• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those of you using an Airhawk cushion....

I understand the shape of the R is for the "boys", but the R cushion really seems to fit better on the pillion seat on our RT. With the shape of the cutout, it fits around the "hump" between the seats. My wife tired both, but likes the R better as a passenger. We use the medium R cushion...

Did You Or Will You Switch To FULL Synthetic Oil Upon 1st Oil Change?

I would go with the 6000 miles. You may be able to stretch it, but.... Oil is cheap, engines are expensive.;)

is it ok to wear shorts driving a can am spyder?

Sure it is OK to wear shorts. Boxers or Briefs are both OK. Then put the rest of the appropriate motorcycle gear over them and you will be fine. :2thumbs:

    Need trailer help

Just a reminder: Whatever method you use, be sure that it can be replicated at the dealer. If you use long boards and they do not have them, they might be inclined to just back the bike off the trailer! In some cases, you are responsible for taking the bike off the trailer so the dealer does...

Has anyone converted a manual model RTS to semi auto

Just a thought. Since this is an RT, you could just hire someone to sit in the front and from the rear position you could just tell them when to shift. Fully automatic, and probably cheaper in the long run. I know this can work, since my wife used to do this frequently. I have tried to get...

    Elka shocks

Not front and rear, but.... I have stage 2's in the front and stage 4 in the rear of my 2011 RT-S. They are wonderful!!! Made a huge difference in handling and ride.

    DPS

Yep. Will get the bike back tomorrow. Yes, Needed a new DPS and torque sensor. It is at the shop now (where they have had it for just under a month to do the job!!!!) 2011 RT-S SM5. Got the warning light to check DPS after parking in the garage after a 200 mile local trip. No warning in...

    Axle torque - how?

WOW - how cool Snowbelt Spyder: Thanks for this info. I am going to order the crows foot just because, but this means perhaps I can also use the wrench I have. What a great resource this site is for all of us. (As long as you don't mention tire pressure or oil!!) Ryde safe

    Zumo 660LM - Maps??

Thanks!! Thanks for the update. I am glad to hear that I have the "latest-and-greatest," and will await the magic of Garmin Express to let me know when any other updates are available.

    Axle torque - how?

Tried that I have one of these wrenches. It works great for limited space areas and to do the initial cinching of the axle nut, or to hold one side while using a bigger wrench/socket on the other side, but.... It only comes with the 3/8" drive hole. My 3/8" torque wrench only goes to 80 lbf...

    Zumo 660LM - Maps??

I have a Zumo 660LM on my 2011 RTS. The LM indicates lifetime maps, and they have been updated several times over the years. I use Garmin Express, but have not seen any map updates for what seems to be a very long time. They used to update the maps about three times a year. I understand the...

    Axle torque - how?

I have a 2011 RTS. I have had the tire changed, and the tech did not do a good job of aligning the belt. I have the wrenches and sockets and have done the belt tension and alignment. A bit tricky, but not impossible. However.......... I want to torque the axle to the 96 flb spec, but there...

    Belt Tension for RT

Good day all. Just two quick (I hope) questions. What is the currently accepted "correct" tension setting for a 2011 RT drive belt? If you are using an aftermarket belt tensioner (I am using DOC's), do you need to disable it or factor it in to the final tension setting? As always, I...

    Thanks for all the help!!!

Pressure I am following your suggestions. 15 for the fronts, and Will use 18 when the rear is installed. Seems to work, and when up to full operating temp the fronts are at 17 which is within the correct range. I appreciate your work to figure out what to use. It saved me a lot of time...

    Thanks for all the help!!!

Well, some of the things I have learned here are really paying off. Yesterday was a beautiful day in Northwest Virginia. So, I got ready to spend the day in the open air. Got the bike rolled out of the garage, hit the starter, and only a brief sputter and then nothing. It would crank, but...

Oil Change - What's all the fuss about??

Well, I got tired of paying the dealer to change the oil on my 2011 RT-S SM5. I have read all of the posts here, looked at a bunch of YouTube videos, and thought - Hey, I think I can do this! I have always done this on my other bikes, so why not. I bought the ATV jack some years ago and...

HowTo: Replace the Windsheld Arm with Billet Aluminum Arm.

SpyderAccessories Arm Replacement It has been asked if the CanAmSpyderAccessories.com arm is equal to the one from NoBoot. Well, here is my report. (Caused by the breaking of the support arm on my 2011 RT-S) It seems that Ron (NOBOOT) either does not have any more, or maybe they are several...

Elka Shock Protector covers - Comments Please

Shock Protectors on RT I thought about these when I put on my Elkas, but the clearance on the RT is barely enough to clear the shocks, I needed to do some shaving of the plastic to allow room for the shock travel, so the protectors will certainly not fit in there as well.

    Gas shock for trunk

Add a second lift piston Some time ago on this site one of the posters suggested adding a second lift to the trunk. I did this, and the difference was amazing . The original lifter was getting weak, but i left it place and just added the new one. The bike has the holes and the setup is...
