• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    New gas cap

Ok, sorry, but I have to ask. What's the deal with the "gas caps"? I've not recieved anything from BRP related to any recall on the Spyders gas cap. :dontknow:

    Chicago Motorcycle Show

I recieved two complimentary tickets to the Chicago motorcycle show yesterday in the mail, courtesy of BRP. The documents state that there is a special Spyder owner event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9th @ 2:00 PM. Will there perhaps be an appearance by some or all of the Spyder 5...

WIILY Spyder Ryders going to Spyderfest

On The Fence I would like to go, as I didn't make it to the rally out west last year, but will have to see how things look come April. I've not registered yet, but will try to attend your next chapter meeting.

    Brake Failure

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully the weather will cooperate for me to take it in before it's too cold. May just have to wait till spring.

    Brake Failure

A couple months back I had posted here that I was getting an intermittent brake failure light, someone said that I should check the master cylinder fluid level as the Spyder is sensitive to any low levels. I did top off the master cylinder and the problem seemed to go away. I took Spydie out...

    Brake Pad Life

:lecturef_smilie:Excuse me, I'm not encouraging anyone to do anything, don't put words in my mouth. I'm simply not convinced that it isn't a wear indicator just because you say it isn't. I'll check with my local dealership. Thanks for you input.

    Brake Pad Life

For what it's worth: Signs of Brake Pad WearBelieve it or not, most of the time you can check pad wear without taking off the wheels. And you don't need a mechanical engineering degree to do it. Usually, you can see the brake pad through the wheel and won't need to remove it. Once you find the...

    Brake Pad Life

Question? If it's not a wear indicator, than what's the purpose of a slot on the face of the pad?

    Brake Pad Life

I've noticed, looking at the pads on my RT, that there is a small slot in the face of the front pads, I assume that this is a wear indicator? As I can still see the slot, I assume the pads still have some miles left on them.

Just flipped 13k on the RT, have already had to top off the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. Just wondering how many miles folks are averaging before replacing the pads?:dontknow:

    2013 Can-Am Roadster Owner Event

Two years ago the Spyder rally was in Chicago, last year it was out east in Magee Valley, this year it was out west in Colorado. If BRP repeats itself, I would say the next rally will be someplace in the midwest, my guess, the Ozarks, but that's just a guess. I think they try to move it around...

The new 2013 Spyder RT ST and RS

Would also like to know if the floor boards are available on the manual 5 speed models and are they retro-fittable to later model RT's?

    New hardware for rattling windshields?

My 2010 RT has had an irritating rattle in the windshield from day one. No cracks in the pivot arms, but would like to get rid of the rattling. It is especially loud when the windshield is up from it's lowest position. Hardly any rattle when it's all the way down.

    "Brake Failure"

I was riding to work this morning on my usual route, when I came to a downhill section of road where the speed limit drops from 45 to 35. I typically just down shift in this section and let the Spyder engine brack to slow down, which is what I did this morning. I happened to look down to check...

Is there a special wave for Can-Am riders??

When other riders wave I will respond with a low hand wave, but when I see another Spyder Ryder, which is rare, I'll do a medium high thumbs up gesture.

    acknowledging other oncoming bikers

I live about an hour south of Milwaukee, the inner sactum of Harley Davidson. In my area I would say that about 5% of Harley riders will give me a wave. It varies for other bikers. Most trike riders will wave, most Goldwing riders will wave (I think because the front of the RT resembles the...

    Parking in public...

I recently sold a stock seat for a 2008 RS (my original Spdyer). When I got to talking (acutally texting) with the buyer he shared with me that some "knob" decided to sit on his Spyder with his car keys sticking out of his back pocket, and punched 3 holes in his seat. Just one small example of...
