• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS Problems, We Can No Longer Ignore "The Elephant In The Living Room"

DISCLAIMER: I am not in any way diminishing these real and frightening events or making excuses for BRP or its dealers. Just applying my professional experience as a risk manager. Possible causes of the reported events involve complex interlinked systems as Scotty notes above. Reports of...

    60/60

Jealous? Give me a break. I get to ride a few miles on my outdated 2008 and you get to build a new shed for your tricked out 2010 RT-S. I can hear all the other members crying big tears for you. Must be the knee is getting better. Maybe I should come over tomorrow and help you pour the floor?

Was Talkin to some of my Hardley Davidson Friends and....

So that means they are riding and enjoying their Spyders without the doom and gloom that they may not get back home. Hope they have good dealers because this site has way more info than they do.

    Power Steering Fuses

This will be an interesting test. The 5 amp fuse controls the DPS "brain" and the 40 amp fuse controls the DPS "muscle". If you kill the brain, do you kill the muscle? :dontknow:

    Passenger hand holds

Has to affect resale value also as next owner may want passengers.

    60/60

60 degrees, 60 miles today. After 20 days of no riding, what a thrill. Made me forget all the bad issues and just enjoyed the ride. Spyder thrills, Spyder chills, Spyder all the way, Oh what fun it is to take the Spyder out to play, hey Spyder thrills, Spyder chills, Spyder all the way, Oh...

DPS Problems, We Can No Longer Ignore "The Elephant In The Living Room"

Not for several years. BRP spun off from the Bombardier parent and is no longer affiliated with the plane maker. I guess they decided it would be safer to put peoples lives at risk one (or two) at a time on rather than in larger groups on planes. Just kidding. I don't think they ever set out...

    Meet Bucky

Bucky sounds like the Spyder. Young, cute, full of promise, some demons to deal with at times, but a keeper in both cases.

    Warranty running out

I agree. Not just because it's the truth, but I needed to get my 1,000 post.

    Warranty running out

I have the 5 year BEST since I plan to keep it five years and see how things work out. I have not seen any offers from BRP that would allow you to extend warranty coverage beyond five years. I may have to sell/trade before the BEST expires so that I am not faced with failing parts and no warranty.

    Spyder Loyalty

Like many who have not had problems with their Spyder, I count myself as lucky. It is the most fun I have had in many years of riding. If BRP would have simply followed others and stuck a Rotax V twin in a two wheeled frame we would have probably ignored it. They took a risk in not only...

DPS Problems, We Can No Longer Ignore "The Elephant In The Living Room"

BRP was spun off from Bombardier several years ago and they no longer make airplanes or are affiliated with that company. BRP is strictly recreational products now.

    Thank you spyderlovers

The "Spyder Web" would probably be more help than the dealer list since folks here seem to know more about the Syder and its problems and fixes than many dealers.

    Steering almost got me killed!

As I said, I was in the risk management business and for me to ride motorcycles is a real tension between my personal and professional sides. There has never been a year where a close call of some sort hasn't had me ready to give up riding, but close calls never became actual incidents. Loss...

buell - engine for the new RT ??

Anyone who really wants to power up should try to find one of the nine Dodge Tomahawks sold through Nieman Marcus a few years back. Only $550,000 then. Technically not a motorcycle due to 4 wheel design and therefore legally can't be ridden on the road. V-10, 500 hp, 525 lb-ft torque, 0 - 60...

    Steering almost got me killed!

No need to get personal. For the record, I am not a "joker". A junkie maybe. I was the risk officer for a Fortune 500 company and I do understand the risks, costs and liabilities associated with various activities, defective products, etc. I did not make excuses for BRP sending out...

    Maintenance question

Like Black Widow, I am approaching 7,000 miles and no problems. No sticking parking brake, no brake squeal, no gas smell, no post DPS recall problems, no loose relays, no overheating, no error messages, etc. Just burn spot on muffler and burned out tail light bulb. I'm knocking on the desk as...

    Warranty running out

Best bet is B.E.S.T. One major component failure after two year warranty may pay for the cost of the coverage. Labor at $90/hr and parts with prices only a dealer could love will make the extra three years of coverage worth many good nights sleep.
