• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just changed the DESS module this weekend, on my 2014 RT SE6. It gave me exactly two warnings before it totally refused to start (fortunately, in my garage). Here's to hoping the new module goes ~48,000 miles and 7 years like that first one did....

What is with the dealer being so slow?

This. Right here. Consider along these lines; the vehicle dealerships have major expenses (so do auto dealers) and a limited personnel pool (so do auto dealers). Extend that logic just a bit. What makes 'recreational vehicle' dealerships different from auto dealerships, that results in some...

What is with the dealer being so slow?

I'm going to disagree with those suggesting service is poor due to the product being 'recreational' or a 'toy'. Reason being, the dealership is a business whether it sells cars and trucks or Spyders and snow machines. Poor service leads ultimately to the business going out of business. As far as...

    canister pre-filter

Old thread, I know, but I would like to ask a question of anyone who has taken this filter apart and cleaned it. For someone who drives on roads and not often very dusty, how much dust can really accumulate in this filter? And since the air goes through the charcoal filter of the EVAP system...

    winter oil change for storage

If those are the two choices, it's better to change the oil in the Fall. Then go at least for a short ride.

I noticed the error on searching last night too. And it's odd, also, that one of my posts from last night disappeared... :sour:

Just bought a 2014 RT SE6. Few questions

I'll have to check into the DESS module. I see no indication it was replaced in the documents I have. Is there a way to identify an upgraded one? Looks a right pain in the pooper to get at it; probably good to do the spark plugs in the same time. Ouch on the price, if this is a correct part...

Just bought a 2014 RT SE6. Few questions

Thanks for the reminder. BajaRon supplied me with a couple cashdepleting projects on my last Spyder! From what I see it's plugs only, no wire kit? I got the plug/wire kit for the 2010 998cc motor, but seems the new one has coil on plug?

Thought I had a firm foot on the brake, but this'll get me super conscious about it. Thanks. And yeah, that startup process is a bit long.... Thanks Nanny. :sour:

Just bought a 2014 RT SE6. Few questions

I'm big on reading manuals. Huge. I asked several questions above, none of which relate to what I'd expect to be in an owner's manual. 1. Suggestions about dealing with belt vibration. 2. Asking about a good shop manual. See, I tend to do all my own work, and the owners' manual is too...

Just bought a 2014 RT SE6. Few questions

I had a 2010 RT-S SE5, which I sold about a year ago. That one didn't really thrill me, and my wife (the reason we got it) decided she didn't want to drive it any more, she was content with the Piaggio MP3 500 when we ride two-up. Well, being female (human?) she changed her mind and now wants...

    Just got to Oahu

Unless you have balance issues, or just plain love the handling of a Spyder, a 200cc scooter is all you could ever actually use on Oahu. It's not like you're ever going to go for an IronButt ride; you'd get dizzy.

How much $$ to change rear tire (2010 RT-S SE5)

I paid ~$80 for my new tire, but it looks to be selling for ~$100 now. So that would suggest ~$115 for the install. I'd bite on that, but it doesn't seem available locally.

How much $$ to change rear tire (2010 RT-S SE5)

Thanks guys. I already have the tire. As far as taking the wheel in to have just the tire removed and the new on put on the rim, I can do that myself faster than going to a shop. No, for me the hump I need to get over is wheel removal and installation; if I can do that in a couple hours total...
