• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rain Gear?

I may have stated earlier that I really, really dislike having to put-on an take-off raingear throughout the day. As such, I have Gore-Tex riding pants and jacket. If you ride in the east, you are going to get off and on rain in the summer over the course of a couple days. This past weekend I...

    Catastrophic failure

So, are newer Kendas even worse than pre-2014 or have issues been corrected? Will need to replace my tire later this month. Regarding the OP, would be curious to know the tire pressure too. Pretty bad failure.

    Surprised on recent ride

WV is beautiful country and some great roads in which to ride. Regarding the proliferation of Spyders, same here. That is why I personally no longer post sightings. See so many on a summer weekend it is not necessarily 'unique'.

    I guess I'm a motorcycle guy

The Spyder is my wife's but I ride it too. I prefer two wheels as well, but there a times where three wheels are a better fit for the job and then I use it. As others said above, ride what you like. The Connie is a very good machine too with a passionate community of owners that adds to the...

    Gerbing heated jacket

we have a Powerlet in the 'tank area' near the parking brake, driving light row. Alternatively, have the pigtail for the Battery Tender under the seat. We pull that out for the jacket should the Powerlet outlet be occupied by the GPS.

    Battery life?

We just put the third in our 2012RT. Original was replaced in 2017 so the second lasted only a little over two years - which is disappointing. Hopefully this one will last longer.

    Dealing with car envy

@RJS, love the ATS-V. Did the Cadillac Experience the past two years. Got to do Gymkhana with both the ATS-V and CTS-V. As well as drag testing. Both were awesome. A couple years ago I was in the Berkshire mountains on my BMW motorcycle. An older gentleman was fueling his CTS and I walked over...

After owning one, are you guys still hype with it, compared to before you owned it?

We have had our RT since 2012. It is my wife's and does not get ridden by her nearly as much as should. That is because she is not as passionate about riding as I am. That being said, she loves her RT and, while I prefer two wheels, I do enjoy it too at times. In reality, I think she bought the...

WHY Does The Ryker Get such POOR MPG???

You are correct, but it is not just about frontal cross section. How cleanly the object moves through an airmass is impactful too. For a motorcycle or three wheeler - with a rider perched on it - that is not a smooth service at the frontal, midsection or tail. So the surrounding airmass is very...

    Dealing with car envy

I have lust over the new Mustangs - Shelby GT is sweet. One can pickup pre-owned Corvettes for reasonable (? guess it's relative...) change too. My issue is, with the motorcycles, I would hardly ever drive a sports car. Weekends are already such that I do not get to ride as often as I would...

    Helmet Housekeeping

You can buy extra inner padding sets for most helmets. Perhaps consider buying a second set so while one is being cleaned and drying, you can snap in the other set. Of course, if you follow sales and depending on finances, you could pick up a second backup helmet to accomplish the same. I...

    gauge replacement

I have the clock and volt meter. Given the USB proliferation since I changed them in 2012, I would likely go with the double USB vs clock today.

Fuel gauge stuck on full - any fixes?

On my wife's 2012 RT, the analog fuel gauge was wildly inaccurate and the digital gauge was much more accurate. I eliminated the analog and added a clock and volt meter to the dash cluster. I am not sure if the 2014 was improved? If not, a consideration (regardless of analog state) may be to...

    Vampire Drain?

battery has recharged fine over night when back on the Tender. We actually keep the RPM above 4500 at cruise so that should not be an issue. Has to be enough of a drain to kill the battery over the course of a week (parasitic or vampire drain) or a battery/charging system issue. The last ride...

    Vampire Drain?

Thanks for the suggestions on the key program and radio fuse. I actually did have a key programmed/replaced last year after I accidentally washed the old key with my shorts. Is there a way to tell if left in programming mode?
