• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP Care - Axle Torque Confirmation Please

Interesting. Due to inclusion of the phrase "on all models" I would interpret this to mean: At some point in the year 2013, BRP decided to change the torque spec for the rear axle nut, to 166 ft*lbs, On all Can-Am Spyders of any year. If it was just due to the new motor, it would be simple to...

    Dealer Won't Install Car Tires

Actually, if I am recalling correctly, manufactures indeed CAN SPECIFY EXACTLY what part to use to maintain the vehicles they manufacture. HOWEVER, in this case they MUST provide those parts FREE OF CHARGE!!! Requiring a specific item to be used as a replacement part is referenced as tie-in...

Pray tell, how does one take this the wrong way, or misinterpret what you mean? :sour:

    Removing Front Wheels

Ford had a wide-spread problem with brake rotors warping on Taurus/Sables due to over-torquing the lug nuts. :gaah:

    Removing Front Wheels

I have a 6' long section of black pipe that fits over my breaker bar for those very rare occasions my impact wrench can't do the job. 200 lbs at 6' makes 1,200 ft*lbs torque. Then I can also jump up and down, so.... :bdh:

    tire balance

Ride-On I use Ride-On in all my motorcycles and scooters. Have for the last ~5 years, ~50,000 miles. But, I ALSO static balance (before adding Ride-On, for sure). Personally I'd not use the balancing beads all by themselves for balancing. I'd balance first, then add something. I just think...

    Gas shock for trunk

**shakes head a bit** So, stock only comes with one lift then? And holes and whatnot to install a second one for, what, just in case???? :gaah: Anyway, um, so the one I linked to is $45, plus 4 ball studs for $12 (are there other places where another lift could be...? No? OK)...

    Gas shock for trunk

Oh, and to get to it: Open the trunk. There are two little Torx screws at the top lip, and another three larger Torx screws in the trunk itself that hold the seat back on. Take off those 5 screws and Bob's your uncle.

    Gas shock for trunk

I just put one new one on an RT-S I bought used. It was missing. Just, well, not there. Ahem... Anyway, it's this one for the center rear trunk. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MDPI3O9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

Very good to know, thanks. I did see a 'low oil level' icon pop up for a second one time. As I understand it you check oil level by running the motor for ~30 seconds, THEN check the dipstick. Which seems both odd and frankly silly. Any reason given for this? Why not check when static? I mean...

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

So about that bit in red, am I correct that the starter will engage, and then perhaps half second later due to the voltage drop, the whole system 'reboots'? Because that's what happened yesterday. I'm currently convinced the voltage dropped, and I'll be putting in a new battery. I just want...

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

Well that was enthusiastic! Seriously though; there are so many possible causes of a dead battery, it isn't reasonable to just throw a new one in every time you see it's dead. Take that luggage compartment up front; how many batteries should I go through to find the real cause? Oh, and by the...

;) Yeah, the potential customer who came in to talk about used Can Am Spyders then three weeks later comes in on one. :doorag: :ohyea:

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

All I see is safety recall check (which comes up clean/no information). Is there another website to check the mechanical history? Can you give the link...? Thanks much!

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

Yea, I need to dig the battery out and check the date. Or just go buy a new one.... At least that way I only dig the hole once, right?

New-to-me Spyder, won't start after a week sitting

I didn't check what the voltage was when I went to start it. After charging for an hour or so it started. So, um, I went for a ride. :opps:;) Battery connections seem snug, at least they pass the wiggle test and there is no corrosion there.
