin to cover costs in even a minor collision with any injury. The question to ask is: Do you have assets you want to protect?

    Rain Gear?

First Gear is good. I suggest you go to a full line motorcycle shop with real accessories. BMW shops are always good for quality accessories. Don't go to Bass Pro and get frog toggs.

Break. I had a difficult determining you weren't writing about your Brakes.

    The Elephant in My Room

This will just echo replies from others. I have a F3L Spyder and have years and a couple of hundred thousand miles experience on BMWs. You must recognize that any machine can break down. The internet and product specific websites are full of horror stories about breakdowns, lack of dealer...

    Installed Baja Ron swaybar

That's a great way to do it. I thought of that technique myself because it makes a very stable work platform. Unfortunately, my S10 pick-up didn't have the necessary height. I asked around and found that one of my friends has a Pitbull lift. Who knew? Using the Pitbull scared me a bit as the...

Trailer Wiring - How long did it take to complete?

I did it on my 2018 F3L. The wiring is similar but the panels and top box are different. The disassembly took about 30 minutes the first time, about 15 minutes the second time. I write about the second time because the plug and play harness I purchased had a part that had been updated without...

WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???

That's just the nature of the beast. My Suzuki GS550 got 40 mpg, Yamaha RD350: 38 mpg, Kawasaki s2 350: 23 mpg, BMW R80RT: 42-45 mpg, BMW K1200LT: 38-50 mpg, Victory Cross Roads: 33-42 mpg, Can Am F3L 30-35 mpg. Motorcycles are not built for gas mileage. Except for commuter bikes, mileage is...

    Missing Belt Tensioner

I had very few occasions where I felt the vibration. I bought the tensioner but didn't install it. Then, I took a 1500 mile trip pulling my camping trailer and experienced the vibration multiple times. I could always ride out of it by applying throttle or slowing down for just a moment so it...

    Curious Question About Touring (F3-S)

You don't need a specially equipped bike to tour. All of that stuff is just for convenience. I've been ridding for 47 years and have toured all over the country. I camped and motel stayed off of my bikes. For the first 15 years with nothing more than a luggage rack and bungie cords. Now I...

Purchase Can-Am from private seller. Can seller declare $1000 to safe buyer sales tax

I don't know about your state but in Virginia, if the sales price declared is unusually low to where it looks like you are trying to cheat them, they will apply a Blue Book value and apply a sales or transfer tax on that amount. If you are registering a wreck or a parts bike show them proof of...

    Drive or cvt belt

The drive belt is between the engine and the final drive. It is integral to the transmission. You final drive is by shaft contained in the swingarm.

    Will a windshield help?

When you are out in the open on 2 or 3 wheels, or even in a convertible, you will get buffeting. A windshield helps tremendously on taking the chest pressure off of you making you less of a sail. Side winds are one thing that creates buffeting; you can't do anything about that. Helmet...

    Rear Shock adjustment tool ?

I used this and a ratchet. It's a bit fiddly but it works. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005SUTYAY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Hot ankles

You are riding on top of a water cooled engine. The radiators exhaust hot air to the rear where you are perched. The problem is experienced on almost all bikes and hot ankle are very real on a BMW boxer engine. The solution is a proper pair of boots and long pants which you should be wearing anyway.
