• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Any 2018 RT's? feedback

My first Spyder was a 2012 RT Ltd. I bought it used with less than 4K miles. It was a beautiful bike, but was in the shop 3 times during the two months I owned it. Out of frustration, I traded it for the 2018 RTL that I now have. So far with over 6000 miles, it has been trouble free. I installed...

Are there really THAT many differences between the Spyder and two wheels?

Probably the biggest difference in handling is steering as opposed to counter steering a two wheeler. I hear a lot of experienced two wheel riders comment about how "twitchy" the steering is on Spyders when they first ride them, and I think it is just the sensation of lateral side-to-side G...

    The Dreaded P0174 Trouble Code

I think it was sold. I got a frantic call from their business mgr. about three weeks later asking for the title, which surprised me, since I had signed the official ADOT power of attorney documents when the deal was done. Anyway, I hope the new owner has better luck than I did. It was a...

    Avoid the 2019 Spyder RT?

Shawn Smoak, one of the most knowledgeable Spyder techs, strongly cautions against installing accessory lighting of unknown quality by tapping into the can-bus system. In his vlog videos he has shared his experience with Spyders throwing random trouble codes resulting in limp-home mode due to...

    How to remove gasoline stain?

I have found the best solution is to not let the stain set in the first place. When I have a fueling accident on any of my bikes, I immediately grab a paper towel that most gas stations have for window washing, and soak it in the widow washing solution. I then very gently flood the spill with...

    Dealing with car envy

Working part time (I'm retired) in a car dealership definitely has a downside. You sometimes wind up spending more there than you make. Last year a guy traded a 2014 Mustang GT with 9K original miles and a Suburban with 1600 original miles for a new Tahoe. The wife and I being huge Mustang fans...

    New kid on da block

Your post does not mention what model(s) you are considering. However, my wife is 4'9". We have a 2018 Spyder RT Limited, and she is quite comfortable with the passenger floor boards adjusted to the highest position. If you have further questions, feel free to PM me. Dennis

    I know it's hot...

Weather up here in Payson has been great. Rode the Harley this morning and temps were in the low 80s. The wife and I rode the Spyder to Snowflake on Sunday and it was 75 there. The biggest problem we have here is the traffic; "flatlanders" coming up on the weekends to camp. This past weekend...

    Buying Spyder RT advice

The 2018 training units might be a good buy. Also if you do some research, you may be able to find a dealer that has a new 2018 for about 2-3K more than your 20K budget. If the training units are on loan from BRP, were they ever registered? If so, when they were would be the "in service date"...

    Cardo Bluetooth - any thoughts

I recently purchased the Cardo Freedom 4's to use as intercoms for my passenger(wife) and I. Very happy so far - the battery life is great, but the 30 second timeout is a little frustrating. Does anyone know of a way to disable it?

Right side grill missing (fell out or stolen) on 2010 RT SM5

I had a 2012 RTL and there was no right side grill. If you had one it must have been aftermarket.

Picked up a 2017 RT Limited with 3100 miles this week!

I have a 2018 RTL and recently had to make a panic stop on the freeway when a driver in the next lane decided to change into my lane without looking. When I saw her moving toward me I braked hard. At about the same time, she saw me and also started braking. The result was that we were neck and...

    Spyder Event(s)??

Unfortunately, it seems to be a (motorcycle) industry wide trend. Fred Rau in a recent article in Motorcycle Consumer News, was lamenting the fact that rallies have gotten smaller with fewer vendors and fewer attendees. His observation is that of a vendor himself, attending several major rallies...

    Almost hit a semi today

I had a similar situation a few months ago while on the freeway at 65 mph in the outside lane, when a lady in the left lane next to me decided to change into my lane without looking. As soon as I saw her starting to come toward me, I began braking hard. The problem was, by that time she saw me...

    Vibration in the handlebars normal?

Late last year I bought a new (2018) RTL, and also noticed vibration in the 70 -75 MPH range. I also noticed the drive belt seemed very tight. However, after more than 5000 miles, the belt has loosened somewhat, and the vibration has subsided. I think the belts are set tight from the factory...
