• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for some engineering fabrication advice

You will want to look at the hinge also. It will need to be able to support the load.

    New entry level Spyder

Personally I would be fine with a smaller motor. As long as it gets me down the road at the legal speed limit I'm fine. A bigger motor doesn't make the ride, and wind in my face any different. As I tell my Harley friends "I don't need a bigger motor to compensate for what I lack in other...

    USB charging port question

What year RS do you have? Some of the options people are giving you won't apply to the early models. I added a USB port on when I added driving lights. It's hooked directly to the battery, and wired in with the switch for the lights. I have to turn the lights on to power the outlet, but that...

    OT: Cutting the Cable?

I use Sling TV paired with a Firestick. Sling is nice, but you don't get the Discovery channel. The only channel I really miss. You can get a DVR option with Sling, but you can't fast forward through the commercials on every channel. Also many channels have lots of their shows on demand so you...

    Safety Gear

In my area, I see more safety gear on Spyder riders than I do on most Harley, and crotch rocket riders. I have yet to see a person on a Spyder, in a tank top, shorts, and sandals. I'll see Harley riders dressed like that all day.

    Gear position sensor behind sprocket

Did you replace yours yourself without resetting it in the computer? Mine is acting up and I want to know if I can replace it without needing to go to the dealer. I've taken the front sprocket off before, so I'm not worried about dealing with that.

When do the 2019 Models come out

Supposedly the big announcement will be the entry level 10K Spyder. We will see in September.

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

The 08's still use the bolt and washer. I have witness marks on mine because I have noticed that the washer tends to move even after being torqued to the higher spec. I had the front pulley in mine fail in 2016 in a fashion similar to what is now being seen with the F3's. I don't know if it was...

17,000 Miles and the front pulley is history!

If you've ever removed the front pulley, it's not a tight fit with the output shaft, at least on the older 998's. You can easily remove it by hand. There is quite a bit of tolerance in the fit. Enough you can move the sprocket forward and backwards on the shaft. I think the this is causing the...

Did you get the red dust beforehand? Had you put anything else on it. Like a moly lube?

That's a nice guide. I'm glad it's easier on these models than on the early RT's.

    Rough idle

If you do a search on here for canisterectomy, you can find how to remove the evap canister, and bypass the purge valve. Many people do that anyways even if they aren't having issues.

    Rough idle

The 998's love to be ran at those RPM's and you can actually wear the clutch out prematurely by running it at too low of RPM's.

Genius maps has now become useless.

A charging downstream Port can go to 1.5A. Your check with a meter shows they are using the older .5A standard. That means you won't be able to have your phone in use and charge at the same time.

BRP Warranty Bulletin # 2018-4 ***IMPORTANT***

Yeah the sync in my 60k Ford truck still doesn't do all that it was supposed to do. It's not just BRP that falls through.
