• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Florida vacation

The MRS and I will be leaving next week for a few weeks in the Sunshine State. Our car (HHR) is only rated for 1K lbs, so won't be able to trailer our RT along. I checked around for rentals. Dang, they're proud of the Spyder down there, $250 a day. Even a Harley trike is in the same vicinity...

Why so many low mileage bikes for sale.

I think if you look at the demographics of the owners, there is a lot of grey hair in the crowd. Also, people with a bit of disability and also a fair number of women. All this may not slow down the desire to ryde, but possibly the ability to put in a lot of miles. Not a lot of youngsters in the...

    2020 rt

Hopefully the lights are more effective than my RT. I've got old eyes. Need lots of light.

    Florida in February

"Begin your search for a curated Turo host and preferred Can-Am On-Road vehicle by selecting a state. *The program is currently only available in the states of California, Nevada, and South Carolina." Good suggestion, but not including Florida yet. Joey in Myrtle Beach is 7 hours from the...

    Florida in February

It looks like they only run from the Washington DC area to Florida not including Illinois. Coke

    Florida in February

Luckily I have time to explore all my options. Just seems a shame not ride while in warm Feb weather.

    Florida in February

My front wheel drive is only towing rated for a 1000#. I just don't feel comfortable pulling that weight with it that far. Realistically, would maybe only ryde the Spyder 3 or 4 days at the most. Coke

    Florida in February

Renting a van or pickup from Uhaul for the 2500 miles from Illinois and back calculated from their website starts at $1100. And their website will only show for up to 5 days and I would need closer to 20 days. Guessing that this is going to an expensive option. I'll do some more inquiring though.

    Florida in February

Wifey and I are planning another late winter trip to family in Florida this coming year. We just have a small Chevy with a 4 banger and I just don't trust it trailering the RT from Illinois and back. (getting to old to ryde it there and back) So, I thought I'd inquire with members if there were...

Wow, even rural roads aren't safe...

I see unsecured loads going down the road all the time. I haven't seen a farmer throw a strap on his hay bales or chain down equipment on a trailer for quite a while. If I did that as a professional driver, I'd be stopped in a heartbeat. Unsafe is unsafe, no matter who you are, in daylight or...

    The currant and LAST Spyderfest

Just attended a meeting today for our upcoming 34th Moto Guzzi Rally here in Illinois. I agree about it being a lot of work, especially since we do our own cooking and such for the weekend. Time is showing a lot more grey hair in attendees and the rally crew too. Our attendance numbers have been...

Extended warranty options when Spyder not currently under warranty

I was just told at a dealer last Friday that my BEST warranty is up at the end of the month. He quoted me $690 for a 2 year extension on it. I suppose it's worth it, especially if something major happens. Coke

Dealer dropped Can-Am line because of Ryker?

Had my RT service Friday at Tempo Marine in E Moline IL. (Cold windy ryde) They also said they aren't going to carry Rykers. Don't know if it's a BRP requirement to carry the franchise. Coke

    Helmet storage 2018 RT LSE6

The engineer that was in charge of designing the interior of all the RT's compartments should not be allowed to reproduce. Such a inefficient waste of useable space. And it's been how long BRP has been sitting on these molds and haven't improved on them? Irritates me so. Coke

    How many lessons.....

Your troubles go back to some inconsiderate jerk messing with your ryde. Haven't had any big problems other than a "friend" dragging my RT-S out of Ir's parking spot at work not knowing about the parking break. I made the mistake of leaving the key in it when I ran into the office. Would not...

    Glove Box

First, what Spyder and year? If it's an RT, I believe you are supposed to be able to lock the steering and glove box by turning the handle bars and then the key to lock the glove box. Have never tried it and it's to cold here to go out in the garage to verify. Someone else here can give you more...

Am I meeting something here about the oil

I always like it (sarcasm) when they make the dip stick about the same color as the oil. Coke

    Brought her home today!

We're heading to Florida also. Unfortinately, I don't have a way to take the RT along. And I don't think I want to chance the weather and the ryde. So, the Chevy it is. Coke

    vest extenders

The wife and I use PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) vest extenders. They are nice when we wear over a riding coat and I also hang a couple dog tags I had made in remembrance of our brothers. Coke

    Radio having poor reception

Yup, the reception on my '15 RT-S kinda sucks. Tried a new shorty antenna from Lamonster, but that was worse than the factory antenna, so went back to factory antenna.
