• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thanks for the compliment Bob. Here is a link to my 2013 modifications if anyone is interested. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?60703-Making-the-2013-Spyder-RT-S-quot-Perfect-quot

Manual transmission vs. semi automatic transmission

I can't wait to try it ... great info ... thanks!

Manual transmission vs. semi automatic transmission

That I did not know. I will have to try that in the spring. The nanny shows up way too frequently. I guess the idea would be to pull in the clutch upon entering the turn at speed and just past the apex let it out and throttle it. If that works, then this is the best tip that I've ever gotten...

Manual transmission vs. semi automatic transmission

I would think about what your preference is with a car and let that steer your decision. If you like driving a stick, then you'll be happy with the manual. The other thing to consider is if you go with the manual, then it is a manual all of the time. I have a manual and that is my preference...

    Recap of 2014 RT Problems

I have been a member of this forum for about a year and half and I do agree with you that there has been a lot of negativity - not just lately but as long as I've been here. I remember reading about it before and after buying my 2013 as well. It seems like it never ends. I also agree with the...

    Recap of 2014 RT Problems

Before I get flamed, I just want to be clear that I am not knocking the 2014 at all. When the time comes, I will be buying the new 1330 and I am sure that whatever year that is, there WILL BE issues or known factory weaknesses that will need to be addressed. To me, when you buy a bike in stock...

    Recap of 2014 RT Problems

So let me get this straight. The OP posted some legitimate questions pertaining to 2014 RT issues and people jump all over him? If he posted a similar list against the 2013 RT, would the reaction have been the same? This is one of many forums that I belong to and forums are for sharing the...

    The end to PC5 programmer

Yes, there is a difference. As DrewNJ stated, the PCV just adds or takes away from the stock ECM. The PCV sits between the ECM and the fuel injectors and just tweaks things on the fly. For my Chevy SS I am also looking to add a tuner. Those tuners not only reflash the stock ECM, but they...

    The end to PC5 programmer

A modification such as adding a tuner for a new FI map typically makes the vehicle run better. I know that for my Chevy SS, there are tuners out there that could have an impact on reliability due to quicker transmission shifts. What I don't understand is if it is a real problem, then just void...

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

The line from the gas tank was connected to a fuel filter, then a line from the fuel filter was added that I routed straight down through the skid plate on the right side of the engine. The purge valve line was plugged with a bolt. I wonder if the difference might be that I don't have boiling...

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

Yes, 33 MPG is what I was consistently getting last year as well. With the PCV, I have lost 1-2 MPG, but that is expected, so I am pleased. When the wife and I are out on longer rides, I just have to be a little more conscious of where we can fill up, but adding the PCV was well worth it.

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

Interesting. Without the canister, where do you think the fumes are coming from? What procedure did you use for removing it? I wonder if it might be different than what I did. I can only speak for myself, but my fumes are 100% gone since it was done. Rather than cut them off, I just...

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

Due to the added fuel, there is a decrease in MPG. I get 30-32 MPG, but I am not light on the throttle either :)

Making the 2013 Spyder RT-S "Perfect"

Final Report for 2013 RT Modifications It has been a year since I started my updates and thought that after a year of riding with them implemented, it was time to provide some feedback on each of them. Akrapovic Exhaust – 10 lbs. lighter than the stock exhaust and has a nice sound. Cat...

    Clutch Bleeding

Out of curiosity, what did your clutch fluid look like? Very early this year, out of the blue, my lever lost all resistance. I popped the cover and the clutch fluid was black. At the time my Spyder was less than a year old. I too changed it using a brake bleeder and it was quick and easy.

Added a Motorcycle to Compliment the RT

Cool. I am glad to see that I am not alone having both a Spyder and a bike. I love them both, but I am a "young" 46 and I want to run on 2 wheels as long as I can. The Spyder is going nowhere, so it is nice having that for the wife and kids. Down the road when it becomes too hard to keep my...

Added a Motorcycle to Compliment the RT

I've ridden motorcycles for the last 26 years before purchasing a 2013 RT-S last year. My wife starting doing a lot more touring with me and we had a Honda VFR800 which was a sport touring motorcycle. After a friend of ours bought an RT a few years ago, my wife was hooked and wanted to make...

I'm at my breaking point with gas fumes from my 2012 RT-S :(

I believe that is the case. For example, with the recall last year that checked for melted parts, some bikes were affected, some were not. How is that? I don't believe it is the area of the country you live in because there were cases up north as well. I ride mine all the time during the...

I'm at my breaking point with gas fumes from my 2012 RT-S :(

I can't say that this isn't true, but I had the same issue with mine until I removed the canister. The problem was completely solved. After taking the side panel off it literally takes 15 minutes and $12 in parts to do the job. I would say it is worth trying. Thanks for the recommendation...
