• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shipping a Spyder to Colorado? Or Rental?

We used this company to ship my Spyder RT and my wife's Yamaha Stryker from TX to FL. They are awesome. They haul all the new HDs to dealerships and back-haul privately owned motorcycles. Here's the caveat for your situation: they will tell you right up front that they don't do "express"...

    LED USA Flag

These laws vary from state to state and are selectively enforced. But it is pretty common in many states that blue and red lights are prohibited or proscribed in certain ways. I know people who have gotten away with it for years in a state where it is illegal and people who got a ticket the...

Towing your Spyder between two homes

Wow! My Spyder costs me less than $30(US) per year in taxes (excluding excise tax on fuel and sales tax on maintenance).

Soon to be owner needs some advice

The answers here are going to be all over the map for good reasons. A lot depends on what your list of priorities and pet peeves are. I bought a garage-kept 2012 RT SE5 A&C model from a guy I knew to be meticulous about maintenance and mods with 13k miles on it for about 35% below blue book...

    Driver Floorboards for a 2012 RT SE5

Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out. Can you stand on them without them flexing? I just can't see paying $400 - $900 for a pair of floorboards.

Maintenance Costs - $2k for 12,000 mile service!! Does this sound right??

Right. About every other year, these fluids should be changed regardless of mileage. The Spyder Tech at the dealership I use now recommends staggering them by a year to keep the budget impact down. In other words, change brake fluid this year and coolant next year. This also has an...

Maintenance Costs - $2k for 12,000 mile service!! Does this sound right??

My 2012 RT SE5 A&C has been 100% dealer serviced. Can Am dealers do in fact recommend a major service at 13k miles that costs about $1000 at the 3 dealerships in 3 different states I am familiar with. That includes a brake flush, a coolant flush, and a few more odds and ends. This is "the...

Who Rides a Spyder to Work?

I see what you did there. Retired at 40 (52 now), but I took a part-time job this year to fund some home remodeling projects and what not. I typically work 2-3 days/week manning the office at a storage facility that's a 10-15 minute ride from the house. So it got me to wondering about this...

What is this "winter" of which you speak? We moved to FL to avoid cold wx ops.

Who Rides a Spyder to Work?

Just got to wondering who else rides their Spyder to and from work? I've been retired for years, but recently took a part-time job for extra cash and I ride my Spyder to/from work a fair bit of the time. It's only about 15 minutes each way in traffic, but it makes the commute a bit more...

What is your definition of "warm enough to ride"?

I've ridden quite comfortably at 75 mph with air temps in the 20s and in moderate rain with air temps in the low 40s. But it's all about having the right gear (when you have heated hand grips, that is).

    Late afternoon sun glare

It's actually not a difficult problem to solve for those who don't wear face shield helmets. If you do, finding something that fits well with glasses can be an expensive and frustrating challenge. For the half helmet crowd, I submit for your consideration the HaberVision Magnum Variant glasses...

    Shock Adjustment

I bought mine from a friend of about my same body weight, but who always rode 2-up with his wife and carried a lot of cargo (road trips). It has the factory pre-load adjustable shocks. So his were set to 5. I had them turned down to 4. I believe that's why it smoothed out a bit at high...

    Shock Adjustment

I just had my front shocks adjusted to my typical riding weight while it was at the dealership for scheduled maintenance. I am very pleased with the ride difference, especially in regard to that "squirrely" or "fidgety" feeling a lot of people complain about. It never was bad enough that I...

    Windshield Arm Retainer

Replace the retainer sleeve and hex bolts on the upper right (sitting on trike) windshield adjuster arm this afternoon. Easy. Required: One short sleeve and 2 hex bolts from this repair kit, which has 1 long (center bottom arm attached to the windshield motor), 2 short arms (for the uppers...

    Windshield Arm Retainer

I had no wobbling in mine before this incident, but I will keep that tip in mind should it not be tight after I replace the retaining sleeve and hex bolts.

    Windshield Arm Retainer

FYI, after posting yesterday I continued my research and found that you can buy a pack of 10 of the screws or a "repair kit" that includes the screws and sleeves for all 3 points of contact between the windshield and the adjustable arms. I discovered that the screw head actually sheared off...
