• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Smoothspyder F3 belt tensioner

Which one? I assume Jim's Smooth Spyder?

    Smoothspyder F3 belt tensioner

I emailed Jim from Smooth Spyder a few weeks back on 6/7 to ask a question... No response. I hear good things about his product though...I don't think either product is worse than the other or better than the other. Doc of course is far more active on our forums.

Aggressive riding in the curves question

The F3 is far for subtle than the one on the older GS/RS. I've still had it come on hard a few times, but I've found that it is far more polite in the auto braking and throttle retardation than the older models. Definitely carry far more speed into the turns but I have had it hit the brakes hard...

Aggressive riding in the curves question

Nothing about the Daytona is any different than the other Spyders. The Daytona isn't the only 2017 F3 with Sport mode. My F3-S has it. Sport mode does not turn the nanny completely off.

Those only work for the Garmin Zumos though correct? Not the run of the mill auto Garmins.

Those prevent your ram mount gear from walking off but not your GPS. :) I have three of them on my mounted ram arms...

    Kenda Tire: Important Recall Information

Damn right. Thousands of miles on car tires and I'd wager a healthy amount that my spyder on car tires can out corner, out stop, out accelerate, and not hydroplane when compared to the Kendas. The additional benefit is that they wear evenly so they perform well for the life of the tire.

    Kenda Tire: Important Recall Information

I bolded and changed color where I want to make my point. When it gets that worn Bob, you are supposed to replace them. THey will not perform as well as they did and certainly not channel water like they used to. That's what you do with your car or truck right? How is that any different here...

    Canada?

-Passport - Registration -Proof of insurance. Some will argue your regular insurance card is fine and most of the time it is. I printed out my insurance declaration page and coverage amounts as I found different provinces have different coverage requirements. I had enough for Quebec Province but...

To the member with the Chinese ($150) waterproof gps ....

It is turn by turn. What you are doing in advance is downloading the map data. The phone's GPS chip continues to work regardless of data service and that is what drives the turn by turn directions using the stored map data. If you miss a turn google maps still recalculates and tells you where to...

    My take on Homecoming

The Spyder line does not run year round just like some of their other lines. There are workers that they lay off every single year once a production run is done. I met one of those workers this trip. Apparently in order to keep a line running all year takes about 34,000 plus units of...

To the member with the Chinese ($150) waterproof gps ....

Google maps on your phone allows you to store map data. So you can use your phone much like a regular GPS where you have no cellular data service. You select an area(or 2 or 3, etc) in advance of your trip and use your wifi(or hotel wifi) to download the map data and store it. You can select a...

    idle pulley

Yup.. And that will get him home. HotGlue at that point is going with the other tensioner arm and roller. Replacing it is not a fix. Mine started failing on my trip to Valcourt. We zip tied it up and out of the way at 4300 miles on the roller. I started sensing/feeling something was going bad...

    Kenda Tire: Important Recall Information

Perhaps I am mis-reading that. News flash... My car tires are a softer compound and last at least as long (actually longer as they wear evenly). They are stickier in the dry and wet than the Kendas will ever be, and they hydroplane far less then the Kendas. If you think the Kendas out perform...

    Kenda Tire: Important Recall Information

Most of us are fine with 10K miles on a tire. No problem there. WHat we have a problem with is the design of the tire causing premature wear across the center of the tread as on the rear Kenda. Hence why I refuse to run them anymore. That rear Kenda is a bigger liability to me as a rider than...

    Kenda Tire: Important Recall Information

Kendas on the Spyders are junk. True. Fronts are just ok. Rears are Junk. BRP sets the spec that Kenda builds them to. The onus and blame for that rear is strictly on BRP and not Kenda. Kenda does indeed make some decent tires. I run Kenda 33" Klevers on my Jeep and they do a pretty good job on...

    And yet another one....

Yup... Mine has only 4300 miles on it since I installed the tensioner... and we zip tied it up as the roller was wobbly. I was getting some strange chirping noise but more importantly I was starting to feel some vibration again. Mark Baker (might be the picture at the top of this post) had his...

On way to Valcourt with sick spyder. BRP Techs available at the Homecoming?

Yup. What was driving me mad... Was that it was intermittent. Shut the bike down and she would be fine for a few miles. Sometimes after a few more she would loosen up again.

On way to Valcourt with sick spyder. BRP Techs available at the Homecoming?

Thank you everyone... You guys are awesome. Good news... It was the pinion switch. So I circumvented the thingy so it isn't stuck open/closed and she is back to her old self again. I think it took a lot of life out of my brake pads though. :)
