• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rain in Mo today

It's raining here right now but I'm more concerned about the chance of snow flurries tonight. Cold morning predicted tomorrow but good improvement from there.

    VSS Code

2012 RT, 9000 miles..Had my first code/limp mode yesterday..VSS...Ran it twice afterward for about 45 miles with no repeat. Can this be a one time anomaly or does it usually happen again? Kinda spooky when you're riding on high speed roads or passing on a 2 lane with oncoming traffic and you're...

    Trailer Parking at Comfort Inn

This may be an issue as the hotel parking lots (Comfort and BW) on google earth look fairly limited coupled with the bad weather forecast that may have more folks towing in than riding in. I'm in Florida and intended to ride in but looking at next weeks poor weather forecast I'm now towing...

Yup! and the rear seat is a step up over the kotex pad that passes for the sportsters back seat

    Marvel Mystry Oil

No no in the Rotax but works well in many aircraft piston engines which are 40s technology and still use highly leaded fuels. I've seen zero compression cylinders brought back to life in both Lycomings and Continentals by filling with MMO and let sit. Good solvent.

    Air Deflectors

Get everything you can based on where you live. I'm down in Florida and i've got the air wings, the deflectors and i also did a vent in the sport windscreen. I've got about as much airflow on me as if I were riding a Sportster.

    Checking oil level

Dry sump systems are notoriously inaccurate on stick readings since the oil is in 2 places and only one can be checked. This makes them prone to overfilling. I just went nearly 4K between oil changes and having added NO oil in between changes I measured what drained out and it was low only about...

How are you prepping bike for spyderfest?

I also clean it good before a long trip, BUT it's about the same as taking a shower before you mud wrestle. You know it's going to be filthy by the time you arrive.

Do You Carry a Gun When You Ride

I don't carry all the time, just longer trips or at night. It's a bit of a pain having to figure out the legal nuances of each state you go through. Too many locales will throw the book at you for minor infractions as the reasoning can be very politically based. Sure seems like an "infringement"...

    Alternatives to OEM rear tire

Toyo Proxes 4..One of the few you can get in the exact same size with symmetrical tread and better numbers than the Kumho. Downside is that it's about 50 bucks more.

Sooo, the 13 is OK as long as you don't "stir the tanks"

    Canisterectomy

Isn't the main cause of oil in the airbox a result of overfilling? I had this issue with my first dry sump vehicles (a pair of waverunners) until I got used to the way the system works. As far as checking oil in the Spyder there are times that it SEEMS low but you never really know how much oil...

13 is an unlucky number (ask Jim Lovell)

    Airhawk seat cushion

I bought the "2" last month. Can't really see where the neoprene would ride or feel any different as they use the same cover. May not be as durable BUT it has a decent warranty. If you were unlucky enough to need the warranty period after 18 months you could still buy a 2nd "2", get another 18...
