• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Dash Bolts?

Can anyone tell me what size/type the four dash bolts are on the face of the dash of a 14 RTL? Can I pick one up somewhere or are they specialty items and need to be ordered from BRP? Thanks in advance JC

Going On Our First Long Distance Trip

Bob - I love the "mail home the dirty laundry" idea. I may try that one. Charlotte - I also like the "buy the T-shirts along the way" idea. I tend to overpack, so a couple of pairs of jeans, some underwear, and new T-shirts depicting the adventure is perfect.

Great discussion with BRP survey folks today!

That's great news! Thanks for sharing. I think BRP/Dealer interaction and quality assurance is one big thing that, as you said, will benefit everyone involved.

Serial Posters Are Bad for the Site??

I don't care what you call it, I appreciate most everything I get from this site and the people who contribute...regularly or occasionally. I have learned more about my Spyder here than anywhere else, and as a relatively new ryder, I would have been lost without the advice and suggestions I've...

Considering an RT, never ridden and would like advice

Another bit of advice that was provided to me when I was new. I realize you haven't purchased yet, but if you do, this link has great info for new Spyder owners. May be worth perusing even before you make the leap...

Considering an RT, never ridden and would like advice

That price seems high to me as well. Even brand new, you should be able to do a little better than that, and you should certainly be able to do better on a 2014 model when the 2016's are on the way. Having said that, you didn't mention what the "extras" are. Some of the after market stuff can...

Another DESS Error problem - AGAIN!!!

That seems like great advice if it works consistently. I have a 2014 RTL and haven't experienced this issue yet, but I'm worried if it does happen, I'll be in the middle of nowhere. It's at least a little comforting to have another option for possibly getting the bike started and getting to...

    Garmin and Spyder miles

I like it a lot. Decent adjustments, which the BRP backrest does not have. Also, I felt like the BRP backrest was always pushing me forward. This does not. Check out their website and you can see all the adjustments you can make - it even comes with a leather pouch on the back for storing...

    BRP's Trained Dealership Technicians

I'm out on the west coast (California). I couldn't agree more with your assessment. Funny thing, and I don't know if it's a contributing factor, but I stumbled across a local M/C shop and stopped in to see what they have. They do not sell Spyders. I told them what I ride and the manager said...

    What did you do today?

Trip to Fire Lookout in California Rode a short 50 miles up to our highest peak in Marin County (Mount Tam) and visited the fire lookout. It doesn't look like much, but the view of the San Francisco Bay Area from here on a day like this is spectacular. This is from 2600' up. And yes, I could...

    Garmin and Spyder miles

Don't know about your ryde, but my RT (and I've heard of others) always reads about 1-2 mph faster than actual speed. That might account for your increased mileage over distance as compared to the Garmin. If your Spyder reads faster than actual speed, your Garmin is probably a better indicator...

    TPMS

Try this link - http://www.fobobikesales.com/index.php?id_category=12&controller=category That should take you to all the bike options.

    TPMS

Pam - If you go to "Shop Now" you should see TriBike which gives you three (3) sensors instead of two (2) that come for a standard motorcycle. Comes in silver or black (see below pic from their site).

    TPMS

I don't have a TPMS yet, but I am considering these - http://www.fobobikesales.com/index.php?. A couple on SL have these and like them. I am also good about monitoring my tire pressure and doing a pre-ride safety check, but if these are accurate, how nice would it be not to have to get on your...

FOBO-Bike TPMS system on a Spyder

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like they're worth having.

FOBO-Bike TPMS system on a Spyder

Question for Bob I know I'm coming in late on this, but have you seen any vibration or out-of-balance issues on the tires with these mounted? Any rubber valve stem damage? Thanks for all your research on this. - Jeff

    Baja Ron Sway Bar Regrets

Took me 7K to come to my senses, but just as you said, couldn't be happier that I finally did it. Significantly improved stability and cornering, even on a 2014 RT.

    I had to do it......

    Welcome aboard! Enjoy the Ryde.
