• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Correct way to break-in new Spyder

I varied the RPMs during the first 1000 km, (600 miles). Went up as high as 7,000rpm though. The thing to watch for MOST on that kind of ride howm is Don't kleep the rpms constant at ANY speed. i tlike the idea of staying off the interstate. IF you do, you probably won't have a chnace to use 5th...

    gas pricing

Burns my BUTT I think what burns my butt the most is that I am paying almost $6.00 a gallon in Canada for CANADIAN gas. I can go across to Buffalo and buy the same gas for $4.09. I am sure they get most of it from Canada as well. Like previously mentioned, it's mostly taxes that increase the...

How much did the color affect your decision when purchasing your Spyder.

No Blue Limited Edition A LOT - I wanted to purchase the Limited Edition with all the Bells and whistles, but they didn't have BLUE Sooo I had to buy an RT-S and add the GPS. I skipped the luggage inserts, only because I had the option to leave them out of the purchase. i would have otherwise...

    Tires

My tires seem to wear evenly...BUT if the other tires are the same specification as the Kendas as for size and sidewall & footprint, then there should be no problem switching over. That is what is great about this forum, we can all be educated by others experience. :)

    Tires

No, just the cost of buying them. Mounting and balancing should be the same cost, regardless of the make. If you find a place that will install for less, just take the OEM to them. Of course if you can find another manufacturer that has the same specifications on thier tires, that would be an...

    apparently, it's the Spyder.....

Make sure that it is not in gear. If it is you need to depress the brake peddle to start and it will go into neutral. Scratched my head a few times with that and the kill switch before.

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

Great post a nd a goodd reminder to all. I have always promoted the higher rpm shift and cruise. No problems through my first RS and now on the RT-S. I didn't know about the brake fluid, so thanks for that. also, I never had to worry about the battery tender, but I don't think using one would...

    Tires

"best" is a relative term..Best for longevity? Best for traction,? Best for handling? Best for programing with the VSS? I personally think that the Kenda Tire is clearly different than the others (mostly because of the two ply sidewall, giving more "roll"). Add to that, BRP is not gouging us...

How many miles have you ridden in one day on an RS?

I did the Iron Butt on my RS - 1000 miles. I have to admit, I rode solo, with three other bikes. I don't think I'd subject my wife to that kind of ride. It was stock with 1" risers. I have an RT now and think it would be a lot easier now. :)

    Shift rpms and fuel economy...

I know the Secret! OK so I get 40mpg. I shift at 6000 more often than not, but always between 5,000 & 6,000 rpm. Alright MY secret is I use Canadian Gallons..........160oz instead of 132oz. So 40 mpg Cdn = 32 mpg US :ohyea:

the problem I brought on myself!

I hope it wasn't something like the Spyder was in gear and needed to have the brake peddle depressed.?? I've scratched my head on that a few times before I realized it. or the "kill switch" was accidently turned on
