• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    High beam riding for safety

When I was on 2 wheels, I always installed a headlight modulator when they were available. That "modulation" saved my bacon on more than one occasion! I first learned about them in a motorcycle magazine article in the early 80's that covered a study that was done somewhere (in the mid-west??)...

    Plastic clips for flags

Thanks for the replies!! I went with the "o" rings, but haven't ridden yet to see if they work. $3.45 each for the plastic clips????!!!!

    Plastic clips for flags

It seems that I have lost both of the plastic clips that hold the small flags on the trunk mounts on my '15 RTL. Does anyone have any idea where I may get replacements?? TIA!!

Helmet Lock Device on End of Which Grip

An alternate idea is to get a pistol lock (used to be free at police departments). I covered the braided wire with plastic tubing just to protect everything and you can then lock the helmet (by the "D" rings) to the passenger handgrips and place the helmet on the passenger seat.

How can I mount an oxygen generator on a Spyder?

Or, put it into a bag that will sit on the rear seat and strap the bag down. Leave the zipper/closure open a little for cooling, drawing in ambient air and to allow for routing the tubing. The new battery-powered concentrators have given a whole new level of freedom to those requiring...

3 new tires all kinds of warnings and limp mode

Just in case you're not able to get it back to the dealer soon to have them check for problems, I would highly recommend that you call (or visit) them and make them aware of these issues, sooner, rather than later.

    Moving the GPS

You are correct, the velcro is under the GPS bracket. I believe that at least some of the weight is borne by the velcro attachment to the dash. The second picture shows the attachment point. John

    Moving the GPS

I was increasingly growing frustrated with the GPS mount on the handlebars on my '15 RTL. It required taking my eyes off the road and when wearing my hi-viz yellow jacket, was difficult to see! Using JT's dash mount, I moved the GPS up to the top of the dash which made seeing it a LOT better...

Question about the General (Altimax RT43)

I swear that I had posted a "quote reply" when questioned about the psi, don't know what I did wrong. Once I got the wheel back on the floor, I dropped it down from #28 to #18 before I rode it. Thank you all for your input!!

Question about the General (Altimax RT43)

I was actually considering a Cooper tire, but I posed the question when I purchased the tire which he thought would be best for my application, the Cooper or the General. He said the General, no question.

Question about the General (Altimax RT43)

While I am not mechanically incompetent, I must say that changing the rear tire on an RTL is NOT for the meek or those who cannot use four letter expletives silently! That being said, I did get 11,700 miles out of the original tire and since it was down to the wear bars, I figured that it was...

    I've been robbed!

If I leave any RAM mount on my ryde, I substitute a nut with nylon "locking" material in it for the "T" nut provided.

2016 Spyder RT Limited - part no# for Reverse LED bulbs?

I replaced mine with LEDs in my '15 RTL. I think that they may have been 1156s, but I am not 100% sure. I will say, though, that they do hyperflash!

    Update on Speakers

One other thing that I found out about by watching the Finless Bob video was the Chapman mini ratchet set. I ordered one, but it came the day after I finished the project. I t would have made the removal and installation of the speakers a WHOLE lot easier!!!!

    Update on Speakers

After much hemming and hawing and endless searches for JBL 2 ohm speakers, I bit the bullet and bought Hogtunes 352F-AA 5.25" 2 ohm speakers! Started installation on Saturday (glad that I watched Finless Bob's video!) but due to the heat, didn't get to the left side of the bike until yesterday...

    charity rides

I have been on several "charity" rides with the American Legion Riders of the Post that I belong to. A yearly event is the Gold Start Legacy Run which is a national event usually held in early June. This year's ride was postponed due to Covid 19 restrictions, but I believe that we will do the...
