• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Cleveland bike show anyone??

The big Cycle World Show is at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio this coming weekend. Anyone else going? ML and I are going up Saturday. I was going to suggest wearing something to identify ourselves as Spyder Ryders, but I figured we Spyder owners would be the ones with the biggest grins...

    Acetone anyone?

FYI: Givi lists a dedicated Monokey tailrack for the Spyder on their website, but they haven't started shipping yet. Supposedly tail end of January/early Feb. It WILL require drilling the existing tailpiece to mount. Not pictured yet on the site, but if they offer it, you can BET it will be...

    New Backrest Option

Seems to me BMW had an arrangement like that for their R1200C Cruiser(??), a butt-stop for the driver that folded up and backward to become a backrest for a passenger.

    GPS

Check out this thread on the zumoforums for instructions on how to roll back to a previous version of the firmware. Should solve the problem. Good folks on this forum that will help if it doesn't do the trick. I had this problem after an upgrade last year, followed the procedure, and it worked...

    Givi Capacity

Yes, Givi makes a specific topcase mount. They're supposed to be shipping starting this month. I've had one on order since they first offered them on the site. I'll post pics once I get mine mounted. They also show sidecase mounts for the V35 cases on the Givi USA website. I haven't ordered...

    Givi Capacity

Givi's new Monokey plate for tailtrunk for the Spyder is supposed to start shipping this month. Any Monokey trunk Givi makes, including the 52 liter Maxia (givi's R300 red optional color nicely matches Spyder red, other colors available too) A Maxia will fit 2 full face large helmets if the...

    Normal RPMs at idle?

1450 is right on spec for idle speed. See the spec page at the end of the manual. My guess is that the flywheel is relatively light and they figured to get fewer burned clutches or less stalling on take-off by keeping the idle up. Probably less popping on throttle overrun too?? Lighter...

    Christmas rYding

I did about 60 miles on Christmas. 35 degrees F here in central PA. CortechTourmaster one piece suit and some great Ducati winter riding gloves that I found on clearance a couple seasons ago. Found a few slick spots in the shaded mountain valleys, too! The Spyder is definitely a bit squirrely...

    Service manual?

The download manual is very well done, in searchable pdf format, and includes not only the manuals, but a lot of tech bulletins, as well as all the installation instructions for the BRP accessories. You can download it up to 5 times within a 5-10 day window, so if you want it on your home...

    I don't feel so good...

If you've had a significant downturn compared to previous years, you may be able to do an income averaging (accountant needed!) to pay significantly less tax from a previous year or years, generating a credit or refund to be applied to this year. Might be a question for your tax preparer. I'm...

    Suggestion please.....

You could consider a backrest with some storage--a topcase from Givi with the optional backpad. The e460, or the 52L Maxia or the new V46 would provide good extra storage and a secure back rest also. On the GIVI stuff, the Monolock cases are not quite as strong as the Monokey variety, should...

This will be THE cheapest way out of my head/fog light dilemma

The driving lights are halogens, and may need some air around them to dissipate heat. Also, without the mounting bracket, they won't be aimable, so you'd have to get the aim right the first time.(the ducts actually aim toward the center of the machine) I can try to detail how I mounted if...

This will be THE cheapest way out of my head/fog light dilemma

I think you will be VERY pleased with PIAA StarWhites, or Extreme Whites. Amazon has very good prices on them. PIAA website says StarWhites are the best combo of light output and longevity. 55W draw, 100W equivalent output. BIG difference seat of the pants. Also, PIAA 1100X dichroic driving...

    Lights and Limp Mode

My understanding from posts elsewhere is that the computer responds to decreased current draw on the circuits that are monitored, so it doesn't know if you ADD wattage, only if there's a significant DROP in power usage (as when a bulb blows or is missing) It does seem like a simple warning...

    Lights and Limp Mode

Others have stated that a blown bulb, like a head or tail lamp can cause the computer to throw a fit and go into limp mode. Are the fender tip bulbs monitored by the computer? I was thinking of trying out a couple high output amber LED's there. I know the led's have lower current draw, but is...
