• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Tour Tank

Tour tank I mounted Tour Tank (3-gal) on a frame welded together out of an old bedframe. Mounts to the grabrails and sits about 6" above the seat so I can still open it. Also added a Pelican case for additional storage. I just ran a hose through a replacement gas cap with an inline valve...

    Motorcycle Study Survey Card

Curious.. I got it, answered, started to fill out the "survey", until they asked what was the most recent bike I purchased. Then, I answered (truthfully) the most RECENT purchase was my 2000 BMW 1150GS (bought since I acquired the Spyder in Feb '08). They promptly stopped the survey, thanked...

    Nylon Saddle bags

While I cannot verify personally, I believe a few folks who use the Nelson-Rigg or Cortech bags turn them around (narrow end pointed forward) which frees up some foot room for the passenger.

ESI Day Runner Pucks Installed on American Flag Spyder

I like the pucks, but have a question. Do you also have the TIPZ kit installed?... and if so... since the fender tip lights flash with the turn signals (and you tie into that circuit), do the pucks also flash when a turn signal is actuated, or do they remain on?

    Arizona Riders

I was up there through Payson and Strawberry on sat, but travelling alone (from Tucson). I was on the way to meet Spydergirl and about 10 other owners in Flag. for a Sunday ride to Prescott. Check the AZ board frequently and just post a ride and people will show up. Doesn't hurt to put a note...

Northern Arizona Spyder Ride - August 29, 2010

Also made it back home to Tucson in one piece. Pretty good dust storm around Casa Grande but missed most of the rain. Man, does this thing suck gas at 80! On the back way up Sat, at 60-65, I got around 35mpg... on the freeway today more like 25! (Extra tank is almost a necessity on the...

    Rain On Visor

When I got my Calsci windshield for the Beemer, they sent along a sample of thir "custom" solution for cleaning. (BTW, their website has a plethora of good information on a number of topics.) Works like a champ... and here's the secret recipie: 1/2 cup ammonia; 2 cups ispropyl alcohol; 1.5...

    Seat Rain Cover

I picked up a "Cool-Ass" cover. (get the XL for a custom seat, stock works with a L) Works great, dry and cool... plus you get a "Cool-Ass" coozie to keep your frosty beverage cool, too. A number of Spyderlovers have them, and there are some pics on the site. I rate it two:2thumbs...

SEAT: Corbin, Russell or Comfort Seat?

Russell is nice, had one on a prior Beemer... but very expensive and time consuming. For the Spyder, I went to a local upholstry shop who also does custom m/c seats. Shaped and recovered while I waited, and had me sit on it in various stages to fine tune. And cost less than 1/2 of a Russell.

    Ryde naked

Hey! My BD is also Sept. 8, (though it will be a few more years for me.) Let's see... just have to decide whether to wear what I was wearing 30 years ago (can't remember whether that was my Sat. Night Fever, or Urban Cowboy days)... or to wear what you are wearing (or not wearing). Good...

    Spyder on fire

Yikes, I might have just dodged a bullet! A couple days ago, I backed the Spyder out and noticed a few droplets on the floor. I looked underneath and saw liquid dripping from underneath. A quick sniff id'd it as gasoline. I pulled the right side panel and gas was running off the cannister. The...
