• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Which Gas Would You Buy?

If you can get non-ethanol, then that is the way to go. With E10 fuel, you are taking at least a 10% hit in fuel economy. The issues with running ethanol through an engine is another hot topic of debate. Run pure gas and you won't have to worry about it.

well it's in and being assembled

Pretty cool that you got to see it uncrated. I agree about the hand brake. I've got it on mine and absolutely love it. I use it 95% of the time. It's sounding like a long weekend of riding is going to be a reality for you. Good deal.

    just got a call

That's great news. Good for you for making a move, even if it meant getting rid of your old bike. Life is too short. What color are you getting?

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

I decided to roll the dice and had the ECM update done today on my bike. I put about 35 miles on it tonight and luckily the bike is running just fine. Right now, I have the AutoTune set to adjust at +/- 20%, so I'm sure it was adjusting that whole time. After my ride to / from work tomorrow...

    NY Inspection & cat bypass

I just had mine inspected today at the dealer and it was a non-issue. I am in NY with no cat, Akrapovic exhaust, KewlMetal airbox and PC5 / AutoTune. There is no emissions testing, so you are good to go.

Pipe wrap plus Cat bypass plus Akropovic muffler

When it comes to removing the stock exhaust, airbox and cat, most people are OK with any 2 of those modifications before they need a fuel controller. I did all 3 on my 2013 RT and to play it safe, I went with the PC5.

Is the heat issue resolved with the 2014's??

Basically the 2014 has all of the 2013 chassis updates that includes the frame, larger wheels and Brembo brakes. The main difference between the 2013 and the 2014 is the engine. The 2014 seems to have solved the heat issues that some (but not all) 2013 owners have experienced. For the 2013...

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

Excellent. You definitely made out good to sell the old one on you own. I hope you got a good price for it. Let us know when you get the 2014.

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

Congratulations on making the move. You live in NY like myself, so again, the climate is not the root cause the heat problems. Some have it, some don't. So have you taken delivery of your 2014 yet? Have you started another thread about this? If so, can you send me the link?

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

What are you talking about? 70 degree temps? Maybe in the spring and fall, but that is it. Last year during the summer months, I rode in 90+ heat more than a dozen times last year alone. A couple of those days were in triple digits. We get the same heat in the northeast that they get in the...

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

That was my thinking as well. I believe I have something like $6K in modifications (that weren't all to reduce heat), but I always do this with any bike I have ever owned. I buy them, then get them to the point where they are performing as well as they can - or how they should have from the...

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

In this instance, the thread owner has verified his results using a heat gun, so we know it was a success and it is totally logical that it should be a success. I agree 100% that we should not have to implement these fixes, but it is the only option which is why I'm 100% behind these fixes. We...

RT HEAT ISSUE AND GAS SMELL

No doubt the southern states get more heat over the course of the summer, but in the northeast we get plenty of 90+ degrees days with high humidity. How long does the bike need to run in that environment before you feel the heat? I would say hours, not days or months. Certainly the problem...

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

How can removing the airbox for better air flow, adding scoops for ventilation, wrapping the headers and removing the cat NOT make a difference in reducing the heat???

RT HEAT ISSUE AND GAS SMELL

No they don't. They ALL got the recall, but not all of them had melted parts. The ones with melted parts have the problem. I routinely ride in the heat and yes, I do get stuck in traffic and everything was perfect under the hood as well as no excessive heat.

What the HECK was I thinking last Fall?

And that is the absolute truth! At this time last year, wasn't the 2013 the cat's meow? In reality, 95% of us don't push the RT hard enough to truly decipher the differences from year to year. Compared to the 2014, the 2012 is certainly not a Model T.

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

I think you are fine with the stock ECU. I have read numerous threads where people have had no problems with it adjusting with the changes you've done. For you, the third element would have been the exhaust and that is when you would have had to think about running too lean. I forgot to ask...

    HEAT MEDIATION Mods complete success.

Great to hear that you've got your mods done and that they were successful. Everything you have done can only reduce heat so it was all logical and I'm glad that you are happy with the results.

    New 2013 Spyder RT Owner

Congratulations. Since you're buying new, the latest ECM update should have been applied and it seems to be resolving the heat problems for those who have had them. Have fun with your new Cadillac.

Searching for an RT / RTS - 2013 or 2014

Congratulations on the purchase. Definitely post up some more pics. I think that on the base RT, you don't get the passenger controls for the radio. Double check the owners manual.
