• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    First oil change.

Going tomorrow to Route 1 Motorsport in Melbourne for my first oil change. They sent me an email with a coupon for 15% off parts and labor so I'm taking advantage of it. I only have 2000 miles on my F3 Ltd to date and it's a little early but the discount is hard to beat. Question, are there any...

Spyder's are lacking a dedicated magazine

Quarterly magazine I'm a member of the Concours Owners Group (COG) and we publish a high gloss quality magazine every quarter. If an owners club can do this I'm sure BRP could do it if they really wanted to. There's obviously an interest in one. Is BRP listening?

Poor radio reception fixed, F3T Ltd

Improve the reception Along with replacing the antenna, remove the grounding screw for the antenna lead (trace the wire from the antenna and you will find it) and clean off the surfaces so that you get a good ground. That should help if you're still using the original mount.

Poor radio reception fixed, F3T Ltd

Well I fixed my radio reception and I can now get tons of stations, some a 100 miles away believe it or not with clear reception. Like others have stated, BRP loves their Loctite! I bought a $15.00 antenna (30 inch long) at the local parts store which included the cable. Since I put my...

Finally got a picture of my new bike.

Rod Risers I have the 2 inch risers but should have gone with the 2 1/2 inches. With the 2 inch, I had to replace the socket head screws with hex head bolts, clearance issue for tightening. The cables are long enough, just couldn't install the cable retainer screw closest to the center. Can't...

    Fog Lights

Spot / fog lights Check out superbrightled.com site. Great products and service. I picked up a pair of 900 Lumin x 10 degree spread spots for $35.00 each. They come with connectors as well. I mounted mine using the top mounting screw for the fenders since they are so small and light. They work...

Removal of dash on F3 Ltd

SUB in dash Thanks Cruzr Joe and Lamonster for the info. That's exactly where I want to mount it, but on the left side. BTW, I added a shroud over the dash on mine which makes it easy to see the turn signals in the daytime. I posted a picture of it on an earlier post. Frugal but functional and...

Removal of dash on F3 Ltd

General question to the knowledgeable folks out there. I want to mount a USB outlet in my dash in the same place that I've seen another member mount theirs next to the speakers. Question though, does anyone know of a video or how to remove the dash (without breaking things) to accomplish this...

    Question about add-on electrical items

Lighted switch delema I bought the ones on Amazon, $10.00 (19MM). It was the Ulincos latching pushbutton switch U19c2 1n01nc SPDT on/off. You can wire them up so they only light up when switched on. There's a schematic to do this with one of the switches listed on Amazon. Fixing the Spyder...

Finally got a picture of my new bike.

Thanks for the support and comments. Farkling is fun when I can come up with inexpensive solutions and alternatives for what I have in mind. BTW, I discovered that the dealer over filled my oil when I bought it. I have about 1800 miles on it now and was hot rodding it over the weekend...

Finally got a picture of my new bike.

Some more info on my new bike. I took more pictures of my bike to share with others a few things that I have done. I improved my ability to see the turn signals in the dash during daytime by adding a shield to the center of the dash as shown in the picture. Cheap, made from plastic corrugated...

Finally got a picture of my new bike.

Top box The top box that I have is from JC Whitney which I bought about 5 years ago for around $100.00 and comes with the mounting plate, Givi type. It is the large version and can hold 2 small helmets. They're all over Amazon. Has worked well for me all these years. I didn't want to part with...

Finally got a picture of my new bike.

Although I got my bike in late August and have posted comments on here to a few posts, I never got around to posting a picture of my bike (wasn't finished farkling, well maybe). I still need to add a profile picture though. I've added Rox risers, X-screen (works great), attitude bars, Baker rack...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Continuing saga Here's a question for anyone that has removed their bolt. Does the pulley stick out beyond the spline shaft. In other words, is the shaft below flush with the pulley? If they are flush to each other or the shaft protrudes past the pulley, no amount of torque on the bolt will...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

Another 2 cent comment I see that someone is looking at applying lock wire to the bolt to secure it. Another item used on aircraft and race cars is to mark the bolt with torque seal. It's basically an epoxy type marker used across the bolt and adjacent surface. If the bolt moves any, the epoxy...

    F3 Front Sprocket Inspection

After reading about this I'll keep an eye on it, but my bike is still new with less than 1k miles on it. One thought though. Since BRP also builds aircraft, I wonder if the department's talk to each other. They use lockwire all over aircraft, why not use it here? Any A&P mechanic would tell you...

    F3 Ltd fender lights

Orange fender lights Thanks for the lead on the LED lights from superbrightled. I just bought my spot lights from them. They`re 2 inch square x 10 degree light. Very bright Their quality is way better than the Chinese Amazon stuff although more expensive. Now to figure out how to mount them.

    F3 Ltd fender lights

Does anyone know if the fender lights can be changed from white to Orange bulbs? I plan to mount running spot lights next to them and don't want everything to be white across the front. Thanks.

    Biketober Fest Oct 20th

BiketoberFest I hope to run into a few fellow Spyder owners there on Saturday. I'll be cruising around town and be at the track around noon. The circus is always fun to see on main street though. Ride safe.
