• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Who Uses Shell Rotella T-6

I also use the t6-5/40 and will have 30 k on mine after this weekend.Update,I went to the bobistheoilguy forum and saw that there is a lot of argument about whether the t6 540 is actually is a jaso ma/ma2 or if they called it that without paying for the license to call it that.Either way Ive got...

How hard is it to replace an Upper Ball Joint?

Im guessing its set up the same as an RT so you will need a ball joint press with a small adapter which you may have to try to use a large socket bc they usually only have adapters for larger ball joints. If youve never done one youll probably scratch up the control arm pretty good so you might...

Need stronger trunk lid gas strut - any part numbers?

Why don’t you just put the extra shock on the other side like many have done.

Build date is 05/2020, selling as a 2021 model?

The MY is easy to see, it’s the tenth digit from the left on your VIN. An L would be 2020 and an M would be 2021. This digit is what all the Blue Books will use to determine the year; but when you order parts, sometimes you will be asked for the rest of the VIN bc that will show the numerical...

    Belt eating chip seal

Ive driven thru a fair amount of chip sealed roads as well as some dirt and gravel roads with no damage yet.I do have the Spyder Pops belt guard and I do check the belt a lot.I think the next time I do an oil change Im going to try to extend the guard a little with some thin plastic or aluminum...

which was your most spectacular tour ??

What you’ve been doing with your Ryker is impressive. My longest tour was back in 1982 which was on a Suzuki gs1100 was not that great because we only had 15 days to do it.It was cross country,7000 miles.I’ve also gone from Pennsylvania to Nova Scotia, that was pretty nice.It was done on a Yamaha...

    Eyeglasses hurt under modular helmet

My HJC was pushing down on the top of my glasses and tight on my cheeks so I took the liner out and using an exacto knife I carved away about a half inch of the foam just above the where the glasses touched and I also cut a strip of foam from a beer can cozy and glued it to the top of the helmet...

    Tire wear issue

Camber, caster and toe in are the 3 angles that get measured on a typical car alignment and your suspension is the same style as most cars.On a Spyder the only adjustable angle is the toe and the caster angle cannot affect tire wear but can cause a pull to one side. Now the camber usually will not...

Fuel gauge stuck on “E” - Seafoam fixed it!

Chevy had a problem like that years ago, they issued a tech bulletin which said to use a fuel additive that they had which would dissolve the buildup of sulfides on the circuit board which the wiper float arm contact would slide upon.Just guessing it was due to the modern fuels we use now bc it...

Draining Oil vs Sucking up oil .....

I dont really like using the ramp anyway bc you just dont get good access to anything up front bc the ramps get in the way.For an oil change they would be ok but for anything else I like to use a standard 1.5 ton floor jack which I made a steel plate that sits on top of the jack and locks into...

Draining Oil vs Sucking up oil .....

I have a garage floor that is very smooth and the ramps tend to slide so I try not to use them.It is a tight fit but if you use a small drain pan which is ok bc your not draining that much, then for me its very easy to lay on my side and get one hand under to undo the plugs.I used a yellow...

Draining Oil vs Sucking up oil .....

I also found that sucking the oil would not get it all but after doing that when I went to drain the oil from the plugs I didnt have a whole lot to drain so I was able to use a very shallow drain pan which could fit under the Spyder without any jacking up and that saved time. The hardest part of...

Where is the Purge valve on a 2015 RT?

Im also having some hot restart issues if I let the bike sit for about 15-25 minutes on a hot day and try to restart,I have to hold throttle open and crank for 10 seconds and it will start but sounds like its missfiring for a few seconds then it clears out.I thought the computer closed the...

Any ideas on why it's Stalling?? Comments?

Guess I missed that it was a 998 motor, but I think he still needs a crank sensor.

Looks like a Victory mated with a Ryker,I like it.

Any ideas on why it's Stalling?? Comments?

Couple points here, first this is the 1300 motor so I dont think vac hoses or canisterectomy even apply.Second crank sensors are notorious for being sensitive to heat, they tend to fail when they get hot so its common to start and then fail after engine warm up.They usually will set a code but...

Elka shocks - how's the ride with Stage 2 shocks?

Ive asked this same question before and it seems very few people actually want to talk about the ride quality, they just say it handles like its on rails. It just seems to me that if you increase the firmness or the spring rate you will have a harsher ride. The Spyder suffers from a bump steer...

Tired of the sissy wave by other riders

Ive never seen the sissy wave.I wave at everything on 2 or 3 wheels with a 3 fingers down motion.I find that most bikers wave back but it does bother me just a little if they dont. The ones that dont wave back are usually but not always the hard core ape hanger types. The best is when a group of...

Can Shock spring adjusters improve the ride/handling?

Heres my opinion,I have the swaybar and the adjusters.I got the bar first and it helped a little with lean in the curves but also increased the harshness ever so slightly when hitting bumps with only one front wheel which makes sense bc the in that scenario the bar acts to resist the upward...
