• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Charging your RT from the trunk.

So on a 2012 works same? I see above^^^ mentions of 2014 and newer but also that '13 is good. I have a pigtail to the battery today..but good to know

    Vampire Drain?

My wife's 2012 RT spends a majority of it's time on the Battery Tender as she rides it relatively infrequently. We had it out about 10 days ago and went to go run errands yesterday and the battery was dead. I had left it off the Tender as it summer and likely to take for the occasional while I...

At long last I got to see it! 😁

Saw one on the road several years back. It is one thing to see it parked at a fair or event - a whole other thing to see a 15' wiener roll down a four lane road toward you at speed!

Yamaha Entering the 3 wheel market.

As others mention, this is a different market than a Spyder, trike or a sidecar as it still requires one to balance and be able to put their feet down to stabilize at a stop. Different take on three wheels.

Right side grill missing (fell out or stolen) on 2010 RT SM5

Thought the same thing happened when we first got our 2012...then I learned there never was one there. :-)

    What Jacket are you wearing?

For waterproof and most rides I have a Klim jacket. I love it for protection and waterproof quality. I had putting rain gear on and off when riding. Here in the NE and summer, it can rain on and off all day. Can be warm on hottest days though. On really hot days and when I know no rain, I have a...

2012 RT - Oil Overfilled Now Noisy

Ron, that is a great reminder. I have a Buick Regal Turbo. The turbo engine takes 1 more quart of oil versus the standard 2.4L engine. On 3 of the first six oil changes, the dealer underfilled the oil by 1 qt. Obviously no longer my service dealer. The final straw was when they changed the oil...

2012 RT - Oil Overfilled Now Noisy

Calling them Monday to discuss. I let it cool this afternoon. At resting temp, the oil is right at the the full line. I let it idle to operating temp and the oil level blows way past the full line. Regarding the oil light on startup, I honestly did not notice. I am so used to the light show on...

2012 RT - Oil Overfilled Now Noisy

noise remains after startup and it was not there previously. That is what concerned. Significant rattle on that first start up following the change and it remains.

2012 RT - Oil Overfilled Now Noisy

Good morning. My wife had the oil on her 2012 RT changed by the dealer two weeks ago. I started it up this morning and it had a major engine rattle like a stuck valve or noisy cam chain. My first fear was that they did not put enough oil in but upon inspection it appears to be overfilled. Did...

    Rotator cuff surgery

Tore mine in 2008. Had surgery in Feb and back on motorcycle (2 wheels) by some point in July. Was about four months so a long road before I got the all-clear to ride. That being said, getting the surgery was well worth it. I suffered for years with pain and limited mobility and shoulder has...

    Schuberth C3 vs. C4?

I came across this thread today. Been looking into the C3 v C4 as well - and the differences in the Pro version. Admit I am a bit confused but as I interpret the C4 (not Pro) had some issues with the PinLock and also that the chin strap sat too far back and folks with larger necks had some...

    Freak motorcycle accident

I was about a 1/4 mile behind a guy on a Harley near my house when a bird hit him in the chest. We were doing about 40 mph and all I saw was this explosion of feathers and him hitting the brakes. He pulled over and was fine but said it hurt like heck - and he needed to change his undershorts.

    Bye Bob

Sorry if a dupe...my attempt to post a few minutes ago is not here.. Wow, guess I have not been around here much these days. Bob, did not realize that you no longer had the Spyder nor that you were no longer riding. I hope that all is well. You have been a constant since I first visited when...

    Draw The Curtain...

Wow...I guess I really have not been around here much these days. Bob, did not realize you were Spyderless nor that you no longer were riding. Sorry to hear that you are moving on and I hope that all is well. You have a been a constant here since my wife first was considering a Spyder and I...

What is your definition of "warm enough to ride"?

35 or 37 degrees with sun - and roads must be dry and free of salt. Shaded areas can still have ice so need to be careful.

Disappointed at the Chicago Motorcycle show

same thing happening in the auto industry. BMW/Mini and Cadillac have pulled out of many of the auto shows to focus on more personalized events. Seems to be the trend. Not a good one for folks like me that enjoy a good bike or auto show. Although I do enjoy the Cadillac events they do each year...

    Spyder, Best Kept Secret

The RT is a very good two-up touring rig. My wife and I have done extended weekends and it has plenty of storage for us and room for comfort. Also good weather protection.

    Millennials and Harley Davidson

Younger folks are buying smaller and/or customizing old Japanese bikes which they can acquire inexpensively and personalize. I think it will be a tough adjustment for H-D but they do realize bold moves are needed to secure their future. The LiveWire is a cool looking bike $30K and only 100...
